What is your opinion on the United Kingdom?

If they had it, which wasn't often, it was spent on us. My Mom could stretch a dollar so far you could walk across the street on it. I don't recall reluctance, just being told we didn't have it.

I don’t know if they loved spending money on it but we always went on at least a nice family vacation each summer.

certificates of deposit. as an adult i learned that with every thousand they saved they would purchase one.

Aside from regular delivery services, (Mail, Instacart, Amazon, etc.), friends will occasionally drop things off. We do the same. We live in the suburbs.

Lots of things by friends. Covid isolation has made porch-dropping a very big thing here. Literally everybody I know has either dropped or been dropped on quite regularly.

I would say that my parents spent money on us. My mom was a housewife and my dad was a mechanic. We were just an average household. My parents never splurged on themselves but my sister and I always had lots of toys when we were kids. I went to lots of school dances and always got a new dress. When I was 16, in 1978, my parents bought a pool. It was a 16x32 Kayak above ground with a deck all around it. When they decided to move they took it down and moved it too and when my dad got older and didn’t want to take care of it anymore, we took it down again and moved it to our house where it has been for the past 26 years. It’s 43 years old and although there have been a couple things that have had to be replaced it’s still in great shape. Our grandchildren love it. Who knew back in 1978 when my parents bought it that their great grandchildren would be swimming in it in 2021.

Yes , it does come in handy as well. The neighbor on the other side of me bought more milk than needed and not opened. So that was a blessing. I had 3 gallons and almost done with them

Yeah, a person. We live about a mile outside of town along a 2 lane state highway and one New Year’s Eve we were walking back home from our neighbors across the road and found a drunk passed out along the edge of the road in our yard.

Oh so sad

My mother-in-law. She makes the Wicked Witch of the West look like a saint. She’s 92 and still putting everybody in the family through hell since she needs care 24/7 and won’t let outsiders help. She doesn’t appreciate a damn thing and acts like she doesn’t even like her own “kids” (65-71) even though she insists they take care of her. She tells everybody that’s why she had them. Thank God all our bedrooms are upstairs so she can never move in with us.

They don’t make ‘em like they used to 😆

Stuff used to be near indestructible. Now you blow on it and it cracks lol.

Socks. I have an obsession. I think I own about 40 pairs right now. Summer socks, winter socks, socks for in between weather, boot socks, you get the picture.
