Boo to the Halloween on the Highs Seas Crew

We headed off to the Pepper Market for breakfast. We had all been talking about Mickey waffles and that is what we all were going to get!

We took a look around till we found the station that had them.

csr122 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I told Mom to get the kids meal and Claire and I were both getting that too. It’s more than enough food for breakfast and a pretty good deal in price, plus you get a drink with it too.

csr147 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Mom is always starving and then she eats like a bird and she ended up throwing most of hers away. Honestly she should have shared with me. I would have been fine with 1 waffle and 1 sausage…and then that leaves more room to snack later…right?

Since we were not hitting the parks this trip, I wanted to try out new things and today we decided on Winter Summerland for putt putt golf with our free vouchers.

We headed to the bus stop and took the bus over to Blizzard Beach. Winter Summerland is right there and just off to the side. Claire kept asking me questions about it and I had to keep telling her that I had only seen it once when I did a tour of Blizzard Beach and it was only basically a glance.

Blizzard Beach was closed for maintenance so the bus was not full. In fact, only one other couple was on the bus with us. When we got off though, they headed towards Blizzard Beach and disappeared and I never saw them again. I am not sure where they actually went.

I made Mom and Claire stop for a few pictures.

We let Claire pick which course we should play and she picked Winter. We got our stuff and headed out to play.

This past summer we went with my Mom and sister Gail and her girls to my sister Amanda’s house for a long weekend. We played putt putt twice while visiting and all the girls had such a blast. I think it might have been a first for all of them, or at least the first time they remembered doing it.

relax19 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I loved the theming here. They did such a nice job.

relax20 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I’m not very good at putt putt, so I don’t even pretend to be, but we had a lot of fun…and at one point in time we each got at least 1 hole in one. When I got mine, I was talking on the phone with Skip and just basically putted without looking. LOL.

The last spot you basically just shoot your ball up a ramp and it eats it. But we aren’t that talented and had to try more than once. If you know what it looks like you would laugh at us. I didn’t get a picture of it, but it is right behind this Christmas tree.

I am enjoying all of your pictures. Winter Summerland is so nicely themed and it has been on my to do list for so long. I am definitely
going to make time to go next trip.

Fun update, breakfast looked good, gotta love Mickey Waffles!

We have played mini golf at WDW a few times and that is where we have gone all 3 times. We did winter twice and Summer once. They are fun courses.

It was such a fun different thing to do. I rarely make time for other things when I have park tickets so it was so nice to finally try other things.

Something about Mickey waffles are just so good. At home I am not even much of a waffle fan. It is one of Claire's favorite foods.

We have played mini golf at WDW a few times and that is where we have gone all 3 times. We did winter twice and Summer once. They are fun courses.

It was fun. I am glad we took the time to play. I had so many things I wanted to do but we didn't get to all of them, but I was happy with what we did do.

The golf courses look very well-themed. Is there any water on either course?

I don't remember seeing water.

Once we finished up, I told Mom and Claire I was going to run over quickly to the Summer side and take some pictures.

bliz2 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Did I mention that my Mom isn’t patient? LOL. She was grumbling about how long it was taking and it was, but we don’t know if we just missed a bus or not. I told her after a while we could just get on the next bus that came and then transfer and head to Disney Springs, but the next bus that came was for Coronado!

Once it finally did come we headed back

relax6 by Jenseib, on Flickr

and made a quick stop in our room to repack our bags and do whatever it was we had to do. I guess I took a few pictures too.

csr124 by Jenseib, on Flickr

csr125 by Jenseib, on Flickr

The bed was stripped and bare. I didn’t get on it, but it was clear they either had changed the mattress or were getting ready for a new mattress to arrive. Yay!

We then we headed off to Disney Springs to do another new thing!

Off to Disney Springs! We were dropped off and the bus driver reminded us that this is not where we would be picked up and gave us the number….yeah yeah I know…it’s WAY over there!

relax14 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Claire loves to bowl and when I told her they had a new bowling alley she was excited and wanted to do this on one of our down days.

springs22 by Jenseib, on Flickr

springs23 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We headed in and they asked if we wanted to eat or bowl and we said BOTH! So they set us up with a lane and explained out it worked and got us each a pair of shoes. Bowling is by the hour so we could bowl as many games as we could in that hours time. It wasn’t cheap, but not outrageous either. I do remember thinking the shoes were kind of pricey. Mom said she would pay. I didn’t argue. There was no need for her to pay, but she loves to do this and so far I had paid for the hotel and got the free golf, so she probably felt like this was her contribution.

We settled up at our lane and looked over the menu and also found our balls then got started.

springs37 by Jenseib, on Flickr

springs24 by Jenseib, on Flickr

The place is really big but I was surprised it didn’t have a lot of lanes. It wasn’t really that busy for the bowling part though, so that was nice.

The balls were so colorful and cute.

springs26 by Jenseib, on Flickr

springs38 by Jenseib, on Flickr

And it had a little bit of a Disney theme on the walls.

springs28 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We made our orders, burgers for Mom and I and pizza for Claire….again if I had been thinking right, I should have share with both of them. Mom only made a dent in her burger and Claire couldn’t eat all the pizza. I could have eaten half of Moms burger and had a slice or 2 of pizza and been fine.

relax15 by Jenseib, on Flickr

First game is over and I AM THE WINNER!!!!!!

springs29 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Claire was mad because she was last.

The food came so we ate and bowled some more.

springs30 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I took nice and blurry pics as you can see.

springs31 by Jenseib, on Flickr

And a strike for Claire!!!!!

relax7 by Jenseib, on Flickr

springs39 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Claire whipped our butts this game! I guess she was mad about losing the last one.

springs40 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We played one more game but time ran out before we completely finished, though we were close to the end. I was winning that game, but Claire was the average winner of all 3 and she didn’t let us forget that! Hahahaha

springs41 by Jenseib, on Flickr

After that we kind of wandered around and I took a few pictures.

springs32 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We went inside the candy store to check it out but didn’t buy anything, probably because we were still so full from lunch.

springs34 by Jenseib, on Flickr

springs35 by Jenseib, on Flickr

After shopping around we headed back to the bus stop.

springs36 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We had a little wait, and Mom and Claire went off and sat down while I waited in the line, which consisted of just me.

The bus came and we headed back to CSR again. I was so tired and so was Mom, but Claire was jumping for a swim. I really just wanted to take a nap, but being the good mom I took Claire to the pool. My Mom did take a nap though!

My bed was now made up, so the new mattress had arrived and I was happy about that.

Claire and I headed to the pool. I found a lounger and sat (was too tired to swim) and she jumped in.

csr149 by Jenseib, on Flickr

relax16 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I did a live video from my chair again and Claire had headed off to the slide. I kept watching from where I was but never saw her come down. Then all of a sudden she was in front of me smiling. I had totally missed her sliding and swimming back to me.

Sadly, since she was alone in the pool, it was a bit boring and not as exciting as she had hoped. Sometimes she makes pool friends, but she didn’t today.

She decided to check out the hot tub after a while, which was right behind where I was sitting.

relax17 by Jenseib, on Flickr

In the background here you can see the new wall they were building.

csr126 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Still hanging at the hot tub. See the couple in the corner?

relax18 by Jenseib, on Flickr

They were pretty much on top of each other the whole time and I think that made Claire uncomfortable so she eventually got out.

I always love these birds of paradise as I never see anything like them at home.

First off, your mom is a saint for dealing with your dad's insecurities all these years. Did she worry too much about him while she was gone? I'm just glad she stuck to her guns and didn't let him change up the plans last minute.

I'm loving the tour of CBR. We stayed there a couple nights maybe in 2009? All I remember is how BIG the place was!

I hope the Disney police never caught up with your great mug heist!

I'm not thrilled with the new Disney Springs. I know a lot of people are, but high end shopping just isn't my thing. I'm glad to hear you say the Marketplace hasn't changed much. You know, other than having the bus stop farther away now.

Man, I'm feeling for you with Claire saying she would have preferred the parks but nobody asked her. Oy. Poor kid, being forced onto a Disney cruise and all. :p I'm with you on the hormones as scapegoat thing though. If you had planned a parks trip, she probably would have asked why you weren't doing a cruise.

Thanks for the photos of Winter Summerland. Can you believe I have never seen what it looks like? That's so dang cute I'm going to have to find a way to get there now! LOVE that snack stand!

Splitsville looks better than I expected too. I never would have considered that on a trip, but after seeing that, I could maybe be talked into it. I think I heard they're putting one into DTD at DLR as well.

YEAH on getting a new mattress! It's great they solved your problem without you needing to pack up and move. We had noisy neighbors on our last trip but packing up just sounded like too much work so we stuck it out.

I think our whole family is up for Sainthood. But really, for many years mom waited on him hand and foot and still does to some extent so she made him the monster that he is. She didn't seem to worry too much, but she called him much more than she should of to keep him happy. I think she knows when he is along she has a different kind of vacation because he is so demanding of attention and time. And he can't do anything on his own. He is like a kid sometimes. Like on the last family cruise and we all boarded and Gail's family went up an elevator and I said we were going to use the back one. He said no, he was waiting for that elevator because Gail used it. I told him firmly that he is new to this ship and I had been on it before and I knew what I was doing and we would all end up at the same place and he was refusing to move so we left. He eventually started following us. In some ways he and Skip are alike but not this way at all. Skip would walk off and explore or do his own thing and Claire and I are wondering what happened to him. LOL.

I'm loving the tour of CBR. We stayed there a couple nights maybe in 2009? All I remember is how BIG the place was!

CSR! It is huge. It's bigger than I like I guess. I know its a favorite to a lot of people but it is one that I thought was fine, but really no need to go back again.

I hope the Disney police never caught up with your great mug heist!

LOL! I feel like I should use them more often because they were free!

I'm not thrilled with the new Disney Springs. I know a lot of people are, but high end shopping just isn't my thing. I'm glad to hear you say the Marketplace hasn't changed much. You know, other than having the bus stop farther away now.

I agree. I know a ton of people love it. It is pretty but that just doesn't belong there in my opinion.

We are so mean to her. And you are right, if we planned only parks she would have wondered why we didn't include a cruise too. She's only 12 now and so moody all the time. I swear almost anytime she looks at me she is giving me a dirty look.....because I am so clueless about everything. If she only knew.

Thanks for the photos of Winter Summerland. Can you believe I have never seen what it looks like? That's so dang cute I'm going to have to find a way to get there now! LOVE that snack stand!

I have seen some photos but it was nice to see it all in person now. I am glad we took the time to do it.

Splitsville looks better than I expected too. I never would have considered that on a trip, but after seeing that, I could maybe be talked into it. I think I heard they're putting one into DTD at DLR as well.

On a normal trip I wouldn't go either, so this fit perfect for this kind of trip. And we had a lot of fun.
I believe you are right and they are adding one in Cali too.

YEAH on getting a new mattress! It's great they solved your problem without you needing to pack up and move. We had noisy neighbors on our last trip but packing up just sounded like too much work so we stuck it out.

Yeah, moving wasn't at the top of my list. It can be a pain at times and we had our stuff all scattered...well mom did, but Claire and I hadn't done much in the way of unpacking since we got the bags late. But for comfort I would have done it.

Claire got out then and dried off and I took some more pictures and we decided to walk around the area a bit.

csr137 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We decided to take the bridge back to our room. We were trying to see which way was closer to our room, walking around the lake or taking the bridge, but in the end I think both ways were pretty much equal from the location of our room.

csr150 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We stopped off at the Concierge desk and asked for an activities sheet and saw what time the campfire was going to start at the pool, which was soon. Claire didn’t want to go. I kind of did, but if she didn’t then I wasn’t going to push it.

One of the things I wanted to do this trip was head to the Chip and Dale Campfire at Fort Wilderness. We had a late Beaches and Cream reservation, so after the campfire we would have to high tale it over there if we wanted to catch it. Mom said there was no way she could stay up that late, so I kind of scratched the idea. I guess it will have to be for another trip.

Mom was grumbling a bit on how late the B&C reservation was. When I originally made it, the plan was we were flying in that day and since we weren’t arriving till something like 5:30, I made it for late in the evening so we had plenty of time to get settled in and make our way over there. I tried changing it once we decided to arrive a day earlier, but of course by then, there was nothing open.

We decided to head over to the Yacht Club now and see if we could get in at Captain’s Grill and have some soup or appetizers before our dessert. I looked on the app and it had plenty of openings but I wasn’t sure how long it was going to take us, so I didn’t make one.

We got ourselves ready and headed off to the bus stop.

csr138 by Jenseib, on Flickr

They had the monitors, but they were either never on, or if on, never accurate, as in just frozen with one set of arrival times that never changed.

csr139 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We took the bus to Hollywood Studios and then made our way over to the boat dock. Claire was quiet and I noticed she was crying. Oh NO! What happened? With an emotional pre-teen I am often the reason she is mad about something. I asked her what was wrong and she waved me off. She said she would tell me later, but they were happy tears and not sad ones. OK??? Then Mom notices and asks and I tell her she will tell us later.

Well after Claire composed herself a bit, she said walking up by Hollywood Studios just made a bunch of good memories come back to her from when she was little and she really loves Disney World and is a bit sad we aren’t going to the parks. I told her my plan is to head there next year and if all goes well we will be taking Gracie (my granddaughter) and Paige (My other daughter). That made her a bit happier then. It really has been about 2 ½ years since Claire has been to the parks, so I understand her feeling a bit bummed about it. But we only has so much money to work with, and the cruise was pretty darn expensive.

We headed towards the friendship boat dock and were almost there and we saw the boat leave. Darn it! Mom was mad that they didn’t wait for us, but there was nothing I could do. So we waited for the next one and it wasn’t too long, but I could see Mom was not happy about waiting.

The next boat arrived and we boarded and soon were on our way. It does make a stop or 2 before arriving at the Yacht and Beach Club, but it was a nice relaxing ride.

We headed over to the Yacht Club and asked if we could get a table and they said yes, it would be just a few minutes (which I think they are trained to say) and a few minutes later we were led to a table.

We made our orders quickly and then we were served some bread.

captain2 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I ordered an appetizer. I can’t remember what it was and it was so good we ate it before I remembered to take a picture. I think it was something with crab or scallops. Claire didn’t eat it, but Mom and I did.

We also each got a bowl of clam chowder.

captain3 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Claire has expensive tastes. She loves Clam Chowder and she is a steak eater….and she likes BIG steaks! LOL.

captain1 by Jenseib, on Flickr

It was tasty and just hit the spot.

We still had quite a while till our B & C reservation. I really think Mom would have left if she knew her way back. She is not a night owl.

We sat outside the Yacht Club for a while and just chilled.

relax8 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I think I called Skip and Mom probably called Dad then too.

boardwalk4 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We decided to go and see if we could get in earlier and the gal told us it was unlikely, but to come back about 30 minutes before our reservation and she would see.

We took off just walking around then.

yc4 by Jenseib, on Flickr

And we realized that Illuminations was starting so we headed over to the bridge to watch.

boardwalk2 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We could only see the higher stuff, but it was still nice.

boardwalk5 by Jenseib, on Flickr

boardwalk3 by Jenseib, on Flickr

After that was over we walked back over the B & C and tried to check in. Of course there was now a different girl there. I told her that the other gal had told us to come back 30 minutes early and she would see about getting us in. This girl gave us a pager, but said it was unlikely. I understand, the place is small and they are always busy.

We walked around a bit and looked around and then found a seat at a table near by.

yc5 by Jenseib, on Flickr

yc2 by Jenseib, on Flickr

yc3 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Mom was pretty impatient again about the wait. She kept saying that they needed to get rid of the arcade and expand this place if it is so popular. LOL.

Finally we were called in, right about the time of our ADR. We were seated and Mom then realized just how small the place really is. I told Mom that Claire and I had planned to share the No Way Jose (with all vanilla ice-cream) and that portions are big. She decided she would share with us too.

We placed our ordered and then sat and chatted and watched as a few kitchen sinks were delivered to surrounding tables.

Then our beauty came!

captain4 by Jenseib, on Flickr

And it was DELICIOUS!!!!

Mom said she couldn’t imagine anyone eating the whole thing and I told her how my co-worker Patty and I had each gotten one a few years ago and polished off the whole things by ourselves….and of course we were so full and felt sick after!

It was the right amount for the 3 of us. I actually finished off the bottom as Mom wimped out pretty early on and Claire was done before the last few bites.

When we were done we decided we would just take a taxi back to Coronado. I had mentioned Uber, but Claire didn’t like that option so much, so a taxi was fine. The funny thing is, we came out and asked for one and the porter waved over to have one pull up. Then a second family arrived and asked for a taxi and they waved for a 2nd one. So the first one arrives and this family runs to the taxi. I KNOW they knew we were waiting for one too. Oh well, we weren’t in a hurry, and I said to the porter, well if they need a taxi that bad, let them go. LOL.

Ours was right behind and we had a really nice guy and we chatted with him the whole way back.

Once we arrived at CSR we headed back to the room. Claire and I got our mugs and went to fill them while Mom went to bed.

Claire and I filled our mugs and just chatted and walked around. One of my friends messaged me and asked if I would take pictures of where you do the airline check in and get the Magical Express. We decided to scope it out now in case we didn’t have time tomorrow.

We then sat down on a bench and just looked over the water. I was messaging my friend too and I think Claire was texting with a friend as well.

We took one last selfie before calling it a night.

relax9 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We then went back to our room and got ready for bed. Now to try out the new mattress. It was soooo much better, however it still had a slight slant to it, which makes me think the actual bed itself was having issues. But at least the mattress was solid. I slept much better this night.

This looked like a nice and relaxing day, but still with plenty going on.

We let Claire pick which course we should play and she picked Winter.

She chose wisely. I think out of the three Disney mini golf courses, this is the best.

I told her after a while we could just get on the next bus that came and then transfer and head to Disney Springs, but the next bus that came was for Coronado!

I am glad that this worked out for you.

Bowling is by the hour so we could bowl as many games as we could in that hours time.

That sounds like a pretty good deal.

I am glad that this worked out for you.

It took awhile but that is to be expected when you use Disney transportation.

That sounds like a pretty good deal.

It really wasn't too bad of a price and we had a lot of fun that hour.

Oct. 21, 2017, Friday, Day 3

Today’s the day! Everyone else was going to be arriving today and we would finally make it to a park…for the Halloween party!

Once again I was up pretty early. I wanted to do some laundry before the cruise so I gathered up everything and headed that way.

I tried to do a live filming but the reception was really bad in that area.

I then went and filmed the airline check in area. I sound really dorky. I try to talk quietly so people don’t think I am crazy, but it ends up making me sound even dorkier than normal. Plus I was walking and out of breath….yeah did I mention I am out of shape?

After laundry was done and put back in the room, we all got ready and headed for our early lunch reservation at one of my favorite places, T-Rex!

This is the look Claire gives me all the time.

hallowday22 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I was looking for a 45th anniversary jacket and there were none to be found. They had a few anniversary items but nothing I wanted. I had been looking each day in various stores and never did find much.

It then kind of hit me why it felt so off in here. They had a lot LESS merchandise than before. The racks were really spread out, especially clothing and really the selection was poor. It made me sad as this used to be the go to store where we always found something!

I think I did pick something up for my granddaughter Gracie and then we headed out.

We headed in here and browsed around for a bit.

I browsed the Dooney’s but nothing was shouting out to me and I decided against getting one. I also looked at the suitcases, which I do not need, but I almost talked myself into buying this one just because it was so darn cute.

Thankfully I restrained myself and didn’t buy it. I really did not need it and it was very pricey.

After looking around, we started to work our way towards T-Rex.

Fulton’s is being redone and made into a new restaurant. It looks like it had been gutted and not really near completion yet we saw a banner that said Paddlefish (the new name) and that it would be opening fall 2016. Well they had a heck of a lot of work to do to get that done in a month or 2. As far as I know, it still has not opened....but I have just seen this past week they now have an opening date in Feb.

I guess they are running behind? Surprise surprise!

I was very disappointed by the lack of 45th anniversary merchandise.

It did not look much further along than on your photo when I was there a month or so later.

All caught up again!

Bowling looked fun and the food looked delicious! I could never talk myself into actually bowling though, I hate doing stuff that I can do at home. I would rather tour some resorts or something that I can't do at home. I don't go very often though so I don't like to waste a minute :p

I did mini-golf, eons ago, it seems! Back in 1999/2000 we did all of the course at both locations. It was fun but I don't know that I would do it again.

I love Claire's look she gives you...I am starting to get that same look from Kira :rolleyes1

I love hearing your voice, makes me feel like I am there with you. I'm still gonna cry watching everyone post on FB :sad1::sad::sad1::sad:

We spent $200 on our Disney suitcase in WDW and we found out in Galveston that it doesn't roll very well. It's fine if you stay in a line but it doesn't like to change directions :( We will be buying another Disney American Tourister before our next trip ::yes::
