So I took the leap and applied for the AMEX platicorn offer (125K SUB w/10x grocery & gas) on Sunday which was the last day of my targeted offer before it expired. Today, I got a fancy package in the mail and y'all didn't tell me I'd ALSO get a unicorn kind of credit card! That thing is heavy! I have no idea where to start or what to look for with these offers you keep referring to, but I'm already feeling kinda fancy 🤣

I really wish I could find a reason to change my Delta flight LOL
You may have called us in the past to adjust your travel plans. Because we know plans can change, we now have an easier way for you to take control of your travel. If you need to change your flight, you can quickly make changes at delta.com or with the Fly Delta App. Then, as a one-time offer, we’ll gift you 2,500 bonus miles. Rest assured, the value of your ticket will not be lost. Offer ends June 30, 2021.

My Paypal is still missing but I did manage to get Wine Insiders to credit the offer without any chat intervention so that's a win. I've used it 3x, the first 2 didn't post but I chatted with Wine Insiders and they gave me a $30 refund which doesn't count against my 3x Amex Offers. I think I'm going to give everyone wine for their birthdays.

Mine is October 16! :teeth:

What is this AMEX platicorn you speak of? I have no AMEX at the moment but am looking to get one as soon as I meet my MSR on my CSP.

Just did another $1000 at Staples. I hate that the manager has to do it and it's always the same guy. Hoping to get there two or three more times this week. Wish OD/OM deals would come back.
Staples by school already had none at noon yesterday. I didn't even bother with the other as it almost always never had them. I'm now trying to figure out how I'm gonna hit the $15k for Hilton if they keep selling out like this!

Looking for my next card. This will be the first time since I’ve started this hobby that’ll I’ll be applying for a car loan (most likely June/July when I make my last payment). Would opening a card now impact the interest rates for the car loan?

I just bought a car yesterday, 0% for 84 mos. I even did it solo (Ex was supposed to be on the app, but they forgot to run his, LOL). I just opened a card in Jan, and October, and refi'd in October. So you should be fine.

Anyone else get this?

We'll reward you with 1,000 IHG® Rewards Club bonus points when you use your new contactless card to tap to pay 3 times (minimum $3.50 per transaction) between Dec. 15, 2020 and Mar. 31, 2021.*

I got it and earned on my IHG premier and my free :)

My $10 dining credit FINALLY posted. That took FOREVER!
And in other news....yesterday I bought my 15yo a car :oops:o_O Her dad was supposed to be on the loan and title with me, but the dealership didn't see his credit app. So it's only in my name. I hopeI don't regret not getting him on it. I have my lease now, and I just refi'd the house. So outside of my vaca home, I don't see myself needing to worry. I'm happy to be done with the car buying mess! We let her drive it off the lot. Now she just better pass her drivers test next week!

Right?? Brings new meaning to the words, "I could do some serious damage with this thing."

Also in the over 50 and no email and I didn't cut it close either. I'd think pending would be fine as long as they post with a Feb date.

I got the email yesterday evening. It starts out - (my name), Treat yourself to something special. And then it says, You've earned your bonus points - now turn them into free nights, room upgrades and more.

It came from 'world of hyatt credit cards from chase'.

But, not posted to my account yet.

Oh yeah I got that but figured it was just the normal you've got points why not spend them that they periodically send out.

ETA I've put over 14k on it with the house fixes in the last month.

I figure it was the bonus since I haven't earned any Chase Hyatt points in quite some time. Hope I'm right.

Just a DP on the Amex Plat airline fee credit: on 2/25 I used the card to buy two SW flights, both with EBCI. The charges were 78.98, 20.00, 71.70 and 25.00. I was credited for all four charges on 2/28. I now have $4.32 left of the $200 credit. And I got 5x points for all those charges. (One of the flights - including EBCI - totaled nearly $175, so I bought myself a $75 SW gift card, applied that first, and then charged the balance to the Plat.)

I know with Southwest I can select “change” on a booked flight, and then select the exact same flight. I do this for a fare drop. Perhaps that is possible with Delta and it would trigger the 2500 miles?

My DS is 17 and heading to college in the Fall of 2022 😢😢. Is there anything I can/should be doing now to help him establish credit? He’s got a debit card attached to his checking account that he uses for all of his expenses. I’m wondering if I should make him an AU on one of our accounts (DH and I have CFF, CFU, CSP and CSR)? I wouldn’t actually give him a card or let him charge to the account 😂, but would being an AU help him build a credit history and be helpful down the line? Or not really?

My first card was a discover card. I got it in college also. It was a great first card to start out with. I know others can give advice on AUs

The Platicorn:

It is a targeted offer for 125k MR points after $5,000 spend, and includes 10x points on gas and grocery in the first 6 months. My P2 triggered it with the card match tool, so that might be an option. The annual fee is up there, at $550 I believe, but is offset if you take advantage of the card benefits and frequent offers.

I got that but did not do the 50 transactions so it was not for that.

Yes. Making them an AU is good for their credit. I put all 3 of mine on our oldest card. I did give it to them too, I like knowing they have it in case of emergency.
