Oh my gosh, I need that brunch in my life! You had me at bottomless mimosas. What an awesome treat to have your meal paid for like that
They were both perfection. I am a sucker for a good deviled eggs and these definitely did not disappoint.I'm drooling over a deviled egg, and that biscuit looks as amazing as you made it sound!
I'd venture to say this would probably top any french toast you'd ever had. I had no idea french toast could be so good. That looks so good!! I love a good french toast especially when it has caramelized bananas.
Happy New Year to You and Welcome Back!!!Happy New Year everyone
Finally managed to get back on the Dis today after all the festivities and seeing the old year out and New Year in and yours was the first report I caught up on.
You most definitely need to try Sanaa. Definitely one of our favorite places in the world.Sanaa’s bread service looks amazing (we’ve never eaten there but one of these days we will have to). Casey looked very grown up all dressed up for dinner and her expression at spilling your wine is hilarious!
It was awesome thanks and you're right the pixie dust just put an awesome meal over the top !Your meal at California Grill looks awesome for so many reasons but the fact that you had some wonderful pixie dust bestowed upon you all makes it even better
I have no idea what the odds were, but I"m happy to take them that day. Maybe I should have played the lottery tooAmazing pixie dust from fellow DISers! What are the odds?! That was so sweet. I hope that even without their gift you guys thought the brunch was worth it. It's my favorite "special thing" to do at WDW and (spoiler alert) I'm coming up on another review of it in my DR also. We have not had the French toast but will have to remedy that the next time we have a special occasion to celebrate at WDW. Our remarks on the steak and Benedict have been similar - seems the steak is a hit or miss item.
Thanks Melinda! Same right back at ya. I think we are all our own little disney dining (and drinking) communityI've gotta agree with your British friends, I always appreciate your review and they do help me plan future meals! And a big congrats to Jason on his half PR. From what I understand that's pretty difficult to do during a run disney event since there are so many runners on the course, so even more awesome that it was his best time followed up with a great celebratory meal!
It was the perfect post race activity. Only thing I'd mention is our reservation was at 1030 or so and it was a bit of a rush to get there. Definitely be sure to get a later reservation.Looks like an amazing brunch and awesome to do post Wine & Dine Half Marathon! We're going to do that after Wine & Dine this year since my mother wants to do Narcoossee's brunch in September.
I think she and I would visit for the sushi and biscuits alone! Those cheddar biscuits! Yum! And sushi! I knew Casey would love all the slushi!
It truly was. Great day indeed! That is so sweet one of your readers paid for you meal. Such a wonderful pixie dust!
You most certainly can't go wrong with bottomless Mimosas. Heck, you really can't go wrong with bottomless of any drink, especially in DisneyYou can never go wrong with bottomless Mimosas . I have been debating about the CG the last few trips. I may have to take the plunge once I can get over my thing with floor to ceiling windows on higher floors.
How sweet of those DISers to comp your brunch.
Thanks Caroline. It was indeed delicious and we were truly lucky to have met our new British friends. What an awesome brunch, all the food items look very delish. How wonderful to have your meals covered by the Dis readers! I agree with them, your reviews were the first thing I started reading when I joined the Dis boards. I got so many great ideas from you for different foods and places to try.
I'm glad to see all my eating helped something besides my waistline I definitely love the way you and Andi eat, sharing meals and having lots of snacks. Definitely how I see Casey and I doing Disney in the future.Andi and I use to eat only quick service our early trips until I started reading reviews and discovered another whole side to Disney, love it!
It truly was lovely and very special. What a lovely gesture by the DISers! They repeated an oft-mentioned sentiment, though. Your reviews are so helpful in choosing from the huge pool of options and I, personally, love that you all order such a variety.
Half orders, why did I not think of that!I'll be celebrating my birthday at CG brunch in Jan, though it'll be more of a late lunch. I'm also waiting to eat until I get there so that I can sample as much as possible with my cousin, who I invited to join me on the trip. Four half orders! I'll let her know that the french toast would be a wise choice but I'm not sure what beer (her preferred adult beverage) would pair well!
You most definitely should. We contemplated it for many trips and now I'm upset we waited to long. We certainly won't do it every trip, but I can't wait to do it again .That looks incredible! It's made me realize we need to go back because the menu changed I may be booking this again for our next trip.
I was shocked at how good it was. If they weren't so dang expensive I'd get one for myself. The iPhone 8's take incredible pictures, I can't wait to get one!
Sadly our bus issue wasn't due to the race, it was just bad resort service. I spared everyone the story but several times we had an MK bus a few minutes away and then it would change over to 20+ minutes. Turns out the buses would get full before they even got to our stop. We ended up walking to the stop at the island next to ours for the rest of the week. The extra walk ensured we at least got on a bus.I was hearing how bad the buses were during the marathon this weekend, I guess it gridlocks some of the roads. Uber is the best its so cheap to use to get around Disney.
Sounds like my kind of place !Bottomless mimosas were the best and dangerous. There's a place by my house I'd watch FSU football games and they had brunch and bottomless mimosas, but they come in wine glasses and are mostly champagne.
I know a lot of people don't care for CG dinner, but brunch is in a world of its own. Sounds like a good pre-wedding splurge to me!All the first plates look delicious. I'd probably have an entire plate of just deviled eggs for my first trip. I need to convince my fiance to go. He's a little sour on the place after our bad dinner, but every time I read about brunch here it makes me want to go really bad.
You've got it sister! Our meal ended up being 2+ hours and it was exactly like I enjoy eating.OMG this looks delicious. I feel like the best way to go is get the first reservation and just linger until they close eating all day long all the different options lol.
We have the same issue. It was great we could just take them with us. Though caution they do not travel in backpacks very wellThat's good to know you can pack up the desserts. I know when I go to these huge meal places I'm usually stuffed by the time dessert comes around and it would be perfect to save it for later or the next day.
Oh man, I forgot you were supposed to be there that day. I completely understand why you cancelled it, but I also completely understand why you now have regret. It was awesome. And you never know, my UK friends may have recognized you tooHOLY COW!! I knew reading that post was going to hurt, but I didn't know how much I am so regretting not keeping that ADR now, except that I don't think we would have had as good of an experience since I was sore, exhausted, and Oh, Yea…I would have been paying for it!
Congrats on even finishing! I'd still be down there trying to cross the finish lineAmazing I also had my personal best in just over 4 hours…it helps that this was actually my first half marathon
It was perfection! That's what I probably would have ordered…they had me a creme brulee
Good to hear! It will not disappointCalifornia Grill Brunch, I WILL be seeing you in October!!
He clearly takes everything very seriouslyI'm glad Jason was taking your pirate room seriously
FOP is great, but being the gluttonous foodie that I am I'd totally take brunch at CG. Definitely do it in the future. You will not be disappointed!I had a Brunch reservation but cancelled it because it ended up being the day we decided to do AK and it interfered with our FOP FP. I'm regretting it now! Even though I might have just ended up with plate of biscuits and that amazing french toast...
Wing it! Wing it! Wing it! (insert repetitive chanting here) I think you'd enjoy just taking meals as they come and coming where open ressies and your taste buds take you. Plus as adults, there are always bars to park atI haven't done much in the way of ADRs for our trip in 18 (!) days... Maybe I'll take a page from your book and try to wing it
It truly was. We were blown away. I really do love sharing and am still amazed that people actual want to hear what I have to say (or drink for that matter)Such a sweet gesture for your new friends to do that! As others have mentioned, your reviews are amazingly helpful with picking places to go. And entertaining too, and full of a wonderful, fun family
Hem and Haw no more and get yourself a reservation immediately. No chance you'll regret it!OK, you convinced me! I have been hemming and hawing about doing the cali brunch, but after this review its a must do for our next trip!
Well if you're gonna give up CG, I guess Jiko is a good replacementWow! What a nice treat! Pixie dust for sure! Brunch looked great! I had to cancel Cali grill dinner Friday night but I did finally eat at Jiko last night! Fab-U-lous!!!
Brunch and Bottomless, the only two B's we need in our livesOh my gosh, I need that brunch in my life! You had me at bottomless mimosas. What an awesome treat to have your meal paid for like that
It truly was magical. I still can't believe it happened. Amazing disers! What an AMAZING magical moment!!!!!! I have to say that Brunch at the Top was one of our absolute fav meals ever at WDW!!!!!! I would do it again in a heartbeat!!!! I was hoping to reserve it in March, but opted for tea at the Grand Floridian instead, since we haven't dined there in a few years...Plus, I think I booked Cali Grill for dinner...Yes, yes I did. I had to think for a minute...(sometimes all these trips blur together).
Jason stuck to more of the charcuterie options, with a bit of slushi thrown in there. Gotta love a buffet that offers top quality of both.
LOL the only thing to do.Casey said she was full at this point, but at $48 for her (and$80 for us) she was A. gonna get an entree and B. get one Jason and I wanted so we could eat it!
That's a girl after my heart, I've been eyeballing that for over a year now.I ended up ordering the Eggs Benedict with Two Soft-poached Eggs, Toasted English Muffin, Honey Ham, Classic Hollandaise, and Butter-poached Maine Lobster.
This was pixie dust like I'd never experienced and the highlight of our trip.
That's like our Epcot bus issue when we were at Wilderness Lodge and every other bus came but that one. They should have a button you push when waiting so they know how many people are waiting for a certain park.Sadly our bus issue wasn't due to the race, it was just bad resort service. I spared everyone the story but several times we had an MK bus a few minutes away and then it would change over to 20+ minutes. Turns out the buses would get full before they even got to our stop. We ended up walking to the stop at the island next to ours for the rest of the week. The extra walk ensured we at least got on a bus.
It's only on Sunday though right? That'll be the wedding day so it would be a little complicated going there the morning of.I know a lot of people don't care for CG dinner, but brunch is in a world of its own. Sounds like a good pre-wedding splurge to me!

I am pretty bummed about making that call.FOP is great, but being the gluttonous foodie that I am I'd totally take brunch at CG. Definitely do it in the future. You will not be disappointed!
They were happy campers
Sounds like the definition of insanity to me
I'm not sure if he is committed or if he should be committed. I'm thinking the latter, but only time will tell
We eventually made it back to the room and found out what Jason really meant when he said "nap"
Casey was even brave and tried all of the hot ones and enjoyed them so much she called the red sambal a "tasty dream"
Despite asking for this with no peanuts (I have an allergy) we got it with peanuts, but I was able to eat around them (they won't kill me just make me miserable for a while).
Thankfully my expensive entree did not disappoint. The hollandaise was rich and creamy and the lobster and poached eggs perfectly cooked. It paired nicely with the honey ham, which added a nice sweetness. My only sight complaint was it could have used more lobster as there wasn't enough to get some with every bite.
Now for the Dismeet I know you've been just dying to hear about. While we were eating our buffet items two British women approached out table and asked if I was Kari. As I don't know anyone from across the pond I was a bit confused, but they explained that they read my dining reports and had recognized us (later Casey wanted to know if we were famous). This was the first time someone had approached me so I was a bit surprised. We ended up chatting about their trip (and of course food) and they thanked me for the reviews, which had helped them plan some of their meals. I love writing these report and that was gratifying enough, but then (wait for it, wait for it) she offered to pay for mine and Jason's meals They explained they were leaving the next day and had several dining credits left and wanted to use them on us. To say I was flabbergasted was an understatement (to say I turned 50 shades of red is a more accurate depiction). Here we were at the meal we knew was our massive splurge of the trip and someone was offering to pay. We couldn't believe it.
Getting back to the meal, we had no room for dessert so it was packed up to go.
Hi, I have come out of hiding, it's us from across the pond!!!! It was lovely to meet you guys, and it was our pleasure to treat you. The California Grill is our favourite place to eat especially the brunch. Your reviews are always great and it is evident how much time you spend writing them, they always make me laugh, and are so helpful to navigate the many places to eat around Disney.
It did however make us laugh that you watched "The only way is Essex" I myself have NEVER watched it, my only regret is not letting you take my photo as every one will now think I have a spray tan and "Hollywood" veneers
Glad you enjoyed it Emma & Nicky
My absolute favorite was the cheddar biscuit. Now I love a good biscuit and this one was made with such delicate precision that you could see all the layers inside. I could have devoured ten.

You should definitely give it a try sometime. It was on my bucket list too and now I'm wondering what took so long. I couldn't imagine a more perfect brunch. The Cali Brunch is on my bucket list even before this review. But uhm now even more so.
Your eyeballs are firmly placed on the right thing!!!!That's a girl after my heart, I've been eyeballing that for over a year now.
I love that idea. You should tell Disney Or here's a crazy idea why don't they use those dang "magic" bands they make us all where and do some bus adjustments from there. That's like our Epcot bus issue when we were at Wilderness Lodge and every other bus came but that one. They should have a button you push when waiting so they know how many people are waiting for a certain park.
Yes only Sunday. Maybe a pre-tripIt's only on Sunday though right? That'll be the wedding day so it would be a little complicated going there the morning of.
That sounds like an awesome idea to me. Even better how about we come along too Days of eating, swimming, and drinking all day sounds perfect to me!I am pretty bummed about making that call.
I found myself wondering the other day if, after our APs expire, it would be weird if we took a trip with no tickets and ate at a lot of resort restaurants... maybe hit the waterparks as we like those and haven't been yet. Shift the ticket budget to the food budget and have relaxing trip with nice meals. I'm liking this idea more and more... DH is already hard to drag out of the park tho so I don't know what he would think haha.
Argh matey!!!!Argh! I had brunch booked & canceled it as we weren’t “feeling it” at the time. Need to try next time for sure. It all looks so delicious and what can possibly beat bottomless mimosas?? By the way, Jason looks far more put together than I would after waking so early three days in a row AND running. I’m not sure I’d be fit for a public outing! I love your palm tree necklace! How nice of your readers!! What a treat! You’re DIS boards dining famous for sure ... and it is well deserved.
OMG, I cannot believe someone besides us is aware of this show. Sadly I didn't even know what it was called, but now that i know the title I'll have to see if I can find it online to watch somewhere. Sounds like a great binge! And then I DIED when you mentioned Amy Childs. I was hooked on the first 5 seasons of The Only Way is Essex, and the show just wasn't the same after all the casting changes. My sister lived in Essex and she said it would be the equivalent of living at the Jersey Shore. There are definitely those types there, but most of the people are normal and not getting spray tanned and getting "Hollywood" veneers lol.
She does definitely skew older. She won't turn 7 until next month, but she is so tall people think she is older. Sounds like Alice must be cut from the same cloth.I have to say too that Casey looks older in this DR Something about turning 7 must be, because Alice looks like a lot older lately too!
So happy to have a fellow eating and drinking mama along for the rideThis eating and drinking trip is epic as always and I'm loving following along!!!
It was tremendous of them. Still can't believe it!FACTS!
How nice of them to pay for your meal! Good karma!!
Maybe we can start a movement for them to just call it "tasty dream." Be sure you read your Mom in on the planWow! She's a tough cookie! a "tasty dream"... This was my mom's favourite accompaniment. I'll tell her it's called "tasty dream" now.
Wow, I can't believe they messed up like that. Especially for someone with allergies as severe as yours. Hopefully we were just isolated incidents and not an indicated of them slacking in the allergy department.Oh man! That could have been bad if your allergy was more severe! I love the food at Sanaa, but they REALLY need to up their game on the allergy front as of late. I had always heard good things for allergies, and we had no issues in August, but when we went back on this recent trip they served me a plate with dairy in it. The server came back and said it slipped his mind. Even though he had a slip with my allergies listed on it, he verbally confirmed them all with me at the beginning of the meal, and then I ordered off the allergy menu and pointed directly to what I wanted. We normally tip fairly well, but Eddie (Eddy?) didn't do so well that night. (That also wasn't the only issue we had with Eddie though...I'll get to that if I ever get to this next TR.)
It was pretty dang amazing. Of course Casey let the celebrity go to her head and is still on cloud 9 about being "famous"Oh my gosh!! No way!! You're like a celebrity! How amazing of them to recognize you and chat with you, let alone to cover your meals!
Yep! No problems at all. They let you do that? Awesome!! With what you pay for brunch, you deserved not to leave without dessert!
I wish I had done the same (both eat half a dozen and pack them up). They were definitely the best biscuits I'd ever had.The only thing from the buffet that my son would eat was the biscuits! I swear he ate at least a half dozen. I almost wish I had packed some of those babies up to go since he loved them so much!
Hi Jeff! Good for you for doing the digital diet. I got some time away from work, but no dieting otherwiseHi Kari! I'm very behind but slowly catching up after I went on a digital diet over the holidays. I had a full 10 days away from work, so I took that time to recharge and spend with family. What a great bit of pixie dust you got on your brunch! The meal looked worth it anyway (especially those desserts - yes, I have a sweet tooth).
You are so wrong, yet so right, and this is why we get along so well.Don't worry, as fellow Kari dining report fans there is fan art to be had. Thanks for spreading the love to our intrepid leader! We know you look just this orange and smiley and spangly!

And you will not believe this, but you captured Emma and Nicky completely. Its like @Ejb123 posed for the picture directly because this could very well me them. Just need to amplify the spray tan a bit
