The ABC's of a BSN Celebration! Trip Wrap up; Final Thoughts (7/11)

Yes, I know I'm way behind...story of my life right now.

Good thing this TR is going at a turtle's pace.

Those were the days. I did everything except dress up. Newspapers, toast, squirt guns, bell, etc. It's just a jump to the left.
Just such good (easily clean upable) fun!
I remember seeing this back then and was praying, just forgot to tell you. Have a lot of catching up to do.
Mulriquoting is difficult on the phone, but here goes...
Yes. Yes, it is!

Probably more than you care to know, but
They've had hex codes (3 sets of 2 hex digits) for colors on the web since its inception....the hex values indicate how much of Red Green and Blue (RGB) for that color. 000000 = white, FFFFFF = black. FF0000 = red.
I KNEW there had to be a system of sorts- now I know!
I find that hard to believe. Must be like crop circles.

LOL!! Mysterious they are!

Personally, I think we all look like a dweeb with masks on, but it's the way of the world.

Here here!!!
Ummm, sorry to be nit picky, but 20,000 light years, one would not even be in the same galaxy containing the planet with said sea.

I'll let you and PK hash that out as I have absolutely NO clue at ALL about such things as I merely understood the pun and left it at that. ;)

You always take such great pictures and these are no exception.

Thank you kindly. :)

Really wish I could find a mountain that gave up its gold easy. Just one...I'm not greedy.

Don't we all.
Well, very hard to see anything on phone. Was looking for writing, but didn't see any.
Maybe you're making reference to the bird in the cage and what miners used that for?

Yes, the canaries. Never noticed them before and wonder how often they simply go above most folks' heads. Pun intended.

As many times as I've gone, I've only seen it once and it was laying in the brush and it's hard to tell it's there. Good fir you you were able to get it up/moving.

Luck. Sheer dumb luck.

A co-worker is (now part time) an animal keeper at AK. She was telling me all the different animals they've tried to put at the end of the safari have not done well. This is the latest attempt to have something there where it won't have a negative effect of the animals. She said they can't figure out why, just nothing has done well there.
Very, very interesting! A story I have zero doubt believing. It's like that "one shop" down on "that street" that seems to change names/owners/businesses over and over and still just can't make it.

Hard to drop that far down and still look graceful. :rotfl:

Their turn to look like dweebs.

I think that's from the I want rides only crowd.
Not now, but I can be content with watching the FotLK more than once too. Still was (and hopefully will be again) the best show on property. Watching all the animals at different times, watching the animations on the TOL, Pandora at night, so many things. For those of you who like it, sorry, but the worst night time show by far.

And now it's back!! :) I didn't care of ROL myself either, but the other offerings you mention are just top notch. Mesmerizing is a word that comes to mind.
Dig a tunna, dig dig a tunna.
They just never stop moving!

Well, if you're gonna nit pick... ;)

It depends on what direction you travel. Our galaxy is about 170,000-200,000 light years across. If you traveled towards the center from the Orion Arm (our neck of the woods), you'd not even reach your goal as the center is about 27,000 light years away. (Despite Monty Python's assertion that it's 30,000 light years away. They also use the old estimate of 100,000 light years across. Galaxy Song - Monty Python's The Meaning of Life - YouTube )
The nearest galaxy to ours is the Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy which is 25,000 light years away. M31, or the Andromeda Galaxy is the closest spiral galaxy (and can actually be seen with the naked eye) to ours and is 2.5 million light years away.

Since the Solar System's alignment is almost perpendicular to that of the Milky Way, if you headed "20,000 light years under the sea", you'd most likely proceed in a line that was "straight down" to the bottom. If you continued that line and bisected the Earth's core and continued out the other side, the best case scenario would put you toward the outer rim, which is still about 58,000 light years away and thus you'd still be in the same galaxy. However, if you proceeded on the proper tangent, as the galaxy on average is only 1,000 light years thick, you'd easily leave our galaxy.
I took a university level astronomy class and recall about .043% of its material. And I am certain NONE of that was covered even in a tiny fractional form. Huh!

The picture of avocado toast makes it look good. It's too bad you didn't get the toast you dreamed of. I must admit, though, that avocado toast in general doesn't appeal to me.
IT does look good I will give you that. But what the photo doesn't show is that the heap of avocado is like 3 inches thick, and I guess my personal preference would have been a 1:1 ration of avocado and a hefty portion of the other goodies to give it more flavor. I'd give it another chance, but make sure to ask for extras of the onions and orange for SURE.

Ah here's a snack I haven't tried but want to! I always forget about them when we're there.
They are to die for. Truly must MY jam. We also did the breakfast ones (they are both served at breakfast time) but those, to me at least, were a bit bland, although admittedly the sausage gravy was good.

This chapter is an ode to the myriad of delicious snacks and assorted goodies we managed to stuff our eager faces with during the week-long pleasure extravaganza.
All right! Let's dive in!
this chapter, like all of my other many, many Trip Reports, will include context, commentary, and an ample amount of irrelevant, unnecessary drivel.
Driveling is important, though. Without it, we wouldn't have basketball, after all.

Wait... that's dribbling... nevermind.
Let’s start with the utterly regrettable CBR Avocado Toast
Of course it was. It was avocado. Always regrettable.
I’d savored every dreamy bite in 2019, lost in tropical reverie on the shaded banks near the Banana,
Near the Banana? Where (and what) is that? Was it someplace you just slip into?
Instead of a nice warm tropical breeze however, I was fighting an Arctic blast Florida seldom feels,
That cold, huh? What was it? 70F? 75F?
constantly fighting with my paper napkin which seemed to want to flee the freeze as much as I did.
Sounds like it had more sense than you did!
What was once a morning favorite, was now a heap of disappointment embodied in a paper box.
Well... as much as I can give avocado, I'm sorry a favourite of yours was so disappointing.
Woody’s Mexican-inspired Totchos more than made up for it. So much so, in fact, that we had them twice.
Not surprised. You sounded like you liked them quite a bit. :)
In a matter of 20 minutes I can go from a park-loving, attraction-riding, generally amiable, smiling, happy lady to Ursula trying to procure food with all 8 arms.
:scared:

Not to self. Stay away from Liesa in the morning. No DISmeet until early afternoon at the earliest.
If it were anywhere but Disney parks, you’d be correct with McDonalds,
I'm okay with that. While Mickey D's has some of the worst food on the planet, their egg mcmuffins, in all their varieties are quite tasty.
Ham and Swiss Croissant. Enough, in fact, that 2 of them found their ways into my open, eager mouth on separate days.
I was a bit surprised... until you said "on separate days".

I took a university level astronomy class and recall about .043% of its material. And I am certain NONE of that was covered even in a tiny fractional form. Huh!
I took a university level astronomy class too (but didn't see you in it. :rolleyes1), but I tend to read a fair bit of science fiction. Well, used to.

O is for: Open Wide- Pt. 2

For ease of transition, let’s stick around MK for the continuation of our snack circuit. What better way to kiss the goods than to make sure they are cold, sweet, and citrusy! In fact, my friends, these 3 beauties were my only Magical (Kingdom) Snacks. And is there a more appropriate way to do this than by completing yet another ridiculous Steppe Challenge? Citrus Challenge, 2021: Eat the 3 Classic Citrus Soft Serves in one day substituting them for a meal. Easy-peasy. Kind of.

Best get started early for this one! 11:55 AM to be exact. By this late in the trip, we’d gotten our fill of rides and other hoopla, and while I was hankering for some solo time, Mik and MEK were itching for some pool time. Not that it was even remotely warm enough to swim. Ahem, where was I? …at 11:55 I found myself near the Aloha Isle with a sweet tooth that needed to be reckoned with. Let’s get this done. I sauntered up to the counter with my sideshooter cocked and ready. Wait….. wrong story….

I sauntered up to the counter with my plastic spoon ready and was dished up a most ample and delicious serving of Pineapple Dole Whip. No float, no cake. Did I mention you can’t get the cake anymore? Or at least right now, anyway. There are times that Disney just sucks. This is one of those times. That Upside Down cake with Pineapple soft serve was dope. I hope they bring it back before I decide to remove my customer loyalty completely.

Fortified, I meandered my way slowly through Adventureland and, like a wench to a pirate’s lair, I was attracted to POTC where I sailed through a swashbuckling adventure on a private dinghy where I was free to slide back and forth taking photos at random will of this and that knowing everything at this point, everything, is on the potential chopping block for more woke bologna. Pretty soon someone will decide they are “offended” by the scent and poof!; purchase your candles now, Folks. Time is short. I’m as salty as the 7 Seas.

Brace yourselves.... POTC Photo Overload Imminent! #sorrynotsorry

(The Cannoniers kindly request you sit quickly.)

(Nice hat tip to the East India Trading Co.)

(Please excuse me if you hear me singing harmony with these 3 Stooges.)

(Guys! The pigs have HAIR!!)

All that marauding made me a thirsty Redhead, which signaled it was time for Citrus Swirl #2. In the nearby vicinity of #1 is the Sunshine Terrace where you can order up all things Orange, and since I am an itty bitty, feisty Redhead, I opted for a HALF serving of straight up Swirl.

“I mean it!! I really only want HALF of a serving! It’s just me and I’m not that big of an eater.”

“Here ya go, Princess, and it’s “on Mickey” today.”

Awww, thanks, Mickey!! You’re a real peach! Taking my half, yet MORE than generous, serving of Orange Soft Serve over to the edge of the walkway overlooking the Mekong River, and waving a friendly hello to the Ganges Gertie, I enjoyed my little cup of sunshine. But not before I asked some fellow Adventurers to snap a photo of Lil ‘Ol Me.

As I was standing along the rail, a flash of brightly yellow “something” caught my eye. Huh? I leaned over to take a closer look and was amused to find that Disney has a fine couple of Star Fruit Tree specimens. See?!

Curious at my curiosity, the same ladies who took my photo came over to see what was what. I pointed them out and they too seemed as amused and surprised as I was. The requisite photos were taken of the tropical fruit and we all went our merry ways in search of our next procurement of entertainment.

In my case it was to ramble up and through the Swiss Family’s Treehouse, since was right there and I am one to loathe extra steps. For as feisty as I am, I am also lazy. I like to think of it as efficient, but lazy works too. So lazy that I took exactly 2 photos there. And only one turned out even a little.

All that laziness worked up enough appetite for the third and final Citrus Soft Serve- the One, the Only, the BEST, Lime-flavour nestled softly into a Peter Pan Float. Did I ask for a half serving of this one? Nope. Did I finish it all? Yep. Oink.

I tossed the red piece of feather-shaped wax and spent the rest of the late afternoon wandering aimlessly, enjoying this or that as I came upon it, whatever “it” was- the Castle Mosaics, a Cavalcade of Princesses, the soft glow of Main Street on the way out…

The toast though, as bad as the cold was, was even more abominable. Instead of the fusion of flavors of tart pickled onions and sweet orange pieces, punctuated with the crunchiness of fresh radish, I found myself slogging through a heap of bland avocado chunks with an occasional hiccup of one of the above mentioned items. Granted, the toast was fine, but the lack of the signature sauce left my mouth too dry to let the whimpers of dashed breakfast dreams escape. What was once a morning favorite, was now a heap of disappointment embodied in a paper box.
Your photo makes it look so delicious. Then again I can eat an avocado like an apple.
What lacked in deliciousness in the CBR Avocado Toast, Woody’s Mexican-inspired Totchos more than made up for it. So much so, in fact, that we had them twice. I’ve already reviewed these tasty little hotties, but out of reverence for their outstanding rating, here they are again in all their carby-loaded goodness.
These are going on my list for August....Jack and I could polish these off in no time!
First. Always. And when one gets hangry and they’re about to commit quite some time to a line for some caffeine, you may as well snack it up. Normally, on a regular old day that I’d hit up a local $ixbucks, I’d get the bacon and gruyere sous vide egg bites, but when I hit up a Disney $ixbucks, I’m partial to the Ham and Swiss Croissant.
I also have to have my coffee or no-one wants to be anywhere near me. If I do a Starbucks run, I tend to go for the spinach and egg wrap or the lemon poppyseed loaf, if I am feeling decadent. :)
They need to bring back my beloved pineapple upside down cake. That is one of my favourite snacks on property.

You can keep that 1/2 serving. My one and only experience with Citrus Swirl made me think I was eating baby aspirin flavoured ice cream. 🤢
All that laziness worked up enough appetite for the third and final Citrus Soft Serve- the One, the Only, the BEST, Lime-flavour nestled softly into a Peter Pan Float. Did I ask for a half serving of this one? Nope. Did I finish it all? Yep. Oink.
Now that is delicious! Love the tart lime with the bubbly sprite. So refreshing!

If you arrive by bus from a RESORT, it’s not quite so bad. If, however, you go by bus from a PARK, it will suck 5 times more than arriving by Lyft. Because you can’t. Well, directly anyway. Why on EARTH they don’t have buses from the parks to the prime dinner spot after early closings is simply beyond me, especially with so few TS options in the parks right now, and especially at MK, where I was coming from.

This sounds like a PITA. They used to have them.

Make your way through the temp screening tents and just keep gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooing. By morning, you might be there.

They really shouldn't have dumped the two bus stops, but no one asked me....

If you are looking for a quieter, more elegant, atmosphere, Jaleo is not your place. The pacing is certainly relaxed and intimate, but it is noisy and bustling. The music is an upbeat Salsa-style and not played as a subtle background noise. If it’s harp or classical you want, best to look elsewhere. But if you’re still ready to pour some passion into your evening and are ready to draw it out eating amazing food this might just be your jam.

I'll keep that in mind. The first time there it was really nice. I'm sure there was music, but it wasn't the overly thumping, yell to hear your table mates kind of place. The second time, that's exactly what it was.

when I popped this little gem in my mouth it was…. surprising. A giant burst of green olive juice hit my tongue like a culinary freight train. It was not your typically fruity Boba Ball.

Not being a fan of olives, this would be my worst nightmare.

And Gazpacho Estilo Algeciras- Classic chilled Spanish soup made with tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers $11

And another soup with a beet base. (Sorry, the TR skills were slipping a bit by here.)

Our first trip here the soup was not beet based, I liked I a lot better. I guess I'm not a fan of beets.

The girls ordered this next which were served on a funky plastic pillow like thing that I thought might fit more into CRT more than here. Regardless, the Croquettes were delicious and went down far too easily.

Croquetas de Pollo- Traditional chicken fritters $12.5

These were so good!

Along with that, they ordered the VERY traditional Papas Bravas (because you can't do Spanish Tapas and not get these)

Patatas Bravas- A Jaleo favorite: fried potatoes with spicy tomato sauce and aioli $10

And these! Just yum!

Gambas al Ajillo- The very, very famous tapa of shrimp sauteed with garlic $18

MEK liked them so much, we ordered it again. Oink.

I think we got this too, but I remember the shrimp being more trimmed, meaning sans heads.

Would I return? Definitely yes! Not every trip, but this one’s a keeper.

I'd go back too, but on a weeknight and maybe sit outside.

For ease of transition, let’s stick around MK for the continuation of our snack circuit.
Thanks for thinking of us.
What better way to kiss the goods than to make sure they are cold, sweet, and citrusy!
Well you can kiss my... um... as you were saying?
Citrus Challenge, 2021: Eat the 3 Classic Citrus Soft Serves in one day substituting them for a meal.
I do remember you saying you were going to do this. :)
Best get started early for this one! 11:55 AM to be exact.
Noon is early?
Mik and MEK were itching for some pool time. Not that it was even remotely warm enough to swim.
So... did they? Or did they bail on that.
I sauntered up to the counter with my sideshooter cocked and ready. Wait….. wrong story….
I sauntered up to the counter with my plastic spoon ready
Just as dangerous... for the waist line.
and was dished up a most ample and delicious serving of Pineapple Dole Whip. No float, no cake. Did I mention you can’t get the cake anymore?
Didn't know that, but... not a fan, so I'm not traumatized like yourself.
There are times that Disney just sucks. This is one of those times.
I was free to slide back and forth taking photos
I've done that :) Fun!
everything, is on the potential chopping block for more woke bologna.
:sad2:
We wants the Redhead! (back... as she was...)
Nice finishing effect on that one. :thumbsup2
(The Cannoniers kindly request you sit quickly.)

Nice.
(Nice hat tip to the East India Trading Co.)
I had to look and search for what you were talking about. Found it eventually. :)
(Guys! The pigs have HAIR!!)
Well of course they do, Liesa. I mean... it's a pandemic. Nobody shaves every day anymore.
All that marauding made me a thirsty Redhead,
We wants the Redh... whoops!
I opted for a HALF serving of straight up Swirl.
Half???
I'm sorry, but the Citrus Challenge stated:
Citrus Challenge, 2021: Eat the 3 Classic Citrus Soft Serves in one day substituting them for a meal.
A half serving does not appear in the official rules (of which there is only the one line as stated above.)
“I mean it!! I really only want HALF of a serving! It’s just me and I’m not that big of an eater.”

“Here ya go, Princess, and it’s “on Mickey” today.”
:)
Nice when a little bit of magic happens.
But not before I asked some fellow Adventurers to snap a photo of Lil ‘Ol Me.
I had noticed that earlier with the Aloha Isle photo, but since you brought it up...

You're wearing a mask... but then you lent your phone (I see your camera at your waist) to someone else to handle, and at some point will put that up to your face.

I'm not judging, but... I am noticing it.
With all the screening going on... would you be safe? Almost certainly. But still, it did give me pause to think on it.
In my case it was to ramble up and through the Swiss Family’s Treehouse, since was right there and I am one to loathe extra steps.
Sure. You're lazy. Might as well climb several stories of stairs.
For as feisty as I am, I am also lazy.
:lmao:
Did I ask for a half serving of this one? Nope. Did I finish it all? Yep. Oink.
Well... it is good. :)
I tossed the red piece of feather-shaped wax
Hmm... white chocolate, I think? In that case... toss away.

Well, that's a bummer. Nothing like looking forward to something and building up the anticipation only for a let-down.

Sometimes what’s known and close by will have to do. Know what’s usually close by and well-known? If it were anywhere but Disney parks, you’d be correct with McDonalds, but this is a Disney park, so how about we go with $ixbucks?

I would have chosen McDonald's instead. :duck:

Citrus Challenge, 2021: Eat the 3 Classic Citrus Soft Serves in one day substituting them for a meal.

Challenge: accepted.

Another bummer. I don't think they can improve upon the float, though.

Pretty soon someone will decide they are “offended” by the scent and poof!; purchase your candles now, Folks. Time is short. I’m as salty as the 7 Seas.

As with everything, there are over-reactions and double standards and hypocrisy all over the place. Some of these things are worthy of offense. Some are not.

“I mean it!! I really only want HALF of a serving! It’s just me and I’m not that big of an eater.”

“Here ya go, Princess, and it’s “on Mickey” today.”

Hey, there's some pixie dust!

I like to think of it as efficient, but lazy works too.

Potato, Po-tah-to.

All that laziness worked up enough appetite for the third and final Citrus Soft Serve- the One, the Only, the BEST, Lime-flavour nestled softly into a Peter Pan Float. Did I ask for a half serving of this one? Nope. Did I finish it all? Yep. Oink.

That's more like it.

Good thing this TR is going at a turtle's pace.
Well good. My life isn't. Been working 10-12 hour days...a project that should take 1.5-2 years, we've been given 5 months. I keep thinking....good, fast, cheap...pick 2. Except in this case, more like 1!

Just such good (easily clean upable) fun!
It was. I watched it one time at home and just NOT the same.

I KNEW there had to be a system of sorts- now I know!
Glad to share the one item I have a clue about with ya!

LOL!! Mysterious they are!
Talk like Yoda, you did. ;)

I'll let you and PK hash that out as I have absolutely NO clue at ALL about such things as I merely understood the pun and left it at that. ;)
Nah. He's more nit picky than I am...wasn't thinking it through when I made my funny(?) Comment.

Thank you kindly. :)
Only speaking the truth, but you're welxome!

Luck. Sheer dumb luck.
Can you send some of that my way? As many times as I've been on it, nary a good pic of the cheetah.

Mesmerizing is a word that comes to mind.
Mesmerizing works!
Good word.

Driveling is important, though. Without it, we wouldn't have basketball, after all.
So, I guess that means you're an expert as basketball. :duck:

Near the Banana? Where (and what) is that? Was it someplace you just slip into?
I see what you did there. But I think it's more something you slip on. Maybe it's like a robe.

That cold, huh? What was it? 70F? 75F?
It was T-shirt weather for you...in the 30s.

Thanks for sharing your snacks with us. Sorry the avocado toast was a disappointment. I'll stay away from it when we're at CBR in 12 days. I do want to try the totchos. We're big fans of the Starbucks breakfast offerings so I'm sure we'll be getting some of those. It's not a trip to Disney if you don't get a Dole Whip or citrus swirl.

I think you're already back there so have a great trip and safe travels.

Nah. He's more nit picky than I am...wasn't thinking it through when I made my funny(?) Comment.
Jealousy will get you nowhere.

;)
So, I guess that means you're an expert as basketball. :duck:
Nicely done!

And, in that spirit... yes!!
I see what you did there. But I think it's more something you slip on. Maybe it's like a robe.
Who knows! It's one of the mysteries of life.
It was T-shirt weather for you...in the 30s.
::yes::
I think you're already back there so have a great trip and safe travels.
