CBR $75 Gift Card deal ending

I talked to someone this morning and she could not guarantee that if i booked a packaged today to get the gift card and then modified to get FD that I would still be able to get the GC.
People call this modifying a reservation, but it really is not. When you want to "apply" a discount to your reservation you actually are making a new reservation. If FD is offered and CBR is included, you will probably need to decide which discount is best for your family. My guess is that POR will be very limited, as will be POFQ for FD promos, because so many folks were moved after the construction was announced. If I had to guess, I would guess that you will not be allowed both.

I wouldn't expect you to be able to keep the gift card since you are canceling one reservation and booking another.

I know. I was just asking to see if by any chance i would get a different answer. I posted it here because others have said that you could just modify and could get both.

Do you work for Disney? I'm not discrediting your credibility. I'm just wondering where your info came from. The reservation number remains the same so just curious why it would be considered a new reservation.

I thought this was only the case when going from room only to package (or vice versa)

No, I don't believe this is the case any longer. I have called when a discount was released and needed to rebook. I kept my confirmation number, but I believe it was a new reservation. I could only book what was available. I am not positive, but I doubt that FD can be applied to these reservations that are already discounted or have received compensation at CBR>

I do not and I am not positive so take it for what it is worth. I would not bet that these reservations will be modified to add FD to them, but I would not mind being wrong. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Pretty sure that is not possible.
If they cancel the existing reservation and book a new one it would have a new number.
The fact that your confirmation number remained the same indicates they modified an existing reservation. Having to book what was available doesn't automatically mean it was a new reservation. I've gone in and modified a reservation online and still had to pick from what was available. It wasn't a new reservation though, it was a modified reservation
Now, that by no means should indicate that those that do add Free Dining to their package will keep their gift card, I have no idea about that.
But I do think there is a chance they can keep it, since it's not a discount on the room, it's a gift card added after the fact.
Where I think the area is much more grey would be those who book room only and then want a package later. That does require them to cancel the room only and book a package and (at least in the past) has meant a new confirmation number.
With the recent changes they made to confirmation numbers I'm not even sure that is the case any more.

I agree with you. I'm willing to bet Disney stopped the gift cards now in advance of new discounts specifically so people won't be able to get both.

Just a FYI this is over in the CBR resort thread. Some travel agents said this was on the page for Disney Reservations

-Please note Guests who booked reservations at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort prior to March 19, 2017, for arrival May 1, 2017-June 30, 2018, will receive a $75 Disney Gift Card, per night/per room. The gift card will be delivered upon check-in and may be used at participating Walt Disney World Resort Food & Beverage and Merchandise locations. This offer will not be available for reservations booked March 20, 2017 or after.

So the March 19th date seems to be the official last date to get the $75 GC.

Im still crossing my fingers that I can simply modify and get both! We are a family of 5 and when it comes to mod's we have to pick from POR or CBR. I booked CBR on 3/1 after I heard about the GC offer. Just an FYI to those who have booked CBR and are worried about their gift card....I didn't receive an email from Disney regarding the GC until 3/7 which was 7 days after booking. It stated that I was going to get the gift card upon check in. So maybe just wait a few days and you should receive an email!

Thanks for that note. I have not received anything regarding the gift card. Just the standard confirmation. Will keep an eye out next week for a follow-up email.

You're welcome! I was just over in the Official CBR thread and a few others stated they didn't receive the email confirming the gift card until about a week after booking!

I am a little confused. Room booked at CBR with $75 GC offer. If we get a room discount in the mail this summer, can that be used on top of the GC offer, or not?

Thx

And will feel even worse for them when another Guest asks them where they are going to spend their GC and they say "What GC?!"!lol:)

I think it should have been everybody gets A GC or nobody gets a GC-bad PR for The Mouse.
Who would ask this?! Would you ask someone, "What are you spending your cash on?" Let me tell you, if someone was rude enough to ask me what I was spending my money on, regardless of that form of money, or where it came from, they'd get a very rude response from me. Wow.

No one here can tell you for sure. Until people start calling to apply other available discounts after May 1st & reporting back, everything here is just speculation. If you happen to get a discount offer, you'll have to ask CRO if changing to that discount will affect your gift card. And hope their information is correct.

As of today, CBR is not planning on being included in any discounts for the rest of 2017. Currently they are well over their targeted occupancy rate. If a resort is near or over the target occupancy rate they are not included in discounts. That's why POFQ and Little Mermaid rooms are usually excluded, they always hit their number without it.

I've got a question about this gift card. We just booked one day at CBR, moving from the WL, and will check out the next morning. Do we have to use that gift card before we leave WDW? We probably won't check in until late afternoon/early evening, and then leave on ME the next morning. I'd love to think I can at least save it for the next time!

Is this an official announcement? Or is this some kind of insider information?
