Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

We are staying in a bungalow in October. Hopefully, the air conditioning problem will be fixed.

What are the options for getting to MK in time for the welcome show? Is the monorail fastest/best? What about the resort launch? Is there a time of day they start and stop those two modes of transport?

Usually the monorail is the fastest. It typically runs 2hours before park opening so 7am for a 9am open. The boat will also work but we take the monorail when at all possible so we don't have to fold our stroller. Double check the schedule upon arrival because there have been some days of modified monorail schedule though.

3 Days until we check in! We only planned this trip about a month ago so very last minute on the FP+ and ADR. I was able to grab a reservation at Chef Mickey's (just opened up last night) for 7:15am on one of our MK days. We did CRT last trip and my daughter loved it. She is 4 our son is 2. I am not super excited about the food but think the kids will like the characters. I was so surprised to find the opening I think I may have overlooked a biggie - How are we going to get there that early??? I know resort monorail should start at 7am (Monday with 9am MK opening) is that enough time? Other options? We have a car but I don't want to drive because then we would have to pick it up later in the day after we've been at the park.

If I were you I would take Uber or Lyft. The trip will only take a few minutes and cost about $5. For us that would be money well spent to avoid stress of being late and allow for the most sleep.

If you don't have one of these services already you can get a least a free first ride and sometimes more. If you know someone who has the service they can refer you so you both get the perk. The other thing is that once one of you has it you can refer anyone else with a phone in your party to join and reap more free ride that way.

Enjoy your trip!

Wanted to report on our incredible Poly stay from 8/23-9/1! We booked under the magical deal. We came back Thursday night and are all still in total Disney withdrawl! This is going to be a bit long so bear with me!

This was our first stay at the Poly and I have to say I was worried that it wouldn't live up to the hype or how I imagined it would be. Let me say this: it was paradise! I felt totally immersed in the tropical feel! From the wonderful fragrance in the lobby to the tiki torches, the music playing around the resort, the lush landscaping and theming! Amazing!

We arrived around 9:15pm on Tuesday 8/23 to check in. We had requested 3rd floor Fiji or 3rd floor Samoa, and ended up getting assigned to first floor Aotearoa. We did politely mention that we had requested those buildings/floors and asked if we could be given a 3rd floor room, at that point it didn't matter the building, we just wanted 3rd floor. The CM at the first desk was very kind, called the manager and while they had a 3rd floor room in Fiji facing the marina, it was a king room (not going to work for 5 of us!) and there were no 3rd floor rooms open that night. We were offered the opportunity to switch the following day to a 3rd floor room in Samoa which we said yes to.

Let me say this, once we got to the room in Aotearoa, (room 1227) I was pleasantly surprised. It was super clean, the beds were heavenly, and it was soooo quiet! Our room faced the beach, and our view was of palm trees, landscaping, and a tiki statue! It was quick 3 minute walk to the GCH and the pool. I would have been happy to stay put, but my husband isn't a fan of ground floor rooms, so we did end up switching.

The next day we moved to Samoa 3617. It overlooked the Oasis pool. This room was clean, but did show a little bit of wear on the furnishings, and the bathroom fan didn't work super well. Nothing to complain about, just to note. We could also hear people swimming later in the Oasis pool (after midnight) because they don't kick you out. However, the Samoa location is truly a central one and I can see why this building is so requested! It was a quick 1 or 2 minute walk to Captain Cooks or the Lava pool, 1 minute to the Oasis pool, 3 minutes to the monorail, less than 5 minutes to the bus stop, and less then 10 minutes to the TTC.

We were vacationing at the same time as friends. Both sets also were assigned rooms upon arrival that didn't meet their requests and they were both moved to their satisfaction. One started in Aotearoa (first floor facing monorail, opposite end of building we started in) and got moved to 2nd floor Rarotonga (end by the bus stop which they loved!) and the other started in Rarotonga 2nd floor facing monorail and got moved to 1st floor Niue and the end and loved the location as well. So again, it doesn't hurt to ask to be moved and even though 2 of us families had to wait until the next day, bell services was quick and helpful. The moves were seamless.

We ate at Captain Cook's almost every day for breakfast. Everything was good. We also ate twice there in the evenings for a quick dinner. We did the 'Ohana Best Friends Breakfast and had a perfect experience! DH and I had drinks from Trader Sam's out on their terrace on our arrival night but never made it into the indoor bar. Next time! Got Dole Whips from Pineapple Lanai twice!

We never had an issue with either pool getting a chair to sit on, because we tended to go to the pool late at night or on off times. We all adored the Lava Pool and all the amenities...the slide, the hot tub, the bar, and my 6 year old loved the kids play area! The Oasis pool area was wonderful too! We were able to score cabana seating a few times. We actually ate dinner twice in the center cabana!

On Friday, 8/26 which was our animal kingdom day, we came back to the resort at 4pm, and decided to order the 'Ohana Twilight Feast for dinner in our room. My kids were looking out at the Oasis pool and saw a lady packing up and leaving the center cabana, so I called down and asked her to stay til we came down (truly a minute.) So kind of her to hold it! I was able to call private dining and ask for our dinner to be delivered to the cabana! What an enjoyable experience! They were happy to do it, and everything was delivered in take out cartons and we were given paper plates/cutlery. There were 5 of us... myself, DH, DD14, DD12, and DS 6. After talking it over with the private dining CM, we ordered 2 adult portions, and 1 kids portion. It was PLENTY of food, so much so that we didn't finish the salad and save the bread pudding for later! There was a good portion of everything and no one felt slighted. I would totally do this again when staying there! Delicious!

On our Blizzard Beach day (which was after our 'Ohana breakfast) we decided to take an Uber XL to Blizzard Beach due to the bus switching and we weren't done at breakfast until 9:30. The Uber ride was a great option! We were at Blizzard Beach within 15 minutes! That ride was free due to just signing up for the app, but we also did an Uber on the way home, and it was $12. The Uber was able to bring us right into the resort with no problems.

Mouskeeping was good. She did a nice job of cleaning the room and she left us extra towels when we requested them. We didn't receive any towel animals nor were my kids stuff animals arranged on the beds as we had experienced in the past. Not a complaint, just an observation. I'd rather have a well cleaned room over anything else!

The only hiccup we had was our departure day. We didn't use the RAC for our luggage due to Hurricane Hermine looming, and possible flight delays/cancellations since our flight out was at 6:20. We checked out and stored it with bell services. Our Magical Express bus was due at 3:10pm. It never showed. By then our flight was delayed by 30 minutes. They kept checking and waiting, saying it was coming. 2 busses came and dropped off, but no pick ups. The 3:40 bus arrived, and a manager thought we could go on that one, but they were full. Then the manager, Anthony, got us a cab and gave us a cab voucher for the ride to the airport so we could make our flight. So, in the end we were well taken care of!

We were totally thrilled with our Poly experience and are very spoiled for other resorts now! I will post some pictures later when I get them uploaded and feel free to ask any questions!

That all sounds absolutely awesome! I am so glad you had an awesome holiday! How lovely to get your dinner in the cabana. Glad they looked after you to make sure you got your flight too!

So, this twilight feast. Is it DDP friendly? I am just thinking if we don't mange to grab an O hana ADR (I am having planning anxiety already!

We have booked a Lagoon View, so we might end up in Aeoteroa, glad to hear it's nice, even though it's not what you wanted (so happy for you that they could switch you)

It sounds like a great trip! Thank you for your review.

Not sure this is the right place to post this question so I'm going to cross-post it!
I am trying to make breakfast ressies for Kona for breakfast on Christmas Day. Have had no luck and always seem to get a 12:00 opening. Does Kona not do breakfast on Christmas day or would it be so popular that its' sold out but not sold out for lunch/dinner? Does anyone have any idea why I can't get a breakfast ADR? Thanks!

We have been trying to get one this week and weren't able to online. It didn't show up in the app, and had a message to call for reservations on the website. We finally called, and were able to get one for Wednesday.

Ugh guys...this week is kicking my butt! We leave for the Poly this coming Saturday and I am in full on anxiety mode worrying about something stupid happening here at home that would mess up our trip (or force us to cancel....we have our own business, a horse farm and leaving it is very difficult for a vacation). I've got two horses (of the 32 we have) with medical issues that may be problematic...had to call the sheriff today because some strange guys skulking around our property taking pics of our horses and everyone is in a tizzy...

Talk me off the ledge!!

I'm the same way before leaving. I worry about my animals too. I would say the guy just wanted some beautiful pictures of your horses. We have a guy around here that travels around our city taking pictures all the time. I wouldnt worry about him. I would have the person taking care of your horses call each day and let you know how they are, it will help to ease your mind .

First visit at Disney for us as adults and our 4 & 6 yo. We will be staying garden view CL at the Poly and I have a preliminary request for a 3rd floor balcony, but to be honest each floor sounds like they have their own advantages. I also requested "mid-hallway".Would anyone recommend requesting another type of room (e.g. 1st floor for outside access, 2nd to be closer to club floor snacks). Any feedback would be SO appreciated. Also, since we won't be able to see Wishes from our room do kids every come out into the lounge in PJs?
