Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

You can also use Grubhub, Waitr, etc to have food delivered to your resort.
Thanks...I can get that at home. I live an hour away and we are driving but don’t want Disney transportation. Desperately need a change of view and menu. We usually go to food and wine and stay onsite. Still plan on it , just need an ADR plan. Don’t want a burgers and sandwich stay...again...can do that at home.

Technically you could fly down if you felt comfortable and aren’t concerned about getting health insurance for the trip. The land border is closed but flights leave from some of the major airports daily.

We are booked for Dec and playing a wait and see approach.

They’ve cancelled flights, as OnceUponATime said, but for us the bigger problem is the mandatory 14 day quarantine on return. I’m retired, so I‘d be fine, but DH can’t take that much time off work. That’s the reason we usually do frequent long weekend trips in the first place, because he can manage a couple of days off but that’s about it. He’s the manager so he can’t work from home, and the quarantine enforcement is pretty strict so he couldn’t sneak out to work even if he wanted to.

It is what it is, and we’ve used our spring/summer travel budget to pay our niece’s first year university tuition and residence, so at least something good is coming out of all this.

I still miss Disney desperately, though. (Actually, I miss traveling anywhere.) Since we should have been at WDW last weekend, we went mini golfing instead, Saturday afternoon peak time in the blazing sun, just to recreate the Disney experience of long lines surrounded by cranky overheated kids running amuck while frustrated parents yelled and tried to keep them in check. LOL

Westjet and AC YYZ to MCO were both bookable for September as late as early last week, as soon as the closure was extended by the government all flights disappeared until September 30th - the day after the end of the current closure.

It’s been rolling like that since the extensions started.

Just had a look, all the direct flights are gone. There are still a few flights, but all connecting and all of them have horrendous layovers. I see that Oct 1st the direct flights pick back up. The closure is until Sep 21st, but it appears they have all but written off Sep.

They were promoting their return to flying internationally quite heavily in July, which is why I figured otherwise.

Makes sense! Well I hope things work out in favour of you guys. We all need a little Disney at the moment!

I have to say, after reading all those details.........

That article contains absolutely no information whatsoever.

LOL! I had to click on it just to see what it said at all, which is nothing.

The Solarium area is very nice and the food offerings are excellent. I think people will really like it if given a chance. The specialty coffees are going to be available again which is good.

The Ale & Compass is now available for online reservations, but only for breakfast (no buffet) and dinner. Apparently, it will not be serving lunch, until further notice. A&C reopens on 08/24/2020, with dinner starting at 5:00 p.m. The A&C Lounge also will reopen (at 4:00 p.m.) and has limited food options.

Got a reservation when it first went live, but probably will cancel. My friend who is coming can't have gluten. And by looking at the menu what they have now, it seems she would only have 2 options, the burger, or the half chicken.

Yeah, from early reviews I've read it was light on the gluten-free options to begin with, but now with the modified menu it is a wasteland desert.

She can just ask for a chef to make her a GF meal. That's always an option at any restaurant.

One trip I did a couple of years ago, we had one person in our party that had many allergies - mostly to foods in the nightshade family, (think tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, potatoes, etc) as well as gluten. Each table service restaurant we went to, the chef came out and spoke to her, and created some of the most wonderful meals for her, and delivered it to the table personally to be sure there was no mix ups. She absolutely loved each one! They really go above and beyond to ensure every guest with food allergies is well taken care of!

Do you know if the solarium setup will have coffee for mug refills and mickey waffles? If I have to walk to Ale & Compass to fill my mug in the morning, that could be a dangerous situation for anyone who comes into contact with me! 😡

Speaking of mug refills, I keep forgetting to ask- Are you allowed to bring an old mug from home and have it "re-activated" for your trip? We have sooooo many because we get them just about every trip, but I really don't need a new one.

I was curious about mug refills too... are they scanning your mug each time? Scanning your magic band?
Can you get hot coffee at the mug refill stations? (Do they put the coffee in a soda cup?) Is there creamer?

I believe the chip in your mug would expire After your last trip, therefore you would need to purchase a new mug. You can get coffee, hot chocolate, soda drinks, tea, water. Yes , with creamers etc...

Boathouse is the only one where I've basically been given carte blanche to ask for anything. Every other restaurant it has been "The offerings are on the menu. It is POSSIBLE we could adapt something, but..." where I got the very distinct impression that they only wanted to do what was on the menu. And if there's no dedicated fryer, there is nothing they can do about that (though that seems the simplest fix of anything - most places that have fryers have more than one...just dedicate one!).

Make a cup in your room before you go and drink it as you walk over?

Wow, that's so different that our experience. In each case, the chef came to the table, and spoke with the guest about what they could and could not have. They did ask if anything on the menu looked good, and if so, they could alter, but usually, they ended up creating something totally around her needs. We were very impressed.

The restaurants where we ate that trip and experienced this were: Rose & Crown, Tokyo Dining, Coral Reef, Yak & Yeti, Skippers, Sci-Fi, BOG breakfast, Ale & Compass breakfast (menu, not buffet), and some of the QS ones, especially Satuli. I'm pretty sure everywhere we ate, they did everything they could to accommodate her, and if they didn't have separate fryers or something like that, they suggested something else for her. This was in November of 2018, so not too long ago. Has it changed that much in 2 years?

No waffles, all hot food will be stuffed handheld sandwiches. The breakfast scrambled egg/sausage/bacon one is sooooo good. There is also a mcmuffin style one but with pancakes as the bread that comes with syrup.

Ale&compass has mobile order right? So you could get a coffee and then mobile order for breakfast if you wanted waffles.

Yes, you can refill with coffee. Cans will be handed out (extremely limited options) if you want a soda 'refill' and don't want to go to a standard refill spot.

Wow, that is disappointing to hear. No idea if they have a dedicated fryer there TBH but I'm going to ask.
