***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

YAY! I don't think you were posting here when we first made our FP+ 60 days out but one thing we all noticed is that when you "modify" a FP+ you are offered many more and often much better times then when you first book it. So it is always worth it to check and see if you can modify!
good to know

but no SDMT times all morning or afternoon, so i'm keeping my 3:30....no biggie
yeah that is a lot harder to change, someone would have to drop because I think they are all booked up. I am still trying to move my 4:20 on my last day a bit earlier but if not we can do it last thing before we leave the park.

I feel like their was some talk tons of pages ago about tipping for mousekeeping. I found cute envelopes to print and use, but have a question. What is the typical tip people leave? I used to do a ton of business travel and always left a few bucks on the table, but that was years ago. I kind of have been in the habit of continuing to do so when I stay in a hotel, but I think I'm under-tipping for a family. What do you all suggest?

I know this is a typo, but I could not keep from reading it literally and thinking "I wonder what kind of books she tips?"

I read somewhere $1/person/night. I actually didn't know about tipping housekeeping until researching this trip. Ooops.

From rteetz on the Rumos of Light thread:

There was a rehearsal last night. No idea how it went but Joe Rohde and several other imagineers that worked on ROL are in town...

Mid November is still the target for Grand Opening. Softs could begin any time now.

OMG, I am trying so very hard to not get my hopes up for RoL but crossing all my fingers and toes!!!

I had never heard of tipping housekeeping until our first Disney trip, either! I'm still on the fence about it. Technically, it's not a tipped position. We did $5/day last time. Might do that again this time.

Hahaha. I typed books by mistake (darn autocorrect). Went back in to edit my post but guess I wasn't fast enough before you responded!

Well I did it. Cost me $132 to make the change but I did it. I talked to kiddo's dad and he said he did great waking up at 4am, in fact he was up first and woke all of them up. He was definitely flagging during fireworks though (they went to watch the Disney Studios fireworks from outside, the old fireworks where you could do that - they did not have parkhoppers). Which is fine, I will keep my 6:45 Sanaa dinner which will be perfect if the merry member mixer ends at 5:30 (which is when it always has before) and then after dinner we will go to the room and relax and chill and he will go to bed at his regular time (8:30 or so) and be up at our normal wakeup time (6-6:30am or so) for EMH at AK the next day.

Also having the extra time at Epcot means that we can probably just RD soarin' and maybe do it twice, have breakfast at garden grill and get an earlier start at MK on our switchover day.

What sent me over the edge was finding a very cheap hotels at the airport. Now I am just trying to decide if I want to do a "park sleep fly" or get up and move my car to the economy lot.

Yay!! Glad you but the bullet and you're happy with it! Think of it as a monetary replacement if you cancel the MVMCP Dessert party. :)

I guess the road blocks aren't quite over yet for us. DH just left the doctor because his knee swelled up overnight. They are sending him to an orthopedic, but he probably can't get an appt there until at least Thursday. Really hoping that it's nothing major, but have no idea what the cause could be. And there goes that overtime pay I was hoping for, and his missing time this week will be unpaid.

On the plus side, today is our 30 day mark until we leave.
Oh no!! I'm sorry to hear about DH's knee. Lots of ice and Aleve...and try to keep it elevated.

That's awesome! So psyched for you!!! I totally feel you on the importance of starting a trip with MK. It's gonna feel weird to me on my trip having my first park day be Epcot, lol.
Agreed! By DH's special request we are starting with AK (it's usually our last park) and it's going to be our first time NOT doing MK first!

I think the general is $1 per person per night. I personally tip $3-$5 a day, for each day. Some people wait until the end of their trip, but I don't think it's a good practice because you likely have different housekeepers throughout your stay. I did read in another thread that Mouskeeping is not officially a tipped position, but I do it anyway because I know how hard they work. To each his own, though.

Ordered more shirts from teepublic last night. :rolleyes1
I HAD to get DH the Gizmo Duck shirt I saw...it's his favorite character and there's never anything in the parks with him on it.
I also got us semi-matching Best Day Ever shirts (in different colors with the castle.)
Still have to order my SDFP MB's from Disney store online, and decide if I'm going to get the Vera mini-hipster. I really want to make sure whichever crossbody bag I bring is lightweight and the strap won't irritate me.

Oh, and yesterday I was at Walmart and moseyed over to the Christmas stuff. There was a woman looking in the same aisle as me, and at the same time we both noticed Mickey ear headbands with little Santa hats on them. We got to talking, and turns out she's going to Disney on Dec 9, and is saying at Pop! She told me I would love AoA, especially the Little Mermaid rooms. That made me feel a little better. :)

The Vera mini-hipster is very lightweight. I own a solid black one and I'm carrying it to the park with me along with my Vera backpack. You can adjust the straps to wear it cross-body, but if you put it in the shortest possible setting you can wear it on your shoulder like a normal purse. Unless you really load it down, it should be lightweight and won't irritate you!
