I thought maybe we could share our experiences here

I was fortunate and got a shot at Rexall on Friday evening!
I got a Pfizer shot.
Good reaction --swollen sore arm ,,chills/sweats...slept for hours.
But oh so happy to have got it.
I feel for all those people giving these shots ,,it's taking a toll on all of them going through this again.

I tried to book an appt for my son this morning at 8 am but it looks like he will be waiting till the end of Jan.
I am hopeful that an earlier appt. comes available.

So feel free to share your experiences.
Just remember the DIS Covid Rules.

BC resident here, mid 40's. No hope of DH and I getting our boosters til March 2022 at the rate BC is going :headache:

Hi Hon
Well with the rate that this variant is going I hope things change for you so that you can get it a lot sooner.
Hugs to you
Mel

I had put my name on a bunch of waiting lists for all the pharmacies and got an email there were appointments at my local Costco. I logged in right away and there were maybe two appointments, I booked it for today and went at 2:55 for my shot. The pharmacist was very nice, he said they were doing a lot of drop in appointments. They apparently got about 900 doses. He said they had posted more appointments and they were snapped up in 10 minutes.

So in Ontario at least, check the pharmacies and if you do the drop in route, except quite a wait (over heard one lady saying she'd been waiting over 90 minutes).

Great advice about checking with Pharmacies.
I watched the news tonight and it breaks my heart to see so many people waiting in line ups (so close to each other) and the cold.
I worry people are going to get sick waiting outdoors in those line ups.

So happy you were able to get yours Hon.
Hugs

My sister in law and niece waited for 3 hours on Friday at a pop up clinic ,,they took turns waiting in line and waiting in the car,, but not everyone there had a vehicle.
I wonder if tickets couldn't be handed out and then a large sign post which numbers are being served next.
People could wait inside a car if they have one.
Just a thought.

Hugs Mel

I'm in BC, late 40's, got my 2nd shot in June, got my text for the booster exactly 6 months after that, booked my booster for Dec. 27th. All in all, a really painless process!
Really?? DH and I got our second doses July 1 so January 1 will be six months for us. Maybe there is hope to get it sooner then!! We are mixed dose (AZ and Moderna). Just wondering what your doses were for the first two? I know they are trying to get double dose AZ boosted asap.

I got AZ both times but afaik, they are sending the texts out 6 months after the 2nd dose. Mine came to the day 6 months after.

Had my Moderna booster last Thursday. Caused a slightly sore arm at the injection site for a day.

If anyone in the Mississauga area is looking for a shot, the Shoppers at Lakeshore and Cawthra was accepting walk-ins today for Pfizer.

Ontario (Ottawa) - the pharmacies (at least Shoppers) have a lot of stock and if you keep trying the online booking system (or sign up for waiting list) it seems to go quickly. All 4 of us now boosted.

Sounds like Alberta is more organized with all this...they are staggering opening the booster shots availability. Right now 50+ and HCWs. Had zero issues booking my mom & her husband. They had no wait.

Lots of walk in options too if you don't want to make an appointment.

I tried to get into the same place as I got my first two but no such luck and my friend told me to try the place she went to and I got us appointments for Jan 11th. A day or two later we got an email that they had opened up more appointments and I was able to rebook my brother and I for Dec 27th. My Mom and Sister got theirs today thru the Scarborough Health Network which they had booked last week. My nephews girlfriend works at Costco and got hers today so now we just need to find my nephew an appointment and we will be done with boosters. I have put him on the Costco waitlist and also submitted a request at the same place I am going.

I think we need to add to this The Hunt for Covid-19 tests for symptomatic and/or high risk contacts!!! Our health unit is a royal poop show for both getting jabbed and brain poked with wait lists to get an appointment to get tested now appearing. Our daughter is currently waiting up to 48 hours to hear back about when she'll be able to BOOK a test never mind actually have it!

Niagara has no supply so there were very few appointments to be had. I’ll wait until we are shipped some more vaccine before trying again.
We got the dreaded “close contact positive” email from ds17’s school tonight so he’s now in isolation for 10 days. The soonest PCR I can book for him in our health unit is December 27th.

So cancelled Disney trip .. check. Isolating on Christmas and can’t see family.. check. Losing a weeks pay because my clients can’t come into my home .. check . Booster impossible to book never mind get .. check.

I am so over this pandemic I can’t even tell you.

Even the rapid tests for those who are asymptomatic are hard to find. The release through LCBO was gone in an hour or less, and some are now being sold online by those who did get them. Funny how the free tests are so popular suddenly. I know some provinces have had them available for ages, and easy to get. I am glad the school sent home 5 with kiddo, we'll use them before he goes back (if schools do in January).

I hope your daughter is able to get a test soon.

Here in Ottawa on the 6 pm news they said they have such limited test availability (apparently due to limited test supplies) that they are basically only testing health care workers and families of health care workers, and essential workers; everyone else with symptoms or high risk contact gets to assume they have omicron and self isolate for 10 days, even if antigen test comes back negative.

Ah sweetie I am so so sorry.
I know how much you were looking forward to your family getting together.
My heart is broken for you.
Fingers crossed (and toes) that you can get a test for your son ASAP and that he doesn't have it.
Did your schools send home the Rapid tests? I made my granddaughter take one last Sat.

I am making everyone take one this Sat before we all share Christmas breakfast. (only 4 of us)
Big family get together will be via Zoom Christmas Eve.
Wishing you good thoughts and well wishes. Better days ahead Hon.
Hugs
Mel

Edited to add : just a suggestion
if you can I would go positive (NO not Covid positive) but attitude positive and try to waitlist any pharmacy you can.

This is where we bought the tests from,, they are all out right now but hoping to get them in in Jan

I am immunocompromised so got my third dose of a three dose primary series in October. Now waiting for mid January when I will be eligible for a booster, which will be dose 4. Plan is to go to the same pharmacy that I have gotten the first 3 at. Side effects from each dose have been less severe than the previous and am hoping that trend will continue.

I've switched from wearing N95 to N99 on the days I have to go in to the office for work.

I bought a multipack of antigen tests a couple weeks ago and am now really glad we did since they are pretty much sold out online and the free ones aren't realistically findable.
