"Official" 2018 Disney After Hours (DAH) Thread (Now Closed, see New 2019 Thread)

I have a question about how things at work at park closing. People with regular tickets can get in line right up until 10pm, the time at which the party starts. So , potentially, there could be a 30 minutes line at Splash Mountain at 10pm. If I went to Splash at that time with my party lanyard, do I go to the back of that 30 minute line, or do I enter through the fast pass line, which at this point should be not have any regular ticket guests in it?

I didn't see an answer on this one and so wanted to ask again how this works

Well, to be honest... I started this thread last Sept figuring I'd do one of the winter dates. I never could make a trip work out to attend, so I missed out. But now they dangle a summer DAH night when I'm actually going to be there anyway (although inconveniently on day 1 of the trip).... I mean, I almost HAVE to go now.

Disney logic. :rolleyes1
Disney logic is REAL haha. You’ve put in so much effort to share info about this event and help others have a great time... you’ve got to attend a summer date! For research if nothing else :)

It’s an interesting question. My take is that HEA acts as a natural “filter” in clearing a large chunk of the day guests population. For example, HEA is a 9:15PM on many of the DAH nights. That means it ends 9:35 (I’m rounding up a few mins). With the park closing at 10, you’ll see a lot of people call it a day and head out. Of course some will head back into the park to get in one last ride - especially with it being summer, warm, people want to maximize their vacations, etc.

Other than a few headliners, mainly rides like 7DMT, you’re generally not going to see major end of the night lines that carry over deep into DAH time.

Although it does probably point to a reason to start out with non-headliner rides and save those for later in the night when it’s all DAH folks.

When we attended in March, we headed right to new fantasy land after fireworks and that worked out great. We spent the time just before DAH doing Ariel, Dumbo, and Barnstormer with no lines. We actually got on Barnstormer just before 9 PM, the start time for our night, and were able to ride 4x without getting off. By the time we moved to other areas of the park, they had cleared out a lot.

That's Early Morning Magic (EMM). It's a ticketed event where you have access to 7DMT, PP, and WTP from 7:45-9AM and there's a buffet breakfast at Pinnochio Village House available through 10AM. It's a small event - just a few hundred people. The big appeal is 7DMT. I love it BTW!

On an EMM morning, unfortunately with a BOG reservation you're going to be held from going on 7DMT until very close to 9AM. You're still going to be able to be in line well before the rope drop crowd, but you won't likely get any early rides.

Does that help?

I'm going to be at WDW from 6/30-7/8. I was planning on doing EMM. Then Disney After Hours was announced. Now I don't know what to do. It's an adults only trip. What do you prefer, EMM or After Hours, and why?

I saw someone mention bring ziplocs for popcorn, also when will they start letting you enter FP line, how early you can get in, where to look for wristbands within the park...
Ziploc bags are the BEST idea for popcorn. We were let in close to 6 pm. Getting through the FP line on rides before DAH depends on which CM you have. We got our wristbands at the Liberty Square Guest Relations building.

Received my After hours ticket in the mail today.

I love how Disney puts extremely urgent on there letters and then you open it and it’s anorher letter you have to open.

Makes me feel like I’m attending a very special event ;)

is there a post for that compiles all the tips and tricks?

In January we saved 7DMT until last and rode it several times. Apparently there had been a small line there earlier in the night. We walked on everything we rode the whole time

When I ordered our tickets I was told I wouldn't get anything in the mail but instead would need to go to a pick up window due to the fact that we have AP.
Does that sound correct?
I always have a fear that if it's not attached to MDE they will say my tickets are lost.

We have APs and rec'd tickets in the mail. We'd already linked them to our MDEs but will likely just throw these into our park bag just in case.

I prefer DAH by far, even with kids, but no contest for an adults only trip. I did EMM with my DS a couple of years ago when he was five. It is a fantastic memory to have with him, we rode 7DMT over 10 times in a row and he absolutely loved it. But it was barely over an hour, and very limited attractions. DAH on the other hand is 3 hours with little to no lines and the chance to ride nearly everything in the park, many of them multiple times. After doing DAH during our trip last March with DS7 and DS13, we added a day at Disney to our non-Disney Orlando trip with the whole family this July just to go to another DAH.

I was able to buy my DAH tickets from when I went in January online, but now it appears you have to call?

Yeah, at the moment you have to call.

Oddly, over the last few months when Disney made things like MNSSHP, MVMCP, and the TL H20 Glow Nights available to buy tickets, it was via phone only at first. They later added the ability to buy online for each. I assume they will at some point for DAH, but TBD of course.

I'm not sure what their reasoning behind this is.
