Beach Club Villas Refurb Renderings!

Can anyone please tell me if a Dedicated studio is better or quieter than the lock off studios? Planning a trip to the BCV soon but have always stayed at the resort and not the villas. The resort walls are like paper and your neighbors are practically in your room noise wise. Looking for the quietest type of studio and location to request at BCV. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Excellent question. I am in the same boat as you. I have stayed YC many times and dread when the room connects I actually make that my LEAD request - no connecting room! BC Club Level garden view has near all rooms connect and I won't stay there anymore b/c of it. I put on my villa request 'DEDICATED quiet area NOT near service road":

Thank you very much for the information. Very helpful.

I've only gotten a dedicated studio....love them, always the end of the hallway, and some do face the road...

I am new here but we have been BCV owners since it was built. Bought before it was even finished We have loved it there and have not stayed anywhere else on property. We just returned from a visit August 21-August 28. Had a dedicated 2 bedroom villa. The villa itself was clean and looked neat. But on closer inspection many things were wrong with the room.

Master bedroom shower filled with 3-4 inches of water when you showered. The water dial would only go to luke warm and was loose about to fall off. Called about that and two days later it was fixed although the maintenance person thought the water temp was fine and only changed the valve after we said it was almost cold water.

Toilet in the second bathroom rocked back and forth when someone sat on it. ( My young adult sons were not amused) Tried to use the hairdryer mounted on the wall and it started to smoke and make loud noises. We quickly unplugged it.

Curtains were torn in living room. Top shelf of dishwasher would not pull out. All three television sets would scramble the signal when on any channel other than Disney or local stations. Every few minutes the signal would scramble then come back. It was very odd.

I did call about all the room issues. Some were fixed and others not. I can only hope they were fixed after we left.

The carpet in the hallways were disgusting no other word for it.

When we would take the back way to Epcot we had room envy. The rooms were being refurbed. New everything. I just have to wonder when BCV will get its rehab. It so needs new everything. I have now heard 2016 into 2017. We will stay at BVC again of course but not for a while. May finally try for other DVC resorts next trip.

Do not mean to sound like a pessimist but the villas really need help.

Down here at the BCV right now. I can verify that nothing is going on here as far as refurb. Our studio room is worn pretty bad but all in all it is in good condition compared to some of the comments I have read. All of the comments about the hallways are essentially true as far as wear and tear and I hate to say this but smell. The smell seems to come and go with the rain. We noticed it a lot more on very high humidity days which we have had our fair share on this trip. At this time I would not recommend this resort to a friend or stay here again though until Disney gets off their duff's and gets the refurb done.

I stayed in a rundown studio last month, though it wasn't enough to ruin our stay. There was a cigarette burn in the carpet, the glass was missing from the cabinet doors in the kitchenette, the couch had stains and pen marks on it, the curtain rod looked like it was ready to fall off the wall at one end, and a couple of the drawers in the armoire would not stay closed. Even the laundry line wouldn't go all the way back in ;)

Also, in the hallway one of the walls had several pieces of plywood covering what is presumably several holes in the wall to make some repairs.

We still enjoyed our stay, but he room definitely needs to be freshened up.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom august 31 - September 4. Great location but wow it needs to be updated. I felt like the theme was my old aunt's run down beach house. The hallway carpets were disgusting and I felt there was a cloud of dust coming from them. So many small things broken or just worn down in the room. Stained cushions, crunchy carpets, insane shower design, the list goes on.

We had been prepared by the board here for what to expect so we weren't upset, and the location and pool were nice. As we were leaving they were replacing the hallway carpet on the first floor as you head to the parking lot.

How Disney can ask people to pay deluxe rates for the resort is shameful.

We stopped at the model room at boardwalk and it was updated really nicely. Hopefully the BCV gets the same treatment and soon.

The most disappointing part was the lack of a community hall. Never realized how much we used it and liked it at the other resorts. We walked over to boardwalk to borrow movies and hang around playing video games.

They have movies at BCV - you get them at the small counter in the Marketplace. All DVC resorts do have movies. If they have a community hall then that is where you get them but if they don't then they are usually in the store.

This will be our first time staying at BCV as DVC members and after reading the comments about how run down the villas look I wish I could switch to another resort for our November trip but nothing is available for the amount of points I have. So I will make the best of it and hopefully things will get moving before our trip in August.

I would love to go inside their minds and know why they delayed yet again this much overdue refrub. It just does not make any since. This place is LONG over due and it just does not make sense. Surely there is a reason but Disney is famous for keeping stuff like this close to their chest...smjj

I agree! Although we have stayed there before I still wish I could switch! Our reservation is for the first week of December

I remember when all you read about this great resort was just how great it was. We did have a very good time when we were there in June but now, not all but most of the stuff you hear is along the line of rundown, in need of a redo, tired and worn out. That is a real shame....smjj

Wow.

I usually have an idea what's going on at BWV, but haven't paid much attention to BCV.

I have a split stay coming up. Friday and Saturday nights at BCV and then move to BWV on Sunday for the week.

This thread is making me think of cancelling those two weekend nights and/or opening a waitlist for somewhere else and I know pickings are slim.

I could just stay offsite for two nights. Free. Or use Starwood points at the Dolphin. I still have a few days to decide. Lots of other options still.

Is it really that bad? I can put up with some stuff but don't like stained furniture, dirt and broken stuff.

we stayed there in june this year. it was fine. our room was clean and everything worked properly. it was no diff than when we stay at akv. okw is way more worn down.

We just left a stay at the villas and there is no construction going on anywhere. The room wasn't bad and very clean. If everything was pushed back, they should at least clean the hallway carpets. They were pretty bad.

I've seen them cleaning them. They clean them all the time. They are just stained from all the traffic - ie, ground in dirt. After cleaning they look absolute no different.

That's funny because we observed the same thing during our stay in September. I hate to say it but all they're doing is stirring up that rotten smell when they clean them. It's pretty bad when the only time we didn't smell puke in the hallway is when they had just finished painting an area right outside the elevator. I couldn't believe they used that strong of paint, it absolutely would take your breath.

This is discouraging. I get migraines from strong paint smells. I hope that won't be an issue during our trip in December.
