***Official August 2022 Thread***

Made a change! Our CC stay has turned into a split stay - CC and Poly. Same dates (8/24-29).

Finally, a trip for us to plan! We had to cancel August 2020 and August 2021, but feel that this one will actually happen. Used up our Southwest credit from our first cancelled trip and are coming August 5th - 13th at PORS (love the boat access to Disney Springs) and August 13th - 15th at the Beach Club. Now I need to figure out all of the new things, like G+, how to get to/from airport with no Magical Express, no dining plan ... But, I'm just so happy to be able to be planning again! Also starting our vacation with a few days at Royal Pacific at Universal (first time to Universal) and a couple of nights off-site to shop. Really making this a big trip. Happy to join the August crew.

August 11th to 20th!!! Booked flights and am sitting on reservations for six nights CBR and three at Dolphin. Three people, three generations need three separate beds without breaking the bank!!! What's up with Dolphin fon the 14/15/16th?!? No availability... I'd prefer six nights at Dolphin and three at CBR. Awaiting the next round of room-only deals!

Keep checking at Dolphin. Prices for my dates were low, high, low, and now $900/night. I just happened to catch the few weeks when they went low.

I will! Availability popped up for the 11th to 14th, but it's just the three days in the middle that are blocked! Between trying to find a standard view rather than water view at CBR and checking the prices and availability at the Dolphin, it's amazing I get much else done each day! I feel like I'm in the countdown to free dining frenzy... I booked the three days at Dolphin for $185/day, so that was fantastic

You will LOVE Royal Pacific! We have stayed there 3 times and are going again Aug 13-17 before heading over to Pop. Beautiful hotel and pool, great atmosphere, lovely short walk to parks and best of all-unlimited express pass! Enjoy!

So whats everyone plan for buying tickets/park passes? This is our first time back since all this went into place. We were there January 2020 ( just before the madness!) so I'm not sure if I need to be worried about park reservations filling up? I wanted to wait and see what days/parks have extended evening hours before I make reservations.

I am just going to monitor park availability and if i see the summer starting to book out then I will make sure I have my tickets and make my park reservations then.

We are booked, but all the unknowns are driving me crazy. No idea if the days I booked will line up with MK evening hours or what those evening hours might be. Feeling a little lost until they release info in May :fish:
I too am at a bit of a loss as to what do do with my inner WDW-nerd-uberplanner... I keep checking the resorts to see if there are different options, I've read the new Genie info... I share your pain! Can't book parks until the schedules come out, I don't know what our dining plans will be, I still need one more ticket but want to see if there will be any WDW deals on rooms/tickets. Twiddling my thumbs... waiting..... waiting....:bored:

Thank you for your comments. One daughter is a huge Harry Potter fan, and I am all about Disney, but she has convinced us to spend a couple of nights there. We decided to get the hotel with the express passes - glad to hear that it's great there!

I’m new to August… have tentatively been looking at the last week of August / first week of September since school here starts after Labour Day.

To be honest I’m scared! Have been warned about the heat and rain and hurricanes. Thankfully no reports of bugs? Any veterans willing to help convince me to do August? (We just wrapped up a March trip so I’m desperately planning my next Disney fix. But even this week mid-March we mostly played in the pool during the day, ate dinner around 5, and ventured out to the parks from 6:30pm onwards. We are not rope drop people but will gladly stay in the park until midnight or 1, if they let us.

Will I melt? Will it be worth melting for? We live in Toronto if that makes any difference. TIA! I really want to go but need the encouragement!!!

I'm going that same time this year. I've been in August a few times before and swore I wouldn't go back. But this is what worked for us! It's not the heat that gets me, it's the humidity. I live in Texas so I'm used to the heat. But in August in Florida, you walk out of your hotel room at 7:00 and you instantly start sweating because of humidity. As long as you take afternoon breaks to swim, it's fine. But, I wouldn't plan on good hair days for your pictures. I plan on just wearing running shorts, tank tops and hats the entire time.

Side note - one time we went in August and the wheels on our stroller literally popped from the heat of the pavement. We were renting from Kingdom Strollers and they ended up bringing us a new one. When they did, they said that this was happening all over the parks that day!

It depends on you. We went the second to last week of August and were okay. We were only there three days, and we drank tons of water. I have found I do better if I drink at least half a Gatorade each day. We got lucky with weather (average temperatures in the high 80s/low 90s) and seasonal rain (a quick storm around 4). You have to tour strategically and try to stay out of the sun. DD and I skipped World Showcase, and we all stayed in shade as much as possible. We stumbled upon the (old) Move It Shake It dance parade, and standing in the hub at noon was the hottest 10 minutes of the trip (but DD was so delighted). We are relatively used to humidity and trained prior to the trip by walking whenever possible on warm days. We did not use cooling towels or misting fans.

Hello everyone- we are booked at Boardwalk Villas for 8/3 to 8/9, though anything can change especially if any promotional discounts come out. We just booked the H20 night at Typhoon Lagoon, because we love water parks and doing the night time events.

I haven’t invested in learning Genie - but will do so before our trip. It’s funny, we’re so used to having everything planned out 6-months out, now it’s more relaxed and I think I like it. The lack of Uber-planning that is. We’ll see how things go in the parks. We’re not commando park people- but we do like to avoid crowds as much as possible, and don’t wait on long lines for any rides. I’m not sure what to expect this time! Reading lots of negative reviews, but I’m still hoping for the best!

Congrats on booking the Boardwalk villas - they look amazing! I'm quite intrigued by the H2O - and in August, I would suspect the temps would be awesome for an evening water party. We have three generations travelling - my 80 year old (very spry!) aunt and my 16 year old son... I'd be quite keen to hear from anyone who has experience with the H2O parties!

I'm here in Vancouver (the "wet" coast) - August in Florida does seem rather intimidating! However, the last time I was at WDW was October 2016, the day before Hurricane Matthew hit, so the whole occasional rainshowers and risk of massive storms is a three month affair in Florida. DS is in high school now, so I'm tied to school holidays - August it is for us. It's my first August in WDW - strategies include reduced agenda, try to focus on cool indoor rides at the heat of the day, pack a rain poncho, electrolyte drinks, spray fans, water parks, and a full 9 days with lots of down time so there's no rushing about. The pools at the Dolphin look awesome - I've spent so little time in the pools and waterparks on previous visits - I'm looking forward to it!
