Old Key West 101 & Pool Party update post #84

Hi,
Jules (me!) DH David, DS George(18), Twin DD's Ellie and Mitzi(16), and possibly DD's friend Lauren (16) on 26th.:)
(Sorry, can't remember how to load photos)

Jules, do you have a photobucket account?
Easy to set one up if not (mine here http://s6.photobucket.com/home/wayneg1/allalbums)
upload a photo, once uploaded hover over the pic and it will give you different codes, you want the bottom one IMG code. Just copy and paste that on here.

Updated post #84 to here.:goodvibes

Seriously, I'm always the one holding the camera, but will try and find one!
Mitz is on the left, and Elle's is on the right.

Thanks Wayne!

Sorry but highly unlikely we will be able to make the 26th, we do arrive on the 22nd and have 3 nights 'planned' somewhere on-site though we haven't booked yet. Remaining part of holiday we are in an off-site villa.

Unfortunatley evening's out are not always, or very rarely possible for us, partly due to Joshua's crazy sleeping pattern where he gets up before 5am every morning, hence early evening he likes to wind down, play in the pool or watch DVDs etc
For example you would be surprised how few times we have been to a theme park in the evening, and each time he falls asleep.
Planning certain things can be difficult for us, and I realise also perhaps not easy for everyone to often understand, bottom line is we cannot always arrange things in advance, ADRs, theme parks and pool parties!

Not sure I fancy going on my own, and not being able to have a drink to be brutally honest.

What we will have later in the year is a decent idea of our first 2 or 3 days, especially morning visits to the parks, so hopefully we can bump into some of you then. We also plan to attend the likes of Outback restaurant and others along the 192, or the likes of Miller's Ale House on I drive...oh hang on a minute, last time we did that at Golden Corral, Joshua wouldn't get out of the car.

As ever what we plan the little chap often has other ideas hence it's very difficult to commit to anything.

Be a shame if you cant make it Johnny, see how the little man is and if you think hes up to it pop along even if its a quick visit, im sure some of the other children will be in the pool he can maybe play with. If not and your staying onsite you can always come for a beer then just get the boat to dtd then a bus back to your resort or a bus to one of the parks then back to your resort.

EDIT: Just re read your post and realise you will be off site by 26th so busses no good to you !!

Sorry you can't make it, but do appreciate that you need to do what's best for Joshua. Will keep an eye out for you at the parks though.

we ll be home by the time you arrive, but hope you and josh have a great holiday

ps following your advice we have booked a villa in the area you suggested xx

The more I live with Daniels condition, the more I understand how little people know about Autism.

My mother for example, we are ten mins late for anything and we get a text asking where we are!

ADR's etc are impossible when you have a child on the spectrum.

Aye lad aye, keep the faith I know loads on here who would freely admit to knowing a lot more thanks to the likes of us two. ;)

Keep smiling matey :)

my son has asd, high functioning, and we find the routine of making adrs actually helps us.... to each their own as each child is different.
All i hope is that autism becomes less taboo - kev thanks for the ribbon on fb, i sent it to all my friends:goodvibes

Hi Johnny, we'll look out for you in the parks :thumbsup2

The school where I teach has an attached autism unit, and the majority of the kids come into 'main school' for some portion of the time. This year alone I teach 8 kids with ASD (aged between 11 and 18) and have taught many more over the past few years - all of them completely individual and, by turns, wonderful and challenging! It would be really nice to meet you and Joshua

Hi All

I cant join you in your "formal meets" either as I am in Old Key West from the 1st to the 10th August (we are staying on International Drive from the 21st July) but I would have loved to have said hi to any other DISers.... especially as this is my first WDW trip as a single mum with 2 teenagers!!

I will keep an eye out for any of you guys who are at OKW at the start of the month.

We have just watched the WDW planning dvd AGAIN...!! OMG how excited are the three of us??!!!!

xxx

If 26th is better date for everyone its OK with us. Anyone else?
13th Aug OKW main pool
26th Aug TBC.

We had a sudden rush of blood to the head and decided to book for this year. :scared1: We will be at OKW from 13th to the 30th. Would like to try for the 26th. Me, DW and DD (16). We will probably just miss the 13th as we don't get there till about 7pm, assuming everything is on time.

Great news. Added you to post #84 list. How you gone on with flight prices? crazy this August.

Anyone else want adding (or removing) just let me know:goodvibes

Thanks Wayne, yes a big shock on the flights. We opted for Virgin in the end and they were over £800 each:sad2: We could have got indirect flights a little cheaper (we did that last year) but the difference was not that much and the times were not as good. Normally we book way in advance, and we were going to do something else this year, but when we talked we decided we have most fun in Florida. :yay:
