Please report your mileage from home to WDW. Check that odometer prior to departure and then fill us in upon your arrival. The "For 2,000+ Mile Round-Trip Drivers Only!" all-time records roster is lacking a longest drive entry. [We made a few requests to some Canadian drivers but never heard back from them. Perhaps they're still on the road?]

All the best. :thumbsup2

I will make sure I do that. I am so excited right now, we leave in one hour! I will take a picture of the mileage when we leave and when we arrive (if I am not too excited that we are there!). This is our third trip in the last 4 years, but only our first time driving.

Glad you arrived safe and sound. Did you have any poblems with construction or the weather?
Thanks for the gas pricing, yes it is still high in PA. No reason for it. 3.43 in Pocono Pines last week, and it is still 3.49 around here.
By the way, I use to drive with Red and blue lights too. Retired police chief.

See ya next week, litteraly! :cutie:

:thumbsup2 it poured to beat the band in w.virginia for about 20 min. had a few rain showers in northern va, other than that, no rain.:lmao: alot of construction but nothing to slow us down.i hit charlote (sp) nc around 10-11 am and there was nothing. i went through jacksonville at 5:30 and nothing. have a safe trip and we will see you when you get here. they are calling for great weather!!!! low humidity, low 80s, the locals call it winter!:lmao: have a safe trip and text me when your here.:thumbsup2

Howdy!

Indeed, I've been noticing the various numbers. As with the initial thread's maxing out, the DISboards moderators will no doubt provide the necessary assistance in making the transition from Thread II to Thread III.

Until then, give my very best to fwdfacingtentacles if you cross their path.

Have a magical day in Walt Disney World! :wizard:

All the best. :thumbsup2

i will and i did!!! we met last night!! very nice people and we are hoping to meet up again sometime this coming week.:thumbsup2

HELP!!! Anyone ever stay near Charlotte that has 5 in their family?
I currently have us booked in Richburg SC but my son's baseball tournament has been bumped to the weekend we leave due to all the rain and flooded ballfields. We're going to compromise and let him play in the 1st playoff game before we start the drive which mean we'll be leaving from the Lehigh Valley PA around 11:30 a.m. instead of 8:00a.m. So I need to change where we are sleeping for the night and make it a little further North perhaps near Charlotte.
Maybe I'll get lucky and it'll rain next weekend too and they'll cancel it all together, this is the 2nd time they had to bump it another weekend.

That's good to hear. We hope that you continue to have a good time. Don't miss the 40th anniversary MK Wishes fireworks on October 1.

All the best. :thumbsup2

The Mad Dash to prep for Tuesday's departure has begun!

Re-checked our hotel room bookings last night....and found better AAA rates for BOTH dates (same hotel on the way down and back) and saved us about $30 by modding our ressies. That'll cover about 1/2 a tank of gas. :)

Started packing the "Activity bags" for the kids, getting the dry good snacks packed up, and working on tracking down and finalizing the rest of the "in cabin" necessities.

This weekend, we pack the suitcases. Monday night we load the car.

Gettin' REAL close,now!

LOOKS GORGEOUS!

With all the rain we've had up here...I'm not sure my pasty white skin can handle all that sun. I might melt!

I'd seen some other reports showing scattered showers late next week...which would also be just fine with me, I suppose.

But the temps look perfect. Not too hot, not too cold. Here's hoping that weather holds from the 5th - 15th! :)

OK, is there anyone who reads this thread that has driven to Disney Land from East of the Mississippi?

My dh and I are losing our minds and considering a 2 week trip to DL from the southern tip of NJ. :rotfl: I've already built a spreadsheet of killer driving days then complete rest days. Stopping in various places on the way out and way back. But you know how things look on paper v. reality... :headache: So if anyone has the time to regale us with their story, I'd appreciate it. (And, then, perhaps, I can win that award for longest drive. :sad2:)

We have driving to the west coast from near Buffalo, NY but did not go specifically to DL. We did a loop ... here up through the northern route (North Dakota, Montana, Washington State) down to where my brother lives near San Francisco. Then we went east through Yosemite, south to Las Vegas and then home. We did a lot of National Park stuff and took it took us a month. We were ready to kill each other by the time we got home, especially after the muffler got a hole in it around Denver coming home. This was over 20 years ago, and I don't remember how many miles we actually went.

I know other people who drive from here to the west coast every year and they take 3 days in each direction. No stopping to see the sights, but they do stop overnight. Good luck!

its funny, on wednesday and thursday there was a 30 percent chance of showers. showed a sun w/ a big thunder cloud over it. ok, the sky is blue all day, around 2 pm you see a few white fluffy clouds and around 5 you see a darker cloud. this cloud can have it rain over at epcot by test track and the sun is out by inoventions. rain time, 3 min. max.:lmao: i think these floridians have gotten soft. when they tell us a chance of a thinder storm, that means the sun is out from 7 to 9am, pour like crazy for 9 hours, get 6 inches of rain the first 10 min. and another 3 inches the rest of the storm.:lmao: i told tammy on the way down, we should just move here, they have less earth quakes, less rain, it was hotter in the northeast than it was here for most of the summer and we got hit by two hurricanes in the northeast.:confused3 you can buy a mansion down here for $200,000 with an idoor pool and your total taxes are $1500 per year.its getting harder and harder to go home every trip. :thumbsup2

We are the leaving the 3rd to 12th.
I agree, the end of the week looks like a rain event. I don't mind a passing thunderstorm, but the dang last trip was torential downpours. We tried adding a day to go over AK and they closed it due to flooding after over an hour standing in the rain.

Thurs. the dgs is going to MNSSHP, while the dh, dd and I go to the Luau. Should be a nice night for all.
BEATS THE 50 for a high tomorrow and Sunday up here....

Yeas, but your homeowners insurance will cost lots more than the taxes per year!

already checked that out.for the property we looked into, looking into buying a forecloser, there homeowners was higher and for the car insurance, was a bit less. (i checked the sandford area. im sure if i head to the coast it would be alot more) and i still came out plenty ahead. if i buy the same house here as i have now, even in the housing slump, it would pay for my homeowners and car insurance for 25 years. (as long i dont put it in the stock market :lmao:) if you do it the old ducks have to be in a row, there wages here are not close to wages in the northeast.

Happy 40th Anniversary, Walt Disney World! :cheer2:

All the best to all Transportation DISboarders who are currently there.

The special fireworks tonight should be even more memorable than the 25th annivesary EPCOT Illuminations that we saw a few years ago.

All the best. :thumbsup2

We checked all that out too and compared to IL. A nice home with a pool is over 100,000 less near Orlando than here. Property taxes are about half of what it is here, no state tax, home owners insurance was not outrageous more like $600 a year, and car insurance is about $200 more per year. I would save more than the insurance increase per year just in taxes. It all depends on where you move from.

Any 2,000+ Mile Round-Trip Drivers at WDW now (like fwdfacingtentacles and dvczerfs) and the 12 months to follow will be basking in 40th anniversary MK magic! :wizard:

Our countdown is getting short.

All the best. :thumbsup2

Finished the drive home this morning. Asked my husband if there was anything I needed to know and he said "Nope, just stay on 95" and fell asleep. Guess who took a detour to Philly? :rolleyes1
