My husband thinks Disney will reduce Star Wars hotel pricing after initial release

I assume the dining and activities are included. I still cannot fathom $6000 for two days. When their big tease is that I can learn who paid me to steal the whatever on Smuggler's Run, and I can participate in First Order/Resistance struggles...that doesn't remotely generate enough value. It doesn't help that First Order/Resistance is the least interesting SW background I can fathom. Barely even DIET Empire/Rebellion. But I'll still be interested enough to read trip reports from folks. I just could never pay those prices. 6K could get me a week in style in 98% of the country.

Demand for this will be enormous, capacity will be SUPER limited, and I suspect that people's perception of price will be anchored to DCL+, not WDW.

You could absolutely get more bang for your buck (in some ways) at other locations around the country.

But this is the only place in the world where you can get THIS experience. And when it's practically impossible to even get a berth, once you're lucky enough to snag one, who cares about price, right? This is your only chance!

I'd have a very tough time paying that kind of money, too. It would be a save up, once-in-a-lifetime experience. But with only 100 rooms, there are enough folks out there willing to save for a once-in-a-lifetime splurge that I suspect they can hold a crazy-high price point for years.

From everything I’ve heard it’s going to be a 2 night experience and around 40 hours or so. Checkin before dinner, one full day, then leave after breakfast. 10+24+10 hours, maximum 44 hours.

It can run like a machine. Every other day people checking out and new ones checking in. I just don’t think they’ll be charging $3k for every person as the base rate. $2k possibly but even then I think they’d keep the price under $1k per person/night for guests using full occupancy of their room.

Watch...they will open...the omega variant of Covid will be raging and when one person gets it in the Star Cruiser everyone gets evacuated to All Star Sports for the rest of their stay.

DH & I debated this over dinner this evening. DH is a Star Wars purist and doesn't care for the recent 3 movies in the Star Wars movie line up (i.e., the Rey & Kylo Ren movies). If I have to hear that man whine 1 more time about Poe Dameron shooting down a star destroyer with an X-wing fighter, I'm going to lose my mind. LOL!

I told DH that maybe SOME DAY we will do this, but it'll be a girls only trip with just me and our 2 DDs...and IF he decides that he'd like to join us, he is NOT ALLOWED TO SAY ONE NEGATIVE WORD about the 3 most recent Star Wars movies...because ODD & YDD really love it and this would be a super fun thing for us to experience together.

**I** am definitely doing it one time before I die. This is totally a bucket list thing for me. I will totally dress up and get into it and my kids will, too...and none of us care if other people mock us or make fun of us...because for us, Star Wars is a fun, fantastic, and amazing family thing. My teenage DDs don't give a rip about pop music stars. They admire characters like Princess Leia, Rey, Ahsoka Tano, and Cara Dune. Maybe we'll do it as a high school graduation thing or a college graduation thing. I don't know. But I'm going to start saving our money for this.

My family definitely wants to do this too. There was an earlier rumor about 7500 per room and I was ok with that, but I just don’t think I would pay 3000 per person. (Unless that included the retractable light saber to take home -then my husband would say it’s worth it lol)

The pricing question will be driven by repeat demand. Is this a one (expensive) visit and done? People grow attached to Disney Cruises and do a bunch. Are people going to want to hit the Star Wars Virtual Cruise and become Gold members? Repeatability matters and cost investment matters. I like Star Wars, grew up with it, and an intrigued by the concept. Something that costs as much as a 4 night cruise somewhere real for two nights with some cool viewscreens and dinner theater is going to be a HARD sell to my spouse...if *I* even want to try and sell her on it. It'll sell huge at first, no doubt, but will it remain sustainable?

I hope it does well. I want a Hogwarts Hotel to compete with it for my wife and son.

I don't think it will draw repeat customers unless they change the story that the guests will be RPing through. Two days of the exact same story/plot for 2-3k? I do not think so.
That said, me and my friends will be on the line as soon as this opens to make reservations together.

Hogwarts Hotel is a great idea! ;)

But I've been waiting for a Haunted Mansion/Tower of Terror hotel for decades :/

What I don't get is how the numbers add up (1209 * 4 isn't 4809). Someone help me?

At first I joined in on the chuckling, but then I realized, he's not wrong in the following sense: Disney ALWAYS prices seasonally--for its park tickets, resort hotels, cruise line, ABD. Price will be higher during school breaks and peak times than off season. So if this launches in the summer, you can bet prices will be lower in September.

In fact, the very same thing can be seen by looking at the prices for the new cruise ship--the Wish. The first couple months of cruises (June-mid August) were priced considerably higher than the slow season (mid August - October), before going up again for Thanksgiving/Christmas.

So while I generally agree that Disney is not going to lower prices year over year--i.e., if they open first week in July 2022, it's safe to assume prices are going to be higher the first week in July 2023, and so on--you probably could get cheaper pricing by waiting a bit after opening for lower seasonal pricing.

They price seasonally across property to fill 30,000 hotel rooms. But with only 100 rooms, how seasonal do they really need to get here?

If they can find ~18,000 customers per year, they don't need to do anything to incentivize vacancy. Surely there are enough "childless millennial" DINKs (Dual Income, No Kids) alone to make that happen.

I think it is more likely that there will be a year-long waitlist than that there will be rooms going vacant during the school year.

I have never seen any of the Star Wars movies. It must be a good series.

I enjoyed some of the original Star Wars movies when they were first released. The concept was good and the main characters were engaging. But telling the story backward in some of the later versions got confusing and hard to follow. Eventually, they kept adding new characters and I just lost interest. It is still the same story told many different ways so they can make more sequels. Movies tend to have a shelf life and while something like Indiana Jones was popular for awhile and had a few movies, eventually it fades into history and even places like Universal need to find something new to draw people.

I will be curious to see how the new section of the park devoted to Star Wars does in addition to this new hotel. There are only so many sequels you can make regardless of the subject before people move on to something newer.

This will be a stupid amount of money for 2 nights my family of 4 and I'm totally in anyway. I guess since our eldest will be over 10 he will count as an "adult" so the last pricing section would apply to us. It's what we would normally spend for 5 nights at a deluxe resort (well, usually including park hoppers and free dining), so we'll just do this instead. Assuming we can even get a reservation, that is.
