We have a Discover card already. It doesn’t look like the citi double cash has a sub right now unless I’m missing something? That’s true about URs. We have a CF but it’s from PCing Dh’s old CSR. Can he still apply for the CF if he already has one?
He would have to PC the CF to something else to apply for the CF

But If he never received a CFU sign up bonus you may be better off having him apply for that ..it has support links...so he could then send one to you so you could apply if you haven’t received a SUB on it

Cap One Spark for business is at $500 for $4,500 spend in 3 months

Coligny and Palmetto Dunes are both close to a lot of dining options. Folly Field is not that familiar to me. The beach at both Palmetto and Coligny is pretty much the same - wide, great for walking and sitting out. I haven't stayed anywhere except Disney so I haven't got any go to condo tips for you. I've almost stayed in the Coligny area a couple of times now, and probably would be happy either there or in Palmetto Dunes.
We prefer Coligny to Folly Field, but both are very nice. Coligny rates high in my book as far as changing rooms, showers, and restrooms go. Some of the nicest we've ever seen at a public beach! Parking is easier at Folly imo, and less of a walk. Never been to Palmetto Dunes. Coligny is in a more dense area so there's a lot around as far as food, gas stations, bike rentals, etc.
Like @Judique said, Folly Field is further out and will have less restaurants. Folly Field and Coligny Beach Park are both public beaches. Coligny Beach will be pretty crowded since there are lots of shops and restaurants right there. Palmetto Dunes is a restricted access beach, so you have to have a pass to get into the area.

We really like Palmetto Dunes and just rented a place there a few weeks ago since the Disney resort was closed. It seems like many of the condos were built in the 80s and some have been updated, but others haven't. There are a few restaurants in Palmetto Dunes, but we usually venture outside the resort area to eat.

Hilton Head is a great family beach area with lots of wonderful restaurants and biking trails. I hope you enjoy your trip!
Thanks, all. Good points. I am leaning towards Palmetto Dunes right now.

@disneybirds were most places open for food? I was looking and it seemed like it was most things were open. Any recommendations for restaurants? This will be our first time to HH.

Mulling over all kinds of ideas. One thing we're looking at is staying at the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort and Spa. I have about $1,000 to use from my Arrival+ card as well as a bunch of UR points on our CSR. Also thrown into the mix is that DH and I each just got a Hyatt card. We will not have earned our bonus points in time to use them on this trip, but I don't know if I would get any benefits by charging part / all of the room on the card. I believe I'd get the bonus points, but are there other things - free breakfast, etc? Also, there is a resort fee for the hotel. Is there anyway of getting that taken care of from having the card?

The room we are looking at it $250/ night or 25,000 points per night.

I've never had many options before, so I don't want to overlook something that could help us with the booking.

Thanks for any advice!

Hyatt award stays come with waived resort fees. But it wouldn't be worth it to transfer UR to Hyatt at that cash rate since you can get 1.5 with CSR through the portal (and for a limited time pay yourself back at 1.5 with groceries, dining, and home improvement as well). For a Hyatt Regency, I believe the only way to get free breakfast is to be Globalist (highest status tier, not that easy to get).

You would get 5x Hyatt for booking direct and another 4x for using your Hyatt card.

He’s never gotten a CFU bonus so that’s definitely an option. I added it to my list of potential cards for him. Thanks!

I did see that one and have it on the list as a possibility. Capital one seems to have quite a few we can choose from

Just FYI that Capital One business cards are one of those that will report to your personal credit report.

Hooray! When confirming my ticket I actually was able to find 2 spaces in F by departing IAH on Tuesday rather than Monday, and I'll plan to be up again in about two weeks to change to our real return flight. Taxes and fees were $116.50 for two people. I'm going to fly first class for the first time ever! :D

Is anyone planning any travel this year? I cancelled our Nov cruise and have pretty much accepted no travel until 2021.
Dh threw out yesterday that he wants to go to universal. I didn’t cancel my time off work in November so it would be easy to plan a trip. I have enough URs to cover the hotel and maybe car rental. I should have almost enough SW points to cover the flights if the Sunday return flight cost goes down.

I just don’t know. I’ve shifted my plans to planning a big Hawaii trip in 2022 and those URs could cover one of the $1200 plane tickets.
Will my kids wear mask all day? They do ok with short outings and I wear a mask all day at the hospital so I think we should be ok.
Will the 14 day quarantine from CT to Fl still be in place?

I was pretty excited when he mentioned it yesterday but not so sure now. Maybe I just don’t want to excited about another trip only to have to cancel.

We still have a trip bookEd to Disney in November. I am doubtful we will go but keeping the reservation as long as possible just in case. I also want to go to California and Hawaii and am thinking like you about 2022. I don’t want to plan a big trip like that and then have to cancel. I am hopeful that we will do “something” this winter by February or March. My DH wants to drive to Florida, he doesn’t want to fly anywhere anytime soon. So all of my SW points will just have to wait. We live in NY so we can’t go to Florida either until that quarantine is lifted.

Thank you. It seems so much more organized when someone else writes it out. If we end up going, I think I'll just book a few nights direct and pay with my arrival+ to use up those dollars and then book the rest through the UR portal.

That's kind of how we are too. We are taking off the week of July 5th and DH really wants to go somewhere. We are looking at Clearwater Beach, but I just can't get excited about it for some reason. We are not from one of the quarantine states for Florida, so we wouldn't have that issue, but everything just seems so strange right now.

We were there back in mid-May and most places were open but with new guidelines and seating limits. I am sure more things are open now. Lots of restaurants have outdoor seating. For less expensive options, we like Java Burrito, Dough Boys Pizza (definitely order to go, the place is tiny but they have good chopped salads and pizza), Wayback Burgers (right across the street from Palmetto Dunes). For a nicer dinner, we like Hudsons (they had moved lots of tables outside and great place for sunset views), Low Country Backyard, Frankie Bones (only has indoor seating). For breakfast pastries, we like Hilton Head Social Bakery (across the street from Palmetto Dunes), French Bakery (also across the street from Palmetto Dunes and it is a sit down restaurant, but pricey), Palmetto Dunes market (the sell 2 huge cinnamon rolls for $5), and Duck Donuts.

There are so many good places to eat in Hilton Head!

ETA: If you stay in Palmetto Dunes, you used to be able to order from the Disney Beach House menu through a walk-up window. Not sure if this will change with the resort opening today. If it is still open, you could get a Dole Whip or Mickey Bar!

I was just in HH a couple weeks ago visiting my parents, and pretty much everything is open. Many restaurant workers are not wearing masks, in case that factors in to your decision. If you're open to cooking and like fish, Barnacle Bill's sells local fish and shellfish (that you cook yourself at home). They often run out of the best stuff, so get there closer to opening if you can. Hudson's is my favorite restaurant. They have a happy hour menu that they only serve on their outside patio that's really good. You have to ask for it, though. If you go there and drink alcohol, get a mai tai!

Don't really have a good answer on this. I’m mulling over the same question with propane prebuy end of this month (winter heating), college tuition, and car and homeowners insurance due all this summer. I just don't think a Plastiq promo is coming soon. Does anyone else? I hope I’m wrong. I’ll be 4/24 until early October, but don’t mind using my personal slot now.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, I don't think that a Plastiq promo is on the horizon either.

Do you have the increased 20k support on the biz plat? Maybe something Amex with a cross support. The plat if you can pull up at least 75k, it has the advantage of the temporary credits right now. Or if you don't want to add to 5/24, Hilton biz or a Green biz (25k, AF waived).

Thanks for the great suggestions! I haven't really thought about opening a new card, but was trying to figure out if it made sense to pay the fee to charge those expenses on an existing card. Lots to think about.

I have a trip booked there for a mother/daughter/friends beach trip in October. As @wanderlust7 mentioned resort fees are waived for point bookings. The room I was looking at was $304/night, but then with taxes and resort fees it came to $1500 for 4 nights, so I opted to transfer URs to save the $128 for the resort fees for our 4 night stay and use Hyatt points at 25k/night. It still may make sense to use your Arrival+ money if you just want to use that, but then you would end up paying the resort fees.

I am. Trips keep getting changed or cancelled, but I'm still trying. Our next trip was Maine in August, but I found out that Maine will still have a 14 day quarantine for visitors then unless you get a test 3 days prior to visiting. Plan B is Disneyland and C is Orlando. We have Universal APs so we have the option to go there or just hang out at the resort. We have SW points so I make bookings for plan A, B, and C, and cancel as needed. With Hilton's changes to their FNC I even went ahead and booked hotels for Hawaii for spring break 2021. At this point everything I book is fully refundable online. I also have a Florida beach trip scheduled for October. I just hope for the best and keep booking things, hoping that one day soon I'll be able to go.
