I’m planning on calling virgin later today or tomorrow to see if we can at least book one way tickets.Well, I have had success moving up a statement date. I changed the stament close date on my SOs card from August 9th to the 1st and the points just posted today. That’s only a week earlier, but maybe you can try moving it up more.
Got my car insurance bill yesterday. They take Amex! So I upgraded my Amex Hilton to Ascend for 75k points for 2k spend. Offer expires 8/31, so I was going to wait until end of month but I’m halfway through MSR on CitiBiz AA card, so what the heck. Yay, more MSR.
I think I remember that the Chase IHG card does not count against 5/24. Is this correct?
Can one be approved for the card if at 5/24?

Ha! My car insurance is with Progressive. They don't take Amex, but they do take PayPal!
It will count against 5/24, but I think the thing with the old card is it wasn't subject to 5/24. Not sure about the new Premier card, if it also is not subject to 5/24.I think I remember that the Chase IHG card does not count against 5/24. Is this correct?

The IHG card is not subject to 5/24 -- meaning you can be approved for the card even if you are at or above 5/24 -- but it will add another card to your */24 count.
DoC says it's not subject to 5/24: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/f-a-...oint-50-deal/#I8217m_Under_524_Should_I_Apply

So it won't count and I can get approved if at 5/24?

I really don’t think a week will make a difference but since you have waited so long anyways what’s one more week. Thanks all for the input and tips on my double dip situation. I'm going to think it over and one thing is for sure...in the next 2 weeks I will be attempting a double dip. We're going to knock out the MSR on the CSP within a week of receiving it most likely. I have our property taxes due by 8/31 and we'll pay for the whole year on my daughter's dance class and then probably just pay 5 months of my cable bill to kill that for the year too. Of course all of this is part of the strategy and why I planned to double dip in August in the first place.
Like others have said I would do the chase double dip as it sounds like you would benefit more from that than the citi card. Plus the redemption at 1.5x is nice. After some serious research I believe I will benefit the most from opening a new CSR over the Platinum Amex and Citi Prestige (I will touch on this later).
I am interested in the benefits of a premium travel card and would like to keep one open. I am not opposed to the loophole of applying to both Sapphires on the same day. I can definitely charge the $4,000 intro for one card easily, but the second may be a little tougher. I know I will be purchasing two new iPhones and a new Apple Watch once they are revealed in September and most likely released in October. I do not think I should apply to the Sapphires until later this month to ensure the Apple purchases can be included for the 3-month promo on the second card.
I also enjoy flying JetBlue and seeing as it is not a Sapphire airline partner, I am considering the JetBlue Plus Barclaycard. One trip with my family and the saved baggage fees will more than cover the $95 annual fee. If I take 3 or 4 trips annually, that adds up. I know the CSR travel credit would cover some of this, but it is my understanding that any travel including a hotel deposit would use up the $300 travel credit.
What would be my best approach to opening these three cards? It is my understanding that the double Sapphire trick really only requires 1 hard pull on your credit since it is the same day. Does that mean I can apply for a third card sooner? And at what point would I want to change the CSP to a different Chase card? Am I missing something or is there a better plan out there?
Back to Citi… I currently have 2 Citi cards. They are very boring and lackluster: Citi Dividend card (retired) and Citi Forward card (retired) that recently changed into a Thank You Preferred card. I would ideally like to change at least one of these, but they are my two oldest lines of credit and I do not want to negatively impact that. I was hoping I could change/upgrade the Dividend card to the Double Cash card. While not the best, it would have more potential. I was also thinking I could even change/upgrade the Thank You Preferred to a Thank You Premier or Prestige card. This may be a little overkill with two Sapphires, but I figure this could be a possibility and JetBlue is a Citi partner. Am I better off forgoing the Sapphire points and Barclaycard to do this? If only the Prestige had a current opening bonus my decision would be so much simpler!
