New D23 Expo Superthread! (6/24/2019)

I was able to get the panels I wanted except parks and resorts. So we got both the haunted mansion ones and Disney on broadway along with a couple other smaller ones. Even though the store passes were still showing times available I was not able to actually add them so we skipped those.

Also got the Pixar ball and frozen giveaways.

Apparently we had a better experience compared to some.

I’m surprised to hear that you don’t have to register your guest for the stage/store/talent passes. I assumed (obviously incorrectly) that when it asked if a guest would be with you, you’d have to enter that guests badge # and some point during the confirmation. That would certainly cut down on fraud (aforementioned twitter selling) AND I wonder how many people added a guest with no one in mind and will end up abandoning that spot (good for standbyers).

I’m satisfied with my selections but now a little nervous that there could be a frenzy with the lines that will cause worse waits than before for standby for any additional presentations or store visits....

At least you got to select anything. I’m half tempted to just say “**** it” and just spend the entire weekend at Disneyland and watch the live feeds from a line for a ride. No way in hell I’m standing in line for hours just for the privilege to buy limited edition Disney Expo merchandise. I waited in 2002 for 5 hours to go to the store at the Star Wars Celebration and I will never do that again.

Me too about Disneyland. but I’m going to walk the floor, go into the archives exhibit and maybe wait for the dreams and Mog. I don’t consider my only option viewing something about High school musical a choice. I consider it leftover garbage (my opinion)

If they had Multiple top panels a day with smaller amazing breakout sessions followed by shopping and signing Disney could get away with something like this. However they really only have one big panel per day followed by smaller panels that are in high demand and then lastly panels that are filler. Disney really screwed up but I bet they won’t admit it.

I’ve been going to Walt Disney World since I was a kid and Disneyland for the past 10 years or so (FYI I’m 40). The only things I haven’t done is a cruise and aluani (both on my bucket list), but I have done several adventures by Disney. This is the first time I have truly been majorly disappointed in how they handled something and that says something.

However, the food lines, for anything except the pop up next to the conference rooms, were horrifically long. I stood in line forever at Contempo Cafe for grab n go and had to run back and woof down my food in line for the next panel. There's such a limited amount of places to eat right at Contemporary for the number of convention attendees and hotel guests. I lost weight during the convention, but gained it back at the park afterward. Other than the food access, it was pretty excellent. If I go by myself next time, I might the VIP package, whatever it's called. They are provided breakfast and lunch.

I've never done one in Orlando. I don't remember the one in Anaheim being too terrible for food, but we had all of Downtown Disney to choose from.

That’s what I plan to do too, because I have heard and read that they don’t consistently enforce it. I don’t get why places get so greedy about getting money when they aren’t providing food and water, basic life necessities, without long waits or sometimes even running out. The F1 track in Austin is terrible about it.

I am in a Facebook group where they are in direct communication with D23. This year, they are claiming to be strictly enforcing the food and beverage rules.

It does say that if you have a medical need you can bring in food. I have food allergies and I hate, hate bringing attention to it, but events like this are the only place where god help the person who tries to stop me bringing in food.

Same. I don't want to make a big deal about anything, but I can't put myself at the mercy of what may or may not be available in there.

Do they ask for paperwork indicating that you have food allergies?

I was told you do not. I am bringing my email from Disney, in case I need it.

I'm in, but it's nothing but error and time outs. About half the timeslots are still open, but I can't book anything now.

I got so many "sorry" errors, it was ridiculous.

Same! I waited 20 minutes most to get into most of the stores. Plus, panel lines are never usually never crowded as long as you get there an hour to an hour and half early

I think you were lucky. This was for sure not my experience.

I somehow ended up with three stage passes for Sunday? Parks didn't show up on the selection screen but it's in the email I got from them. This system has some bugs for sure.

Definitely some bugs! Here was my experience. I got most of the Stagepasses I wanted, but I was trying to get one on Sunday that errored out. I did my second one and it went through fine. I went back and tried the first one, and it said I had a conflict. I thought that was odd, since I could see that I only had one thing scheduled that was nowhere near the first panel, but maybe it was an error. I did the rest of my days and went back to try to get the first one on Sunday again. It kept telling me I had a conflict. Still no conflict showing in my selections. I tried again and and again and got the same message, so I finally gave up. Then, I got my email confirmation and I got the panel! It never showed up in my selections, but was still holding it for me. Because I had secretly (to me anyway) booked a panel for that time, of course I had a conflict when I tried to book it again! Weird.

Lucky you! I couldn't get any giveaways or Marvel panels. I also got no Storepasses, despite all the ones that still showed available and the fact that I tried many different times. Standby it is! Do we know if there's any kind of standby for Marvel?

Instead of 2 StagePasses per day, I think people should've been limited to 2 StagePasses total, and you would choose which day(s) you'd want to reserve your StagePasses. Also, each StagePass would have to be used on a different stage. That way you had to choose what was a priority.

We were lucky to go it quite early....first ten minutes. And to that still was.locked out of 4 of 5 marvels....albeit we went for AOS and book signings then panels then finally went to marvels.....

For those having done comic con this is pretty organized for a multiple reservation system online and did as good as I would have hoped.

IMHO the guest is purely a sidekick for the experience. For signings....one signing for that reservation....not two. Group photo OP. Not individual. The limited take aways are for the reservation. I'm not expecting two signed books with Docter but if they give it to my guest....I'm not going to complain but I dont think I have standing for my guest to be obliged to get one.

Wi-fi was bad on my end 😞. I guess I'll consider myself lucky to be even going to a Disney event. I basically don't go on any trips or excursions, other than SDCC (with the help of my brother). so I'm just going to try and make the best of it!👍

Lucky you. I was online at 3p. Could not get in for 1.5 hours and at that point nothing left. Waste of my precious time, money, blood pressure and ruined my love for Disney. Worst ever experience. You must have the expensive sorcerer package dollar ticket. The rest of us all got nothing

Hello everyone! I was also one of the unlucky ones who wasn’t able to get any of the major panels. Had a question re: usefulness of gold membership for getting into the panels. Goal is to wait as little as poss but still get in - I don’t care so much about being in the front. Asking just based on prior exp, since I know it’ll probably be different this year with so many (luckier) people in with reservations.

Basically, does the gold line cap earlier than when the last person to get into the panel gets in the general line? In other words, when does the gold line usually get capped, and if not a gold member, when would you rec to get in the regular standby line to get into the panels?

Again, just based on past experience since I’m sure everything will be earlier this year! Thanks in advance :)

Way to go spideymike. We r going to Universal instead. Bought private ride. Were not able to get anything in reservations and we were online at 3pm. Grandkids all mad. Now happy with alternate plans. We have room on the bus.
I will never make this mistake again.

Me either. This was not fun and not in a happy place right now. So sorry to waste money. We will skip it mostly go to park and universal then drop the membership because its useless. They should not sell more tickets than can be accomodated.

Can someone clarify Standby? I heard different things about it. One is that Standby is only for when the Stage Pass don't show up. Someone said they spoke to D23 rep for this info.

But also heard that Stage Pass reservations was limited to only a percentage of the capacity. Which is it?

I only managed to get Disney +, Music of Galaxys Edge and the Haunted Mansion 50th panels. I also got Jerrod M for a signing on Saturday.

It constantly gave me server errors and sorry messages when trying to choose a supposed available store time. It showed many as available, but it constantly span and error out.

I am not a sorcerer. Just got a bit lucky I guess.

Big understatement. But enjoy and to be honest I would've done the same.

I find the music of SW:GE panel ironic considering there is minimal background music there and its a big complaint of guests :P They would've had an easier or quicker time filling it up with this "Art and Theming of Batau/Star Wars" (disney: I trademark that name for a panel and require royalties)
