Every time I book an ADR someone posts a negative thread!

I was anxious to try some new restaurants this trip, but I get discouraged reading negative reviews. I am at least hoping for some decent meals with the prices were are paying!

Take all reviews with a grain of salt! Some restaurants others hate we've loved and vice versa. Sometimes we even rebook a restaurant we've disliked just to give it another chance. You read lots of negative reviews for CRT and Chef Mickeys yet they are consistently two of the toughest ADRS to get. If you try a new place and it isn't great but made you're day a little better logistically (ex. it's in the right park or it's at the right time), then it was worth it. Now you've got new knowledge and it will help you next time.

And somebody else has not liked a resort I loved or hated one of my favorite attractions or didn't enjoy a Disney trip at all. That's just the way it goes. Doesn't worry me a bit.

Ehhh I try not to pay attention to that. We've tried restaurants that people posted negative reviews about & they ended up being some of our faves. Everyone has different tastes so we like to give it a try for ourselves

Try what you want to try.

I've honestly not had a bad meal at Disney. There, I said it. Every single meal was either good or excellent.
Me, too. Honestly. There are some places we've elected not to return to, but that's just because we love so many others so much more.

I tend to look at overall trends when deciding to eat.

E.g. Tony's was super negative but since we went on the dxddp once, we tried it. Waste of a credit.

The Wave is often negative, but we LOVED it for breakfast and it's now a must do.

Skipper canteen is usually somewhat positive, but we had such a bad experience (slow service, toddler meltdown, meh food) that we won't be back.

I like trying different restaurants and have to say some fan favorites I did not care for and some that people generally dislike (thinking of Chef Mickey's) was actually really good and we are doing again next trip. See what menu looks good to you and go from there.

I think people generally just post a negative/complaint much more quickly than a positive.

Try what you want....
Ever see a movie that people loved only to be so disappointed?
LA la land, lol
It's just an opinion....after all
Enjoy ur visit

Echoing the others: book what you want. What I try to do is read WHY they disliked a certain meal and see if that might be applicable to me. I also try to assess whether it is a one-off situation or not.

In the end, remember that not everyone will love or hate the same things. I love Le Cellier. A ton of people find it too salty. If you let every bad experience with something stop you from trying it, you'll never try anything!

First, everyone is right, you will find both negative and positive reviews for almost every restaurant. For every person that the restaurant is their absolute favorite, it is some else's least favorite. If you think you will enjoy a restaurant, you probably will. Go and have fun and stop looking for reviews.

If you must read them, try to use negative reviews as a learning experience.

1. Ask yourself what is it that made this meal so bad and would those same things bother me?

Many times I see people complaining about things that wouldn't bother me at all.

For instance, some people like that buffets usually serve both breakfast and lunch items as they switch over between the two meals. Others hate this. If you don't mind the combination, your late breakfast won't be ruined by the lack of breakfast foods and inclusion of lunch items. If you had your heart set on specific breakfast foods that are now missing from the buffet selection, it might ruin the meal for you.

Another example, are the restaurants that joke around with you, some can find the servers rude or become embarrassed by the antics, while others love that type of atmosphere and aren't offended or embarrassed at all.

2. Is there a pattern to the bad reviews?

If one lone person reports an issue, it was probably a fluke. Any restaurant, server, cook, etc can have a bad day. The chances of you encountering the same issue are small. If 50 people all report the exact same issue, there's a good chance you may as well. In that case, see point one. Will this issue really bother you?

3. Be realistic and realize people like to complain even when the issue is their own fault.

For instance, if everyone generally agrees that the food at the sci-fi drive in is mediocre, but the atmosphere is why you go. Don't go expecting a gourmet meal. It's like going to McDonalds and then complaining because they served you fast food. In addition, people will go to a burger restaurant and complain they don't serve seafood or steaks. People will complain there are children at a Disney restaurant. People will complain they can't get a table at a restaurant they didn't make an ADR for, or they will show up outside their window and be mad their table was given away. Be realistic about what you are getting, and you will be happier. Any time you put something up on a pedestal, you are just setting yourself up for it to fall off.

As much as I LOVE ❤️ the Dis, I think this is the biggest downfall to using it to plan a trip. There are sooo many differing options on everything, it's easy to talk yourself out of almost anything! Eat where you want to, and if you hate it, oh well!

It is pretty subjective so you'll always find differing opinions. They catch your eye since that restaurant is on your mind. I notice the same things when I book a reservation at a new resort. There are a couple of places I avoid ADRs at because I have read many many negative reviews over the years. But in general, I enjoy just about every place that we have eaten with a reservation- for one reason or another. There are a couple of places where the "experience" balances out the food. But I haven't had a table service meal that made me wish I had chosen differently.

Ignore the negative reviews. I've seen them for almost every restaurant & resort I really like.

I agree with prior postings...stop reading the reviews! We dislike Tusker House (which everyone seems to love), but we love The Wave, Via Napolia and 'Ohana. DH still talks about his meal at Portobello at DS, and we had by far our best server ever, but it consistently gets bad reviews. Taste is so subjective, it's impossible to please every person, every time. Go, enjoy and make the ADRs that seem like how you and your family would like to eat!
