Yep, I would say that those of us still here on a daily basis are just gluttens for punishment. It would probably be safe to go away for at least two weeks without missing a single thing.
Free QSDP through August 14th has been offered for a while now...I got a postcard for it back in February and I believe others got theirs even earlier. Obviously this time a timeframe they're still working on, which is why the offer is still going out.
Say you check in on Aug 14, can you still get the QSDP for the lenght of your stay?

You can't possibly know this. I'm glad it worked out for you in the past, but I would hate for someone to rely on your opinion and be disappointed.
I have tried to "apply" a promo (a PIN actually) to an existing reservation, only to be told that there were no eligible rooms at my chosen resort (WL).

We have gotten 3 of those at our house in the last week. One to my DD10, one to me, and one to my ex-bf that I haven't dated in at least 5 yrs and has never lived at this address.
As big of a company as Disney is, you would think they could come up with a better system for marketing!
April 30th.
That's my hubby's birthday! You will have a stubborn Taurus!
Or as he says... he just knows he is right so he doesn't have to change his mind!
Yes you can get it for your stay starting Aug 14. We are doing that with the kids free. Aug 14 is more expensive for the room, but value season starts on the 15th so the room is less.
Could you maybe call them and give them MY name and ADDRESS??
The last time I got a pin was Jan. 09 They just don't seem to ever mail me ANYTHING anymore.
Knox.....can you tell me if there is any truth to Disney alternating resorts for booking. Like, lets say, that the next 2 days you go online and try to get a room at POFQ and it tells you it is full, but on the 3rd day it allows you to book it. Is it to try to fill resorts...(duh...I know that is what they are doing)??? But, is that true.....that it may necessarily not be completely booked up? Does that make any sense? There is a CM on these boards who I have learned a LOT from and he could answer this precisely.
Let's assume what we read a few pages back about the resort managers being responsible for allocating rooms on the promo. I've heard that now a few times. I don't know it for an absolute fact, but let's pretend u were the resort manager responsible for revenue at AKL and when the time came to allocate fall promo rooms.. all of those club level rooms were booked.
Would u take a chance on some of them cancelling - knowing that you could release them on a less expensive (to the resort) discount later on?
I would take that chance. Depending on what the room 'target occupancy' was for the time in question at my resort.. Let's say it was 92%. Each resort and room category has a target % of occupancy for each time of the year... that might even break down by week.. I don't know how that part works for sure. But I can assure you they have targets.
If a room category was 82% or higher booked against a 92% target rate - I would not release any if I were the manager.
If the room category is at or very near the targets for the promo time frame - I would NOT release those rooms on (what can be) one of the single most expensive promos (cost per guest/per day) .. I would chance the cancellations and hope someone else will either snap them up at rack rate or on a less burdensome promo later on.
Why? Cause that's the smarter business move.
My son's b-day is May 2nd. He was due 4/27. I had to have a C-section because, even though I was fully dialated, he wouldn't drop into the birth canal. Even pre-natal, he was one STUBBORN Taurus...... and nothing has changed since!!!
Good luck and may you have a short delivery of your precious wee one!
Thanks! That's great! Now I just wish I had this pin
I guess I am a gluten for punishment, because after the fiasco yesterday I swore I would never answer again...but I want to help so here goes again..
chimo2u...first I am in the same boat as you are I want to get a AKL club room (not the same time you want to go), but that manager (as of today) has either released all the rooms they want under the specific code ( 40% off slider) or has not released any yet. I have inquired nicely repeatedly over the last few weeks and to no avail. It is simple if I want to go during the time I desire then (for now) I either take the 40% off and get a nice savannah view or forgo the 40% to off get a club, the difference is a very easy choice for right now do I want to spend and extra $1400.00 for my particular vacation? yes or no...No amount of cajoling to date has worked.
So when FD comes out - if it does...., then I will be in the same boat with different oars (excuse the metaphor). I will then be trying to get FD as well as club level and just to be greedy even throw in the 40% off code. Now if they (ie Hotel manager) has released rooms under that set of codes and I am quick on the switch - then I am good to go, if not my original choice remains...Am I likely to get all of this doubtful
For me - right now - the 40% off slider code is too good of a bargain to pass up.
And yes, I phoned again last night - same result , but I will let whomever on this board cares, that there are a considerable number of rooms available at club level and using the 40% off code( if you have one) at the Poly, GF, WL and a few others. Why do I know, because the CM offered me them as a modification to the AKL one I have already done my $200.00 deposit down for.
So, about the Hotel manager having control over the rooms etc etc...Do I know this as a 100% solid direct from Disney board room fact - no of course not. So how did I come about this divination? Lots of sources, first from talking to the various CM's in club level - one who was the second to the Hotel manager at AKL. In my conversation with that person, and asking alot of question on how the whole thing works, that is MY conclusion - again, the person never came out and showed me a powerpoint presentation on Disney budget breakdown. Next, talk to any manager in any respectable hotel chain that answers to a board of directors and shareholders. The local manager gets told from head office what promos they offer corporately and then what budgetary compensation or adjustment is available and then it is up to the manager how many rooms/etc to let out and when. If he/she messes up, well, then the boardroom has someone to blame - don't they? Finally talk to some of the more knowledgeable CM's - not just on the phone, but around the resorts and take an interest in how their day is going, in other words shut your mouth and listen for a change, it is simply amazing what you can learn. Lastly, a knowledge ( some not as great as others not doubt) of how a corporate budget works and who gets the blame if it does not. And lastly a little common sense .this one is the easiest. Do you really think a board of directors is sitting down and going over how many rooms in which resort to open up to a certain money making schema not a chance and oh BTW thats what all these promos are money making schemas, dont think for a minute that Disney is not doing this because they love the public. They are counting on the other avenues of revenue that are generated when people put their brains n park on a holiday.
I know it sounds like I am a bitter disgruntled old person on the contrary I can hardly wait for my Disney vacation When I get in the parks the wife unit is embarrassed because I am the worse kid..if I could wear Mickey ears and get away with it I would. It is simple knowledge means power and gives you the choice.
