enough already............

The merchandise, signage, character experiences, etc. have saturated the parks. It doesn't have to just be attractions.
I do think Star Wars has taken over much of DHS. There is Star Tours which has been around a long time. Next to that is the Jedi Training thing. Next to that, they did a Star Wars overlay to the menu at Backlot Express. On the other side of the park, they replaced the Animation attraction with Launch Bay including that gift shop becoming Star Wars. Then there's the projection/fireworks show (which is absolutely incredible but Star Wars none the less). And there's the stormtroopers marching down the street periodically. And this is all aside from Galaxy's Edge which won't open for 2 more years.

So I can understand people who feel that Star Wars has too large a presence in the park.

I couldn't understand most of the ramblings from the OP but I find it fascinating that people are always 100% okay with Pixar and consider it Disney but forget the same similarity that Pixar was its own company and the only reason Disney bought Pixar was because they were their only real direct competitor in the animation department and was actually beating them in computer animation. That only happened 11 years ago now so not that long ago in the grand scheme of Disney but people will fight that Pixar is Disney when Toy Story (1&2), Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, the Incredibles, A Bug's Life, Cars (it was released after sale but made pre-sale) all are from Pixar before Disney owned it. I would say even Ratatouille was probably mostly a Pixar movie on its own based on normal computer animation times since it was released barely a year after the sale date.

Edit to add I know Disney distributed them but that doesn't mean Pixar was Disney before they were officially bought.
sorry you felt the need to take a shot at me. i did however understand most of what you said.

I don't understand it when it's one park. The other three have no star wars.

look at it this way. while they were building Pandora you did not run the risk of being stomped on by Neytiri or Jake Sully around every corner.

I'm speaking as someone who didn't grow up going to Disney. We (me(48), DH(54), DS(16)) might just be the target demographic new customer that Disney is going after. We are a SW loving family. Is there enough SW there now to pull us over from US, no. DS and I are too much of HP geeks to give up time in the Wizarding World for what's at DHS as it is now. However, a SW themed hotel AND a SW land.....okay, Disney, take my money now. Now, once they've got us for what's at DHS for SW, we're the on-site "stay in the bubble" type of family. Marketing genius, I'd say.

With that being said, the same as long time Uni fans were disjointed when the HP changes came, I can certainly understand the heartburn that long time Disney fans feel with all the SW changes. Just please, don't put ears on Chewy.

if i had it to write over again i would have said "fanboy heaven"

To be clear... we are members of a niche fan site/ message board for a YouTube show that draws about 20-30k viewers a week worldwide. This podcast/ YouTube show/ site IS fanboy heaven.

You have an almost quasi decent point, but your original post sounded too much like:
"I'm a massive fan boy of things A, B & C. Disney are introducing too much of things D, E & F, and *I* don't like it, so they need to stop!!"
For anyone to take it seriously.

Will Disney continue the marvel expansion? Probably, where it makes sense to do so- which luckily for you, isn't in very many places. Also, the speed they do these things means it'll be a decade before they add to the newly announced stuff, so there's plenty of time for general interest in Marvel to fall off a bit.

As for Star Wars- yes, WE do not associate it with disney. But there's a whole world of teenagers out there who will only ever know Star Wars as a disney owned thing, and they'll be frequenting the parks as affluent adults in years to come- their needs must be addressed in order for WDW to remain successful.

Evolve or die in afraid...

Sorry, but that was somewhat confusing and hard to understand. I get your point, but it's really buried in what might be "clever" bi^9ching?
There's plenty of space. There's room for all of it. Disney is expanding it's business. It's how they will continue to make lots of money.
Cueing "Walt is turning over in his grave" post in 3,2,1........

Our family just returned from wdw last week and I did not feel a large star wars presence at any park besides Hollywood Studios. Actually, I think HS is the only park that I felt any Star Wars presence at all. Star Wars is one of the most popular movie franchises in history so Im not surprised that it has such a big presence in HS. I'm personally more surprised that Disney didn't devote an entire new park to the franchise instead of just a single land.

the reality is ........ i have seen every star wars movie multiple times and never miss a marvel offering. it was not about like or dislike, it was about loss of focus or should i say the shifting of same. forever it was bouncy bouncy giddy up. now its is guns blazing at light speed.

Bingo. My 16yr old is a perfect example. While he's grown up watching the franchise with us and can intelligently converse on all things George Lucas, to him the SW franchise is a part of Disney. If we've raised him right, his children will go to Disney to experience SW....and the legacy continues.

As a previous poster commented, do you have a similar problem with Pixar? That is basically the same thing as the Star Wars acquisition.

if i had it to write over again i would have said "fanboy heaven" of course i guess i have just offended another perceived "group"........ either way i was not criticizing anyone, just mentioning those who would most likely be pleased.....also it may be worth noting that i am a huge geek, freak, fanboy, nerd, whatever. we recently returned from our 25 trip to WDW.....as far as overrun, it can be digital as well as physical.

Sorry, OP, but this has absolutely no relevance to your post, BUT................. I absolutely love the picture of your bichon frese:)
We had one for 16 years but had to put him to sleep due to many health problems. Yours is so cute:)

I think it takes a lot of people to come up with good content and that means outsourcing. In my opinion, nothing is too sacred to be irreplaceable (including my beloved Splash Mountain). If Disney can bring in new stories, new adventures and new entertainment they should do so--even if it's not their original idea. I imagine Disney to be a vehicle that offers entertainment and storytelling to guests, so it's A-okay if they legally purchase other ideas to share these stories with families that might not be able to experience it otherwise. I am not a Star Wars fan by any means, but I think it's cool that Disney can bring it to life. Ask yourself; Would it be efficient for George Lucas/creators of Star Wars to create their own theme park and center their own franchise with their new empire? No! Bad for business....better to sell the ideas to a "vehicle" as reputable as Disney to bring it to life. If you don't care for these new lands, that is A-okay too! I just think you should give them a chance before writing them off. Also, Disney revealed a new Mickey Mouse ride, so they aren't completely abandoning their original roots.

Totally agree, and I said exactly the same thing early on in this thread, couldn't help but comment on the cuteness factor. :)

The Pixar question is a very valid one, and I thought about that before initially responding. I don't think you can compare that with Star Wars, though. From the very beginning, Pixar and Disney worked together. Toy Story came out in 1995. It was distributed and marketed by Disney. Toy Story souvenirs were sold at the Disney Stores and in the parks from the start. The Buzz Lightyear ride at WDW opened in 1998. Even though Pixar was an independent company for those first few features, there was a very close tie in with Disney from day one.

So if not Pixar then how do people feel about Indiana Jones or Star Tours. IJ came to the parks in the mid 90s. Add to that there were the power rangers and ninja turtles as well. People don't think of Disney when they think of those two but ask any 30-40 year old Disney fan who went as a kid and they probably have fond memories of meeting those at DHS as a kid.
