HUGE Mystery at Animal Kingdom Lodge, Jambo

. The Proposal
Background: I am a Disney-a-holic. I have been to Disney World over 55 times in my life. Every 4 years my parents and I plan a HUGE trip and invite our entire family — all 46 members — to Disney. They never know anything about what we are doing, they just show up, bags packed, and board the plane!
In June of 2014, we were going on one of those HUGE trips, and it was Adam’s first big Disney trip. We had been a few times on smaller trips since we started dating, but as everyone will tell you, a Luckow Disney trip is like nothing else! So I was excited for him to experience it.
Now, we typically give Disney some freedom to surprise us, so it didn’t shock me when on the 4th night, we were walking into Hollywood Studios and start hearing music from the Newsies. It is one of my all time favorite Disney movies and I, of course, started singing along. The whole night was Newsie themed and Disney had prepared a full musical production for us. About halfway through dinner, Jeremy Jordan, who played the original Jack Kelly on Broadway, came out on stage. I was so star struck that Adam still teases me to this day. Little did I know that Jeremy Jordan was NOT the biggest surprise of the night.
After a few songs, some Disney, some not, Jeremy asked me to join him on stage so he could sing a song just to me. He sang a song called Bonnie, from the Broadway show Bonnie and Clyde, in which he was starring. When the song, I began to make my way back to my seat, but Jeremy caught me and made me sit down again. He said that because we were technically celebrating my birthday, he had another special song to sing to me and that I shouldn’t be afraid or scared. Of course I was confused, but also kind of excited. I looked out into the audience where I thought Adam was sitting but I couldn’t really see anything because the stage lights were so bright, so I had no idea that he wasn’t still sitting there.
Jeremy began to sing Zac Brown Band’s Whatever It Is, which is Adam and my song. Of course I loved it and he sounded so great. I kept looking into the audience towards Adam (which ended up being my cousin Luke) so that we could share in the moment, so it completely caught me by surprise when Adam suddenly walked onto the stage.
At this point, alarm bells are going off in my head, and as he starts to spout words of love and affection, I start crying. Down on one knee he went, in front of my WHOLE family, who are this point were cheering and clapping! A ring appears, yes is uttered, kisses exchanged, hugs and fireworks! Yes, fireworks…it is Disney of course! Jeremy continued singing the rest of the song while Adam and I danced onstage, but to be honest, I don’t really remember any of that. Thank goodness we have a video to prove that it all really did happen!

So what the heck was up with blocking off the view of the first floor from the second floor? That seems like the sort of thing an easily recognizable high profile celebrity would need. Not a run of the mill billionaire nobody could even recognize.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing.

I'm sure that detail (as indicated by PP) is left to Disney's discretion.

Money do talk at Disney.
The rich get results.
I'm envious, not outraged.

If I had an extra 6 million laying around I'd do a split stay for my boyfriend and me at the Cinderella Dream Suite and the best room at each of the deluxes. For however long 6 million would last for a party of 2.

Sure wish someone could have planted a camera on one of them, just to see what people who are about 5 thousand levels above me, do at disney. Do you think someone mentions "I wish I could go on test track" and suddenly TT has "mechanical issues" for the next ten mins, so the family can go on?

In all my dreams of "if I had money", I never thought of having banners hung for me, having suits cleaning up, or a choir just for me. I'd probably book a couple of grand villas for two or three weeks, book a half dozen tours, have the vip tour people for a week, a bunch of minnie van rides, and the deluxe dining plan, Am I approaching 6 million yet?

HOLY COW....now that's a proposal! I wouldn't mind being serenaded by Newsies and Jeremy Jordan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Housekeeping just told me that if you have the money for Disney, the sky is the limit. They will do ANYTHING that you want, if you have the money to pay for it. You can block off an entire restaurant, customize a hallway, have each Individual room filled with themed African art, have a choir, even pay to staff security 24 hours a day positioned at the ends of the floor to block the public from "their" floor. Hey, if I won the lottery, I would do Disney with a bang too!

Before having kids and being a sahm I worked in a very high end travel and concierge agency in NYC. Our clients were all millionaires even billionaires. Well we took a trip to Disney as a company so they could show us what they can do with VIP clients. Some of the things we did...

Went to ak after it was closed. Saw the lion king show by ourselves. One area was set up with tables for dinner while we watched the show.

In HS the soldiers from toy story took us behind the scenes and gave us a workout. The. We went into a warehouse of the toys of toy story for brunch and desserts. Then an accapella grou came out and sang.

They really can do anything.

When my dd was working Jedi Training Academy last year, she had a shift that started several hours prior to park opening. Seems a family had booked a private birthday party for their son...I think he was about 8. She said it was incredible to see. It's amazing how people choose to spend their money. But, I guess Disney just loves it...huge profit for them!

:worship::worship::worship:Thought the Board might find this funny...my family has been collecting beads all week at AKL by participating in the daily scheduled activities that involve culture of Africa. Last night we did the African drum lesson. It was fifteen minutes long. A party of four from the "millionaire family" showed up just as we were saying goodbye to the instructors. The "family" had a mom and her three kids (we recognized them from the grand entrance in the lobby earlier). The "family" sat down and started banging the drums for the class, and the sweet instructor from Botswana said, "I am sorry, you arrived too late, and the lesson is over." The family seemed confused and remained seated. The instructor said again, "if you want to participate in my class, you can come back tomorrow, guys, sorry." The family seemed very surprised that she would not accommodate them and left. Would it have been different if the instructor knew that she turned down THE "family" ? Should the instructor have bent the rules and started a new class? so money can not buy you EVERYTHING in Disney....

I'm sure if the instructor had known who they were she would have let them stay ;) Or I should say she would have been told to let them stay

Oh, you mean that EX drum instructor?

Even a large family wouldn’t be spending $6 million at Disney even with top of the line everything. So what am I missing?

I imagine it's pretty easy with 48 people in your group. Plus all of the following definitely ain't cheap:

Two personal Magical Express Buses
Renting out an entire floor at AKL
Having full run of a park (each park, MK twice) after it closes and having it fully functional for just your party for 4-5 hours
Closing down a signature restaurant early and having a special menu for 48 prepared personally by the head chef (3 times)
Having a full choir serenade your group upon arrival
5 dedicated Tour Guides for your group from 8AM-2AM

As you can imagine not only does WDW charge extra for this, they REALLY charge extra.
