Update on Disney resort booking through Chase UR portal.
I booked Poly for March 2018 last Sunday. As many know, the confirmation number Chase provides does not work on Disney's website. Pages back on this thread someone listed a phone number for Disney Wholesale 407-939-1947.
I called tonight, went through the automated system briefly & was connected right away. The agent took my name, date of reservation & resort name, immediately found the reservation and asked if I had a pencil ready for the number! I also booked on Chase for 2 adults since it was $40 to add another person. When I talked to the agent, I asked if she could add my son. She did but warned if I changed the reservation or called Chase about it, it would revert to the original booking Chase made.
I immediately logged in to My Disney Experience, put in the number she gave me, no problem. The reservation was there for 2 adults, 1 child. I only had to assign DSs & my names (res in DH name) for everything to be perfect. Easy Peasy.
Hope this helps those looking to make Disney res on UR portal

ETA: I remember reading that you need to check the address your MB ship to, it is the third party address. Momentarily freaked out when it said mine would ship to TX (I'm in IL) until I remembered this.

Check your AMEX offers. I have 10% of on mobile phone service good until 11/18. Limit of $30. Will be nice after the Disney Visa promotion ends. According to Doctor of Credit, some may also get a cable offer. I did not.

Thanks! Just checked and I got the cable offer.

good to know for future! I just called Chase travel on my 2nd dolphin stay, this one took longer and got transferred, they gave me a number that worked fine in MDE, but I like your plan better when you need to adjust the number in the room per disney guidelines...

Thanks, I just added it to one of DH's cards. I'll have to decide if I want to keep using the CIP for the UR or switch off to an Amex for the $30.

Thank you, I have both!

I would call Southwest directly and see if there is anyway to make that change so you don't lose the Early Bird fee that you paid. I always call to make the changes with the CP so that the EB is not impacted.

I think that is what I will do. Still waiting for the points to post. All the flights were booked 1 way and with points so will get those points back. Would just be nice not to lose the EB that I already paid for.

Just trying to make sure I understand the CSP correctly. If I transfer earned points from my CF to a CSP, they are worth more to redeem for flights? Do you book flights through UR, or transfer the points from UR to your airline and then book directly through them? Or does that vary depending on the airline/flight?

it depends on what is worth it either via airline or through UR portal. but yes, they are worth more if you go from CF to CSP.
one example is @wendow hotel booking. its 40,000 points per night, but cash would we $225 per night. She could book through the portal for like 60k for 4 nights. transfer to partner = 160,000 pts. UR booking = 60,000 pts. HUGE difference.

now transfers work to partners could be better in some cases like Hyatt. Hyatt Regency in tokyo is $230 a night. if you redeem via portal @ 1.5 is 15,332 UR points. but sending your points to Hyatt, you can redeem a night at 12,000 points. making the transfer to hyatt worth it.

Gosh, this seems complicated. I am new to the Chase game, as I just got the CSP this week. I've always just used cash back cards and dumped that money in a savings account to use on travel, but decided to give this a whirl. The sign-on bonuses alone make it worthwhile, but it does seem like there is quite a bit of due diligence for each transaction. And there are so many travel partners, which is a good thing, but just opens more possibilities to research.

Are there any tips for a newbie to make this be a little less overwhelming? Thanks in advance.

If it was not complicated too many people would do it and we wouldn't have these opportunities :) It does take time and research, learning the ins and outs are not easy. To me it's ultimately worth it, but you'll have to evaluate that yourself when you're done.

Yep, if you want the best bang for your buck you have to research EACH transaction to compare transferring points to the Chase travel partner vs booking through UR. Also, do you fly Southwest? Top tip: Southwest is bookable via UR but you have to call Chase travel.

That's good to know. I pretty much only fly SW, so will keep that in mind. Thanks for the tip.

you get used to it once you learn the trade. the idea is to redeem using points if its over the cash value. basically 1pts = $.01 if you redeem cash. When you room rate with points and its over $.01, its generally a good use of points. ie, a $500 room for 30,000 pts = 500/30,000 =$.0166. WORTH IT... ie $500 room for 60,000 pts = 500/60000 = $.0083 NOT WORTH IT.
why u may ask? well, i can usually redeem @ $.01 per point so basically its better to pay for the $500 room if its 60,000 points and then redeeming 50,000 pts to cash or statement credit.

hopefully that makes sense to you!

edit: i had it backwards.

Oh they totally will and they can screw you over royally in doing so. (Personally, I don't care how they redistribute my CLs and if they say to call in a letter I'll do it myself then.) My story: my mom applied for the CSR. Was stuck at 30 days for awhile, just waited it out. A couple weeks later got approved. Also got a letter stating they dropped her Ink CL (which her legit company has had for years) from 26K to 6K (no other business cards) and 1 personal Chase card -of which she had plenty of high CL personal Chase cards they could have pulled from but they used Ink and her lowest CL personal card instead- from 10K to 5K and they approved her CSR with a 25K CL. Mom has called & SMd on multiple occasions to get at least some of the CL returned to the Ink card but each time Chase says "we don't move credit between personal and business" she says "but you did! just look". "sorry, we don't move credit between personal and business". If we had known about rebalancing CLs earlier this year I would have advised her to call so she could have re-arranged her own CLs but Chase royally screwed her by doing it without her consent. (If only she'd kept that dang letter!)

Currently she's looking at picking up an Ink Preferred (she doesn't have that one), bagging the bonus and then transferring CL from that card to the old one in a year (the old one still has good earnings categories for her). Maybe they can transfer CLs between cards of the same business at least?!

I just saw another DP on Reddit of Chase moving credit lines around without speaking to the customer:
"I opened a Hyatt card last month to get the two free nights. It went pending for a few nights as Chase has already maxed out their credit to me at about $60k. Moved $5k to open the card.
Recently I saw a targeted offer for 100k IHG. It's been 24 months since getting the bonus so what the hell, signed up and churned the card. It went pending as expected, but automatically moved $16k from my largest line and IHG showed up in my Chase accounts online."

Southwest is a partner with Chase so you can move your UR points directly over to SW in 1,000pt increments. I prefer this because if I need to cancel the flight then I get the points back in my Rapid Rewards account. I'm not sure if you can get a refund if you cancel the flight if you book it through the Chase UR travel portal. You'd have to ask about that.

Yes CSP points are worth 1.25 and CSR are worth 1.5. Both can be used to purchase travel at that value per points. When you transfer Freedom points to CSP they are worth more. Freedom points cannot be used to transfer to airline or hotel partners. You have to transfer them to the CSP first and then they can be transferred to an airline or hotel partner.

Each flight or hotel booking may be different. In some cases you are better off transferring to the airline if there is award availability and in some you are better off paying with UR points through the travel portal. A few years ago I booked a flight from Paris to Miami in first class. United has award availability for 50,000 miles and $55. The cost of the flight has I paid cash or with points was well over $7,000 and would have required several hundred thousand UR points to pay for it through the travel portal.

Yes, that makes sense. But a question is with the CSP you can redeem at 1.25 out of the UR, right? How does that play into it? Is it just the cash price divided by 1.25 is the break-even point? In your example of a $500 room, I could use 40,000 points out of UR to pay for the room or could transfer my points to the partner if the points are less than 40,000. Am I off track in my thinking?

If anyone has a legit business and is after Chase Ink Preferred I can confirm the 100,000 point offer for signing up with a business relationship manager in branch is still live. Doc has the deal live until mid-August I think. (Somewhere I saw that most people aren't eligible as BRMs are supposed to focus on businesses with 500,000+ in revenue but some of us have had luck applying through them with smaller companies anyway.) Personally I REALLY wouldn't try this route if your company is not an actual company but if it is and you have Chase branches nearby it might be worth making some calls to see if you can get an appointment with the Business Relationship Manager (not all branches have them) to put in the application with them before mid-August.
