We only booked air with Disney ONCE -- our first cruise in 2000 (before I became an "expert" on airfare research :lmao:). Anyway, I found out later it was almost double what I could have gotten on my own. I just keep searching and use kayak.com and other airfare sites. Prices fluctuate, but I've always thought you can do better than what Disney will give you (plus they won't guaranty direct flights). ;)

Also, check out the DCL air disclaimers. At some point in the ressie if you have air booked through DCL and you realize that a name is wrong and need that changed it is somehow considered a cancellation and is subject to the penalties associated with that. I have to imagine that is a big reason that DU stopped booking air with DCL.

ETA: I found the info on DCL's site!

To change the details of your flight, you are invited to complete and submit the Flight Modification Form available to you in My Online Check-In up to 45 days prior to your departing flight.

The next item says:

As of June 2, 2009, changes such as gateway changes/cancellations, flight date changes and name changes/corrections are considered cancellations and applicable air cancellation fees will apply. Air taxes and fees are refundable. See the Airline Cancellation Fees table below for additional details.

Domestic air cancellation fees apply for sailings where both the embark and debark port are in North America. International air cancellation fees apply for all other sailing itineraries that include a cruise with embark or debark ports outside of North America.

Airline Cancellation Fees
International
Days Prior to Flight Fees (per person) Days Prior to Flight Fees (per person)
89-45 50% of air add-on
44-0 100% of air add-on
30-0 100% of air add-on

Domestic
Days Prior to Flight Fees (per person) Days Prior to Flight Fees (per person)
74-45 $50
44-31 50% of air add-on

So if you get your tickets and they have a wrong name it is going to cost you quite a bit to correct them since I wouldn't think DCL would send that info out until after the 45 day mark has passed.

I just updated my quote with the breakdowns.

OB 7/26 C10A SPH 2A2K $4996.52 [no ins/trns] [1&2 $1419, 3&4 $888, T&F $382.52]

DH got a tidbit from a knowledgable CM today. Suite holds are 24 hours. IC holds are 3 days. Meaning any IC holds for rooms from Monday, the deposit would be due today. So, I would expect a fair amount of IC holds to open up tomorrow.

It may be President's week but it's still the same 'ole same 'ole.

LOL! I understand that, but I'm pretty sure prices go up appreciably for big holiday weeks like President's Week, spring break, Easter, stuff like that. May be the same locations, but there are just a lot more people looking to get away.

IC ? I should know but I cant think.

Catagory 6a - 2A with 2K ages 16/17....$7154 with taxes only added.

I did book, but if some of the other lines start running specials, we could be tempted to change if it goes to half the price, which it was this year. Right now we can book a suite on RCI for almost $2000 less which has a separate bedroom, walk in closet, full bath with marble and tub, concierge service etc.
Tempting but not Disney!:thumbsup2

I'd research this a lot before switching. Eg. Talk to other people who have cruised RCI with teens.

We did almost the identical itinerary this past summer with RCI - 2 teens & 1 almost teen. There was not much programming available for them at all. Yes, the price was good and we knew Disney was going at some point, but it was an extended family thing so went. The kids basically ended up doing their own thing but don't want to go back on RCI - we're sticking with Disney. Everything cost - right down to computer game time in their space. Trying to get a drink other than alcohol was a pain as well.

Thanks for sharing that! I would love for some suites to open up tomorrow so I can move on up that waitlist for PC :)

I still keep calling to make sure they have all my info, lol.

We're in the same boat, literally. We are on the PC cruise and are trying to move up. Good luck!

Hi Jeanne

We were on the April 4th Magic with you - great time! If you are calling anytime soon can you ask if there are any cat 1 suites or even a cat 2 left for Alaska between June 6th and Aug 23rd. We sent in an IC request and haven't heard anything. Since we're only at 4 cruises, I can't even call. I hate to hire a babysitter and spend hours on the phone if there is no hope. I assume there is no one to call to check on IC requests, correct?

If you're not calling, don't worry about it.

Thanks
Mary

Has anyone priced the LA to Canada repo cruise in a cat4 for 2a 3c? Just wondering if it is even in my price range.

Thanks!

April was a great cruise!

Of course I am calling, I already have some info for you as we have been inquiring about same types of suites (large families lol).

Sent you a PM!

Hope to cruise again with you in the future :)

Noticed that some posted that Monday's bookings would be phone only. I had a CM AND my TA tell me that bookings on Monday will open up as regular bookings -- online and phone. :confused3

Boy- I hardly ever saw my teen Niece and Nephews since they were having such a great time w/friends in the teen area on Radiance in Alaska in 2006.

I called Disney..if you are on a curtesy hold until today, you are still at $300.00 pp if it is a brand new booking, it has gone up to $600 pp.

Desiree- You and Tracy are saying the same thing and you two would definitely know so the answer is Yes, those of us Silvers definitely are getting screwed on the deposit.

I was an original half pricer and was told I would have to do the $2400 for the 4 of us.
Now, before someone says "well you should have the money blah, blah, blah...." We are taking a 14 day cruise/trip to the Med next summer and paying for that first before I outlay that much for a 22 month away trip.

We will be on the Radiance next month - is it a nice ship? We are looking forward to it. We travel RCCL quite often and although it's not Disney - we still really enjoy ourselves including DD.

I am not sure why they decided to change it half way thru this booking period. I know that in the future I won't be able to put down $1800.00 on any cruise this far away.

I got this a few minutes ago from DVC reservations...thought I would share...this is for Deck 6 The points and prices are for 2 Adults in 5B and 3 in 11A just a little idea. As you see the points jump up end of June through July, than back down again. I did not check this twice with another yet because still deciding if I am going to switch my ressi to DVC for the inside cabin for the boys. I will double check this later today.

CAT 5B
June 7,14,21.... 368 pp first 2 in cabin or $2578 cash

June 28
383 pts = $2683 cash

July 20th -through
August same as June

Cat 11A

June 7,14,21
198 198 166 (see below same as 7/26 )

June 28th through July 19
1st is 206 $1,443
2nd 206
3rd is 166 $1163

July 26th-August(same as June)
198 $1383
198
166 $1163

Dont go by cash amount because I have found DVC to be at times higher than DCL.
