Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

My discount this summer was 8%. Discounts are based on supply and demand. Generally, the fuller the resort, the less the discount. A lot of people put off staying at the Poly the past couple of years due to construction. Now that it is nearly done, people are coming back.

Not a very big discount..but still...even a small one is better than none :thumbsup2...which offer was that...I have only seen the 15% I think as the lowest...

Hope you get the room you were supposed to, or someone else will get the present we slipped under the door for you. :) We were handed that pixie dust on our way out of Magic Kingdom tonight and we don't need it, so we thought we'd pass it along. Enjoy!

What a very nice thing to do! :goodvibes

I know that there has been some pool talk and I just wanted to add my 2 cents...lol...FWIW....We spent time at both pools on our recent trip...and I thought they were both very nice..but with different vibes....the Oasis pool had a calmer atmosphere...I thought the pool side food and drink service was very nice...but..I think that they do need some more umbrellas around for shade...cause that summer sun in Florida can be super hot... :cool2::eek:.....I do wish though that they would have those big old cabanas available to reserve/rent.. ....The Lava pool was definitely busier...lots more kids.... so noisier...lol... a fun energetic atmosphere...adequate loungers available ..even mid day...and whole lot more umbrella table and umbrellas in the lounge chair area....Looking forward to a lot more pool time soon!

Your questions have been answered and I'm sorry if you already know this, but just making sure you know the monorail from Poly only goes clockwise, so if you get on at Poly you stop at GF, MK, CR, and then the TTC (where you can transfer to the Epcot line). The express monorail does go through the Poly the other direction but it does not stop. Generally speaking, it's quicker for you to walk to TTC than take the monorail 3/4 of the way around and transfer. Walking to the TTC for a quick trip to Epcot is one of the most underrated aspects of the resort.

Thank you, yes I know about the loop - but don't know about the express monorail? Someone posted below that there's an express monorail from Poly to MK??

Which one did you have waitlisted?
Our first part (5 nights) is through DVC rental points and it's for a standard view studio room, then I would book a standard view villa (studio) through Disney for the remaining 2 nights.
I had the one night standard view waitlisted but both my reservations were through DVC points - not sure if that made a difference or not.

The express monorail goes from the TTC to MK and back, no other stops. If you get on at Poly, the resort loop, it will stop at GF before heading to MK.

Did you request Fiji third floor?

Yes. Our reservation included a request for #1-3rd floor with balcony and #2-Fiji. Then four days before we left I faxed a request in to the Polynesian that I would like a third floor with balcony. And I would like Fiji Marina side or Samoa Oasis poolside.

I had done online check in too. Selected 3rd floor and Fiji.

No, the Express Monorail goes from the TTC to the MK in a counter-clockwise loop with no other stops. FYI, you can walk from Poly over to the TTC to catch the Express Monorail to get to the MK if you want (vs taking the Resort Monorail that stops at the Poly). Some people will do this, it kinda makes some sense if your room is on the DVC side (east side) of the resort and depending on the time of day. That wouldn't be my first transportation option but it's possible.

Ok thanks :thumbsup2. If you get time post a picture of your view :)

I'm not sure, but you could always put the charge on your magicband and then apply the Disney gift cards to your room charges.

I would do that in a heartbeat, except I was thinking of renting a boat right after checkout while we kill time before our flight.

Did you make a request for Samoa? If so what did you add for a request?I would like 3rd floor Samoa but would take any room in that building.
I requested first floor Samoa over the phone, online and through touring plans. Just request 3rd floor Samoa. It's a fabulous location if you like to be by the pools.

You can still use your band after checkout...we've gone to the parks many times after checking out and dined or bought souvenirs. I believe charging privileges remain until midnight on check out day.

ETA: Just realized the band isn't your issue....the GC is. Sorry! Wonder if you could apply the GC as a credit before you check out?

My 40th Birthday was in July.. and my dad is taking the family to Disney in Sept to celebrate my Birthday.. and we get to stay at the Poly.. super excited!

What a great way to spend your birthday! Hope everyone has a great time :wizard:.

We're still driving. I'm just beside myself with excitement! Just got to the Florida border. Less than three hours!
Woohoo!!! :cheer2: If you see me at my room door, please say hello. If not, we'll probably obliviously stand next to each other in the pool or lobby this week. :rotfl:

Hope you arrived safely and are enjoying the Poly :goodvibes.

I will look for you as we walk past! Drive safely, I believe we are in the middle of one of those fun Florida afternoon thunderstorms. Curtains are drawn for nap time but DS and DD are so not interested. I believe this will be the last trip for naps!
I'm excited for you, we check out on Saturday and I'm already starting to get depressed. AND trying to remember all of the last minute things I really wanted to make sure we didn't miss out on.

Sorry your trip is coming to an end, but hope you had a great time! :).

Hope you get the room you were supposed to, or someone else will get the present we slipped under the door for you. :) We were handed that pixie dust on our way out of Magic Kingdom tonight and we don't need it, so we thought we'd pass it along. Enjoy!

How nice of you! :goodvibes

Just request 3rd floor Samoa. It's a fabulous location if you like to be by the pools.

I agree ::yes::.

We would love to be in Samoa.

Just want to mention that if you don't get Samoa, you can always ask if it's available. It's not guaranteed your room can be changed, but it never hurts to ask ;).

Hope you get it! It's amazing!!

:thumbsup2

Hope you're having a great time. Whats the noise from the show like? Can you hear it much from your room?

I didn't hear anything that I recall. We spent last evening settling in, sitting on the balcony, just taking in the ambiance. Then left our room about 8:30 pm for a swim and walk around the resort. I don't even know honestly if I would have heard anything to actually notice, I was just so into the moment. :flower1:
