Aunt Jemima now "Pearl Milling Company"

It’s too long and doesn’t roll off the tongue.

That was my first impression as well. DH said that he wouldn't be surprised if we see them simplifying it to something along the lines of "Pearl Mill" once people understand the historical reason for the new name and get used to it no longer being called "Aunt Jemima".

I do like that it actually has a tie to the company now. I think it just needs to be a bit shorter. I know it's only 2 syllables longer than "Aunt Jemima", but it seems so much longer to me for some reason. Maybe it's simply due to adding the 3rd word. :)

Homemade pancakes are never as good as this mix. I am a proficient baker and home chef. I never make pancakes or waffles from scratch and that is because of something mentioned above: consistency of ingredients. There is a good reason why these kinds of "shortcut" mixes exist. Even in the best restaurants in the world, they use pancake and waffle mix.

That said, everyone has their preferred mix. I grew up with this mix, and it is still the absolute best for pancakes, IMO. It's not the best for waffles (Carbon's Malted all the way for those). The syrup isn't my choice due to the HFCS, but I prefer Log Cabin taste and texture and it has no HFCS so that is what we use here. Pure maple syrup is overly sweet and 3 of the 4 of us can't handle it (literally hurts my sensitive teeth), plus it's so watery it just makes pancakes fall apart.

I don't have an opinion on the name, and am glad they didn't change the packaging too much.

Completely changing the name is a marketing disaster imo

As others have posted... Who puts corn syrup on their pancakes? I get the 1 liter jugs of real maple syrup at Costco. Far superior to corn syrup.

Well.... I'm one extreme to the other.... I enjoy local NY maple syrup, BUT I grew up eating what is basically entirely corn syrup... good old King Syrup, which is still an occasional guilty pleasure. It's one of those syrups where you have to wait a while for it to come out of the jar. Jemima is not enough of either, lol.

The photo in the story does just that.
Maybe they need to make it bigger or move it?

Looking at that box quickly, I honestly didn't see the banner. Maybe others will, but I doubt I'll be the only one. :confused3 Not that it matters much to me; I didn't regularly buy the products anyway. Now the Uncle Ben's rice is my regular brand and I will go out of my way to get familiar with the way it is re-packaged.

Since I mill my own wheat and tap my own maple trees, I have no need for that stuff ;) :rolleyes1

I have neighbors who think exactly like you do. They keep their own chickens to ensure their eggs are fresh and hyper local. The local Nextdoor social network blows up when they say they have extra eggs available for sale. People will line up fighting over those eggs in a scene that resembles a Walmart Black Friday sale.

Not a consumer of the product/brand, yet I do understand the rebranding. We already have the popular Bob’s Red Mill. So Pearl Milling Company makes sense. The brand name will probably be shorten down the road to Pearl Mill Co. or Pearl Mill.

Who eats breakfast anymore, anyway?

Should have gone with "Woke Brand(r) Syrup" It's the best part of woke-ing up.

I think the better question is, who eats pancakes for breakfast anymore? For us, it's usually dinner. Who has time to make pancakes in the mornings? I mean, I make breakfast for the family on Sundays, but every other day it's fend for yourself and ain't no one making pancakes.

Eggo Pancakes for the win, lol

I thought I was a rebel when I once in awhile put strawberry jam on my toast.....in other words it's usually just plain 'ol toast for me.

Gosh now I want to go out to Denny's for some pancakes.

A lot of people do. What do they normally serve at Denny's, IHOP, McDonald's, Burger King, etc on pancakes and waffles? And at home there's way more people just using Log Cabin, Mrs. Butterworth's, (the former) Aunt Jemima, or Hungry Jack syrup than real maple.
