Dis Meet for New England/MA/Greater Boston

Another Quincy girl who would like to attend.
Thanks for putting it together!

I'd like to attend too.

Is it true that there's 100 pages of posts but no date proposed yet? Just askin'.

My husband and I have attended a few Dis meets before our Disney Cruises. They were usually held at a hotel where we could sit and visit and have lunch.
We also belong to Passporter and have attended some of their meets which were held at a restaurant in CT. People from Ny, NJ. MA attended.

We live in Rocky Hill, CT which is south of Hartford.

We will be waiting to hear about a date and place.

On March 1st, the OP wrote something about posting on the Dis meet site but after searching there, I didn't find anything written by him/her. So I don't know if the process has been dropped. Any suggestions?

There was a parallel thread on the podcast boards which actually got down to someone trying to put something together, but it also went dormant.

With such a large informal group, it is a daunting task.

we would be interested in attending...and my first thought was 'wouldn't a picnic on the beach in Newport, RI be lovely?'

think we should send the hounds out to find dadschum?

I am from NY, but I travel to Blackstone, MA where I go frequently to visit my son. I would be interested if it was a weekend I was available. Keep me informed please.
My DD has a planned meet in Epcot on May 15th with a few disers. I would love to meet more....

I just found this thread. Seems like it may be dormant. Anyone know if a New England meet is still in the works? I am in Southern Maine and along with a few family members would be very interested in meeting other Disney folks.

The Boston area seems reasonable - plenty of places to eat and meet:-)
If Mainers wanted to meet in Portland and take the Downeaster to Boston we could have a mini meet on the train. I would be happy to organize the Maine->Boston end of the event if others are interested in the train.

How about some Sunday in May?

It seems that the OP stopped posting. I think that Boston in May would be great but does anyone have an idea where a fairly large group could meet? By the way, I love southern Maine..especially Wells, and Ogunquit (Perkins Cove) area.

Hi my name is Eric and I am not the original poster here but am willing to try to plan a New England meet. I never have done one before and have thought about planning a New England grand gathering to the world but I need to start off small.I do not know allot of people here and this a good way to meet some of my fellow DISers.I live on the MA/NH border there is a movie theater called Chunky's where you sit in big recliner car seats and watch a movie and order food from a menu.So my idea is to do a Dis meet around the opening of the new POTC movie.I can reserve some tables for us the closest theater to me is Nashua NH .We could also look into one of the IMAX showings at Jordan's Furniture in reading I could also look into that.Chunky's kind of a more all in one experience food and a movie.I will post a link to chunky's and tell me your thoughts. http://www.chunkys.com/

Nashua makes It tough fo those of us in southern NE. Boston would be more central. Maybe meet for lunch and go on a Duck Tour or something

Thats fine if people prefer Boston. It is not hard for me to get to.I do like the duck tour idea if others are interested? I can look into renting a duck and finding place to eat thats is if everybody is ok with idea of me doing the planning?.Keep on posting some ideas guys.

Sceavis..it's fine with me if you want to get something organized. I was disappointed when the idea seemed to fade away. Thanks for getting it going again!

Thanks so much for suggesting a place, and getting things moving with this again. I think that while Boston might work for some, it would definitely not work for others. And there is NOTHING that will make everyone happy. So, I say we try to set a place and a date, and if people would like to come, GREAT! and if not, maybe next time.

With that being said, (and I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes here...cause a few of us could plan together so that one person doesn't have all the responsibility for it) I looked into a few places that I thought would be fun, and would allow people to meet, and have time to chat, and include activities that all ages could enjoy. I tried to look for an outside place that would also have shelter in case of bad weather....
I came up with Kimball Farms in Westford, MA
http://kimballfarm.com/index.shtml.

Their events site is on there, and there is a Unlimited Ice Cream Buffet. YUM!
It includes a tent for 4 hours, the ice cream buffet with toppings, unlimited regular beverages, unlimited use of activites such as driving range, 9 hole pitch and putt, mini golf, bumper boats, volley ball, horeshoes, potato sacks races, tug-o-war and more.
The price is 32.95/adults and 29.95 children 4-12, under 3 is free.
They require a 40 person minimum and you can add things like moonbounce, pony rides, clowns, etc. They have lots of openings for weekends in june and July now, but they do tend to book quickly.

This sounds so fun to me for this group!!!
Thoughts?

Either way, I do think we should plan something, and I would love to help out.

Ok I really like Melmar idea allot so I will move forward with that.I think July screams Ice cream and good weather up in these parts so lets pick a weekend in July.Who would be interested in this?I also came up with the idea some how making this a give kids the world event any thoughts?

Very familiar with Kimballs - its about a mile and a half away from me. :)

It does run on the expensive side (more geared towards corporate outings), but it is a fun place. 36 holes of mini-golf, and there is now an arcade and outdoor grill.

Not sure how to make that a GKTW fundraiser as well. I'd repost on the podcast forum to get ideas.

Also, there is no reason there needs to be just one meet anyways...sometimes informal meetups are a lot easier, like movie meetups, etc.
