September 28, 2016, DVC Member Cruise on the Magic!

I've been watching the Peggy's Cove webcam this morning, as there are three ships in Halifax today, one at 8, one at 9, one at 10. Similar to our port day with one in at 8 and then the Magic plus one other ship in at 9. Peggy's Cove is fogged in this morning, the lighthouse can barely be seen. I am hoping we don't have a foggy morning on our visit!

People start arriving around 8. The crowds picked up a bit starting around 9:15 - 9:30, which could time to tours from the first ship in port. I saw the first busses around 9:45, then a lot more busses and people starting at 10:15. There's a steady stream of people but nothing too overwhelming. I don't think folks are staying too long today because of the fog. On nicer, clearer days, folks seem to linger a bit longer around the lighthouse.

Here's the link again to the Peggy's Cove webcam -

and here is the link to the webcam by the Maritime Museum at the Waterfront, to watch the crowds in that area with multiple cruise ships in port.

Thanks Mathmagicland.
Foggy mornings might be a common occurrence up there.

I'm not worried at all...we will have enough time for sightseeing and pictures I'm sure.

been watching that Peggy's cove webcam for the past half hour. Everybody has a jacket on. Do you know what the temp is today?
It's been an interesting morning. I love how the fog lifted and the whole cove came into view. Thanks for posting this.

The high in Halifax today was 70 degrees and the low will be 54 tonight. Tomorrows high will be 70 and clear. Peggy's Cove could be a little cooler and as I remember it windier. I was there in June and early September. Both times beautiful days. I wouldn't want to be there in the rain. Those big rocks would be slippery.

New exchange!

Let's use FE to trade new or nearly new pins! 1 pin for trade. Mathmagicland has started a conversation, in which we will mention what we like!

I'm feeling abandoned here. Am I the only one without their cruise docs?:scared:
Have you called Member Services yet? I would have by now - its two weeks until departure, they will need time to reissue if needed. I hope you get them soon!

Actually I did today. Got the Oh they were sent out late line. We will see what tomorrow brings. Thanks for the sympathy.

We have not gotten ours either. So you are not alone. I believe we live in the same general S. Jersey area which may or may not be a coincidence.

Did get a couple emails from DCL this week. The 1st was regarding non-Canadian and non-US citizens possibly needing visas to enter Halifax, and to make sure to check the entrance requirements.

The 2nd was yesterday - a generic "you're cruise is almost here" type email.

I received the email about Canada & visa requirements, that seemed to be sent kind of late for those who may need to get a visa. I have not yet received the generic 'cruise is almost here' email. You'd think everything would be sent at the same time or close to the same timing....this feels a bit disorganized on their side compared to last year.

Sending positive cruise docs thoughts to all in S. Jersey area that your docs arrive today or tomorrow! :smickey:

yes! everyone send positive cruise doc thoughts our way. Every day I visited my mailbox this month has been so sad:sad:. I'm thinking of mailing a DCL postcard to myself as a quick pick me up..

Anyone close by NYC and still thinking of a pre-cruise night stay in the city, you might want to check some hotel rates again today. I just happened to check mine, which was already booked a few months ago, & current rates are 20% lower. I was able to rebook at the lower rate, which is an unexpected surprise! You may be able to find a room at a better rate for those hotels still hoping to fill unsold rooms.
