I love credit cards so much!

@calypso726 how long did it take before the Alaska miles were deposited into your account? I just redeemed a package yesterday, so just mindlessly waiting lol

It was about 5 days.

My train of thought:
Personally I have the most experience with AA but I sent my miles to AS. For my package I chose between AA, AS, UA and DL (no southwest at my home airport). I’m over 5/24 and not looking back so getting AA miles from churning AA cards is very easy. Pass. Now that I have a plethora of AA miles I rarely fly UA and I figured if I needed to I could transfer miles from my URs. Pass. I thought about DL because the no expiration thing but I’m happy with the amount of DL miles I have in my DL bank right now and I don’t really have plans for them tbh, I’m using them this year for WDW but every other domestic redemption I see sucks. Pass. AS is where I landed after researching what I could do with AS miles and seeing I could book some international business class redemptions with those miles and I have no other way to get AS miles (no BoA relationship at the moment, they hard denied me a business card though so I’m not too optimistic on my shot at regular BoA cards).

Your thought process is exactly why I chose Alaska too.

I love how knowledgeable people on this thread are. I am very grateful for everyone’s help.!!!

Now, I have another question. I’m picking up a rental car that I reserved through Costco travel but it’s with AVIS if that matters. I have the CSR and CSP and I was planning to use one of them to rent the car and use the Chase CC primary rental car insurance. I don’t remember if I used the CSR when I originally reserved it. (Not sure if I had it yet). I might have used the Costco card....

Anyway, I just called AVIS and asked him about the credit card insurance question. The guy told me they would put a $100 hold on the original card I used, and I can’t change the card. But when I returned I could use any credit card to pay for he car. (But I need to use my CSR for the insurance.) Then he said the credit card insurance is a third party insurance and they’d still use my own car insurance and then I could get reimbursed by my credit card. That didn’t sound correct to me....

The car rental agent is wrong. The CSR and CSP offer primary car rental insurance. However, to get it you have to pay with the card AND you must completely decline any and all insurance offers from the car rental agency.

Tempted by SW card too. Have we seen if they're charging the full AF or just the difference?
Sadly, I left for the airport about 30 min later than I meant to and timberline had a line of people waiting to be seated so I having QS Mexican at my gate

Correct, other than the bonus I see no value in having both Sapphires. As a keeper card you'd only want one or the other depending on your travel needs. You can downgrade either to a CF or CFU later.

That's a tough decision :) Having both bonuses is pretty sweet. The bonus for a CF or CFU is only 15000 (17,500 if you can add an AU) in comparison. If it were me I'd probably risk it and wait until I could do the double dip. But then again, I did the double dip myself so I might be biased :p

The CSR has a minimum approval amount of a 10k credit limit and the CSP is 5k. So you'd want to make sure you have enough room CL wise for that. I was roughly 30% of CL to income before the double dip. They gave me a crazy high CL on the CSR first and then gave me the minimum CL on the CSP, both through instant approvals. After those cards I was 61% CL to income so I reached a threshold with Chase. I reduced limits and applied for another Chase card since then and I'm back to about 60% again.

Ok so update- in less than a week I got 3 cards off my credit report! I thought it would take much longer. Thank you all for the advice. I confirmed with all the credit bureaus that they no longer see these cards. :thumbsup2 I am now at 3/24.

I also lowered my credit line with my Disney VISA so I should be all good to go there... I am way under.

SO... I still have time to possibly get the CSR before I have to book my rental on early next week. However, I am also fine to wait for the double dip. My latest dilemma though is that my refinance went through on my credit report and as a result, my credit score has dropped a little. I was in the 800's and now I am at 799. Experian says what is hurting my score is trying to get too much new credit recently (thinking that must be mortgage related... can't be the one CIP application?)

I am nervous to apply and get denied again. Should I wait a few more weeks and hope that my credit boosts back up or should I be ok to go for the CSR alone, or double dip in a few weeks? I am so ready to join the fun!!! But just want to be smart and not get denied again.

Just completed a rental with Avis through Costco....I don’t remember putting credit card information in when booking. I did put cc info. in when I opened up a Avis Wizard/Preferred account for my husband and added the Costco reservation so we could skip the line
Thanks. I guess I should open an Avis account too.

I thought he was probably wrong on that. Is there anything special I have to do for CSR other than Use it to pay?

I booked my rental car through Costco Travel around the end of June and it never prompted me to enter my CC info. I made multiple ressies across multiple days (had not finalized plans yet) for this reason since no payment of any kind was required to make a ressie; just cancelled them as we began to finalize plans. Granted, ours was through Enterprise and not Avis, but one of the ressies was through Avis as well and no payment required at the time of booking. When we got to Enterprise, I simply gave them my name and reservation number from Costco and then handed over my CSR. Nothing more, nothing less. I signed up for Enterprise's loyalty program just to have one since the rental would count for something I figured. But as @calypso726 said, decline any insurance through the rental agency. Using the CSR will suffice.

It was about 5 days.

:faint: That's a lifetime practically lol. Now onto wishing time away o_O

I just called. I was told if you upgrade you will receive a credit for the unused portion of the current annual fee, and billed separately for the $149. Considering I just paid my fee, I might do this.

DP confirming that the recent Amex Amazon offers are stackable. I had the 2,000 MR for a $50+ Amazon purchase on my daughter's AU platinum card. My son's bday is coming up, and I suggested my parents get him some Bose headphones that were heavily discounted in a Prime Day deal. My parents were able to add the headphones to their cart, but the Amazon site wasn't letting them check out. So I went ahead and purchased the headphones, using my daughter's AU platinum card. (My Dad is sending me a check.). I got an order confirm, but noticed that my cc wasn't charged right away. The next morning, DD had the offer on her AU card for 3x MR for Amazon purchases, so I added that. The 2,000 MR showed up in my Amex account today, along with an additional 2x MR on the purchase. I suspect the card didn't get charged until after I added the second offer to her card, because I am not aware of Amex offers working retroactively after a purchase. But this confirms the offers are stackable. Total win for me since I'm not out of pocket anything on the purchase!!

Does anyone have Discover miles card? I am looking for a 0% APR card to put my classes for my master on (I get reimbursed by work after the class is completed). So I am thinking the 1.5 miles is better than the 1x from discover it.

I have it as well...I like it and the wi-fi credit yearly.

Booked a cruise with NCL to Bermuda next year. Paid the deposit on CSR and will transfer to Chase to pay balance with UR. I was looking into third party travel insurance but it looks like CSR has everything I need. My health insurance reimburses for all expenses outside the country and CSR has trip delay/cancellation and medical evacuation. Am I missing anything? Have you purchased separate travel insurance and if so, why? Thanks!
As long as you’re within limits, it’s ok. (Trip longer than 5 days, cover you/spouse/kids<18, etc). The Med Evac is my main concern. 100 k might not be enough, depending on where you’re going. I opted for insurance with 300k med evac coverage for our Alaska cruise.

Please explain. I need United Mileage points. Is there a way for me to use the info in this picture to get these points by applying? Is this the same card whose public offer is 40,000 points. Need specific details as I am brand new to United.

That’s an in-flight offer. Other airlines — like Southwest, Hawaiian, off the top of my head — do this too, where they offer more points in-flight than available publicly. In fact, the flight attendants will go down the aisle(s) pitching signups. Unfortunately, these enhanced offers are usually only available in-flight. For example, Southwest is offering 50k signups on their cards in-flight, but you have to sign up over the plane’s IP.

Does anyone remember when SW came out with the 60,000 bonus last year....I double dipped then so we are set with the CP until 12/31/2019..but watching for a friend

Sept-Oct'ish. I don't know exact dates but I coached a non-churning friend to double-dip for the CP and he applied in Oct.

I think it started around May last year and ended in late October. I applied in March but was able to have them match the 60,000 offer. I think it had to be within 60 days so it must have started early May/ late April. I really don't think we will see 60,000 again, sadly.

Gone are the days where you could just simply go to southwest.com/inflight to get the deal.
