Let's track the EB PC cruise here

Sorry you cancelled.:sad2:
Hi Sandy..........remember me from the 10 Day Wonder Southern trip??
I still play the CD you made us!!:thumbsup2

The trip was truly a TOAL. I would do it again in a heart beat. I thought the trip was perfect in every way. Glad your DD was aboard to enjoy the Trip Of A Lifetime.:woohoo: :woohoo:
She definitely remembers you. I just went over to her house last night and showed her pictures of the trip and she recognized you from the 10 day that we all went on.

He lost his concentration and cracked up at the end of the "show". If he was under he wouldn't have responded to the guy's comment at all since he was supposed to be "sleeping".
ohh, we left before the end of the show so I didn't see that. Faker McFaking huh? figures. LOL

I just finished reading this thread. Thanks for being so patient waiting for us to get thru the Gatun Locks. The weather quickly changed and it did rain all thru the night. They had sectioned off the front of the ship deck 9 which is situated beneath deck10 for wheelchairs. DH sat on his scooter the whole time til lunch. I had gone back later with another diser to film the last lock. We sat behind that darn freighter forever!!!!!! Here are some pictures from our point of view. The first is from a deck7 stateroom showing the storm coming in. OK we were trying to see who could get the first shot of lightning. Yes we were nuts :lmao: We were just about within view of the locks at that time. The next two are in the lock.We must have been in the same position for over an hour. No movement. That poor guy was all alone on the bridge this time. I guess the officers didn't need to be there?????They did give out ponchos to those of us crazy enough to be on deck. But at that point we were wet. So we added them to the luggage. We got hopeful as the sky did clear up over the mountains but alas not over us. All in all it was memorable. DH had a good time and thanks to DCL,we were sheltered from the scorching sun. Hope these pictures let you relive our perspective of the Gatun Lock. We appreciate how long you stayed in front of the computer waiting for us. And thanks for the pictures. they are now part of my trip.:goodvibes

In my opinion they were all faking it. Especially when they demonstrated their pets. Give me a break. So lame.

Hi Cheryl! Yes, it was truly a TOAL!

This is my first post since the cruise...it's been a whirlwind back at work and the kids starting school! At least they didn't have a lot of homework missing the first part of school.

Arlene, your pics of Gatun were great. We also had some great ones as we stood out in front on Deck 10 getting drenched and used our water camera into the first lock. We finally had to cry uncle, grab sweatshirts and dry clothes and head down to Deck 4 as we were freezing. That storm was amazing to experience and having the lights on going through Gatun made everything seem a little surreal.

With respect to the hypnotist -- we didn't go (thank goodness) but let the kids go to it and they thought he was hilarious.

With respect to the rowdy kids -- this was the first time we've ever experienced this on DCL and we wrote something in our comment card about it. We did see two OQ kids get reprimanded by a counselor for sitting in the elevator talking and going along for the ride with whoever joined them. However, that was about the extent of any action we saw taken by Disney employees. We saw a group of boys by the Deck 6 forward elevators being quite loud one night and when we asked them to be quiet, they just backtalked to us. Fortunately, our persistence finally got them to quiet down and it helped that we knew one of the boys (he wasn't being loud but it was guilt by association). We also experienced a lot of running and jumping on the stairs, screaming and overall obnoxious behavior. The worst was a group of young teen boys in line at Topsiders bragging about how they drained the ice cream machine by Goofy's Galley. Someone else told us they would try to deliberately break the ice cream machines.

The issue with the kids was minor in the overall scheme of things and we truly had a wonderful time.

One week ago today was our sea day with some of the calmest seas I've ever seen. And it was pirate night! I got chills standing on Deck 9 travelling about 21 knots in the middle of the Caribbean watching the fireworks!!

Hmm...their dad said that Aly was almost 20 and AJ was 17 the first sea day after Aruba. They were out there a few days. Their mom was probably just saying what DCL told her to in order to avoid causing waves. According to their site their birthdates say the same unless I am doing the math wrong due to jet lag .... Alyson Renae Michalka (born on March 25, 1989) and Amanda Joy Michalka (born on April 10, 1991).

i didnt see them at the pool but i seen them at the adult beach at castaway cay. which i understand why she was there being underage no one bothered them there. by the way they were looking good there.

We were told that the delay at disembarkation was due to a surprise health inspection. :confused3 That wouldn't surprise me, since the ship had been gone for so long, and had been in Colombia.

The hypnotist? A joke. I was onstage for one of his shows on Norwegian. As we left the stage at that show, all of us agreed that we weren't "under" and the ones who "acted out" admitted to faking. I had just sat in my chair the whole time.
At DCL's show, I was in the very front row, and watched people's eye movements, feet movements and hand movements. Not to mention the smiles I saw that were trying to be held back. We were at the early show in the theater, and I seriously doubt anyone was truly hypnotized.

Kid behavior? Some of the worst I've seen. Out of control enough for Christiaan to practically beg parents to get their kids into the Clubs.....and then to have us come out of our room one night to find a kid stuck ON TOP of the elevator (Deck 8, Aft) with the doors open and it halfway between floors, while Security & Maintenance were being called to "unstuck" him....his friends had abandoned him, except for the one inside the elevator. I hope they either dumped the family off in Aruba, or made him stay in his room for the rest of the cruise, but I doubt it. From what I've seen, DCL isn't hard enough on misbehaving kids.

Anyway.....since none of this really affected me to any extent, I don't really care. I didn't have kids on the ship to worry about, and had a great cruise.
We had the later breakfast on the day we got off the ship and no early flights to catch, so we just sat at our table, enjoyed our servers on a more personal level and waited.

I wasn't on the EB cruise, but really reading about this kid on top of a elevator is priceless I was just thinking to myself

Kid's shoe 20 bucks
Kid's lunch money 5 bucks
Kid on top of a elevator priceless

Hi Cheryl, yes, I definitely remember you. Heidi and I even talked about you last night. Glad you had a great time. We absolutely loved it in 2005!

Hi Cheryl! Yes, it was truly a TOAL!

With respect to the rowdy kids -- this was the first time we've ever experienced this on DCL and we wrote something in our comment card about it. The issue with the kids was minor in the overall scheme of things and we truly had a wonderful time.

I would also agree about the rowdy kids on board. We have been on many cruises and never have had this amount of disruption and out and out obnoxious behavior. It seemed we couldn't get on an elevator without having to deal with visiting every floor and climbing the stairs was not much better as most times we were having to avoid kids either pushing past us or jumping around us. We were of course on deck 2 and it did seem like the kids were worse there but there was no reason for these kids to be wandering the halls after OQ was closed. The night I stayed up all night doing laundry I was amazed at how many tweens and teens, were hanging around in the stairwells and hallways at 4 am. Which was when I was delivering FE's so I saw this on many floors not just deck 2. My in-laws who are in their 80's had several stories to tell about the rudeness of kids to elderly folks who couldn't move as quickly, like stealing elevators and pushing in front of them in line. They also witnessed the ice machine draining. We even saw kids who were out and out wrestling in the middle of the hallways. When asked where there parents were they told us they didn't have any. When asked by the room steward to settle down they just laughed at him and continued on. Truly, I was surprised by the basic lack of manners and common courtesy of many kids. Now I know that this wasn't every kid and there were those who were very polite and were watched closely by their parents, but they seemed few and far between and like someone said there was probably a lot of guilt by association going on too. It is a shame that a few could ruin it for so many. Really makes you wonder what their parents were doing and why the kids didn't seem to know how to follow the rules. Of course, they were probably the same people who didn't think that the dining room proper attire request for No shorts, please, applied to them.

Iso they just gave them all the same shirts the little kids get when they do the "graduation" show. LOL Needless to say the kids were not impressed with those shirts......
Samantha was THRILLED to get the shirt!! LOL! During Claire's *graduation* she had told us *I wish I could get one of those shirts in my size*. :) That night when she came in from the Stack she was very happy! LOL!!!!

*******************************************************
The only issue I had with the cruise was the kids (pre-teens & teens) that decided to roam our corridor hoping to *run* into Aly & AJ. I called several of them liars -- they tried to tell me that their rooms were on our corridor....*Really? Get out of here NOW.*
I've been a mom a long time and I don't put up with much. ;)

just finished reading! Thank you all for posting pics and links!!!!!

as for teens in the adult clubs, we only saw two incidences:

late one night a lady who had been dancing tried to escort a group of teens onto the dance floor and DJ Dan addressed it right away. He made it clear that they had the Stack - "or better yet, why weren't they in their staterooms in bed?".

another night Aly and AJ came in and a little later their dad tried to get some teen boys in. They were stopped at the door.

we were very thankful in both cases!:)

one other related story: the last night there were two grandparents in Mickey's Mates and they were relating what they clearly thought was a cute and endearing story. They started out by saying they took a picture of their 14 yr old grandson in bed every morning because that was all they saw of him. They went on to explain how the dear didn't come back to the stateroom until sometime between 2 and 9 am!!!! They were also quite proud to tell everyone in listening distance about the hickeys all over his neck!!! For those of us wondering for 15 days of this, what is wrong with some parents - this seemed the perfect example of what is wrong........FOURTEEN year olds allowed to roam the ship at all hours!!! I had read DCL had security out watching for them and would send them to their staterooms, but I clearly read wrong!!!

on a lighter note, we had an awesome time....would do it again in a heart beat!!!! :wizard:

I don't think there is anything wrong with having Aly & AJ in the adult areas, even if one is 17, due to the craziness they would encounter being in the kids pool. I heard kids walking the hallways looking for them every day from the time they came on the ship. This gave me a new understanding of why cruise lines do not have "really famous celebrities" onboard as entertainment. It is a headache for the cruise officers and security to keep everyone at bay. I have seen some celebrties cruising on NCL ships but they are in the garden villas and keep to the courtyard pool that is available only for suites so it is more of a controlled environment.

My DD didn't like most of the offerings at the stack and all the "good things", according to her, were late at night. We had a curfew for our kids, DS was in OQ, and only allowed them to stay out past that once because of something that was going on in the respective areas for their age group. I can't understand why they wouldn't have these things at say 10pm instead of midnight. The parents can still get time in the adult areas if they wish.

DD and DS both said that the game systems were always hogged by people and you couldn't even get on if they wanted to. The counselors didn't put any time limit on them. DS also said that he watched two kids break a game consol just because they could. He was upset by it because it meant one less game area that could be used to play. He also said that when him and his friends mentioned it to a counselors later on they basically just ignored it
and didn't even approach the kids that were breaking items

Elizabeth was thrilled with the shirt too!! She is a Senior this year so I guess it wasn't to childish for her. She loved that everyone signed the back and was so excited she wore it home. What a great souvenir.

Yes for the first time ever my two kid avoided the clubs rather than go to them, usually they are in there 9.00am to 11pm, sea days and you wouldn't get them out, this time because of the game console hogging and behavior of some kids in the clubs my two just stopped going.

My son went to Ocean Quest one morning and got on the simulator for just a minute or two, when he said an 'adult' pushed him off and said he was going on it. I did witness some bullying of my son in the goofy pool, so went in, and was going to speak to the child concerned, but he went off and attacked another kids in the pool, and their parents told him off.

Aly and AJ were next door to us so we had a lot of kids going up and down our deck knocking on our door as they knew the approximate location, Aly and AJ said in the concert the type of room they had to it narrowed it down to our deck,

Would Samantha like to have Ruby's? Seriously-would she like it? She can have it... Ruby is so not interested in having another one and won't ever wear it I'm sure... Samantha can totally have it! :) :)
(Ruby may have only been disappointed because she already has one from last cruise plus there was hype of people telling her it was to be a backpack- so when that didn't happen and instead getting a shirt she already had... not exactly excited about it. She wasn't upset about it though- just not EXCITED about it like she was about the bag she thought she'd be getting LOL)

You go girl! (about you not putting up with much! LOL)

Yep yep yep
Daughter felt the same way- all the good things were late at night... although she was perfectly fine with just wandering around with friends to find things to do during the day before the good things happened late at night-WE were the ones not happy about that. LOL

And my son said the same thing about the game systems and computers being hogged by people and so he got bored with that rather quickly- never getting to play is kinda boring, so I couldn't blame him. There was also a fair amount of bullying (verbal and physical) going on and the counselors did not notice it and/or ignored it... even after the issue was discussed with them by parents. :(

Elizabeth was thrilled with the shirt too!! She is a Senior this year so I guess it wasn't to childish for her. She loved that everyone signed the back and was so excited she wore it home. What a great souvenir.

Oh .. I see. Well Ruby was technically "grounded" that night and I only allowed her to go to the stack for a short time to get her "surprise farewell item" and get pictures and such -and I only allowed THAT because some girls came to her room begging that I let her go. So she must have came back to the room (since I only allowed her to go for a short time) before they started signing the shirts. I don't think she has any signatures on her shirt. I agree that would make it a much more "cool" souvenier to have the signatures of all her friends on it...
(ps. RUBY is the one that said that other kids weren't impressed with that gift.... so that has to be taken with a grain of salt. might have just been Ruby that wasn't excited about it. LOL)

We saw alot of bullying and just plain rude kids. DS was in the pool the first day at sea for about 5 minutes when he came out and said that two boys pushed him and kicked him in the stomach, cursed and said to get out of their way. They were brothers and not more then 10 years old. I went over to see who they were and they were out of the pool. Parents must have complained because after that date a cm was at the Goofy pool walking around the edge of it. We saw these same boys, DS pointed them out on the next day at sea again at the Gooy pool climbing up the poles on the sides of that deck with their parents sitting there watching them do this

A few evenings the kids attempted to play foosball and one kid kept running up to the tables and grabbing the ball and throwing them away from the table. On Pirate night DS tried to play with another DISr's daughter and the same kid came and did the same thing. He must have been around 7years old as he was pointed out to me by both kids later that night

Once DS figured out the kids that he should stay away from he just wouldn't go to the areas they were in.

I blame the kids but also blame the parents for allowing their kids to behave the way they do

I am just glad that my kids ended up making friends with kids that were well behaved and very nice and they did have a great time. The kids were all hugging on the last night and not wanting to say goodbye

Someone in the stack had her purse stolen on CC day and her mom and her were walking over to the teen area to see if they could find it. The girl was very upset as she had her passport, ipod and other items in there

This in no way ruined our cruise - we really did have a TOAL and would do it again in a heartbeat

Andrew it was a pleasure speaking with you and your children while waiting for the doors to open for the Aly & AJ show

I wanted to add that this behaviour was not the norm and not a daily occurance just what stuck out in my mind. Even the ST we encountered were polite. I hope that my ST was one of the polite ones any of you encountered ;) The teens we did see hanging out were just doing so out of boredom and not being disruptive

DS and KSDisneyDad's boys would sometimes sit in the chairs by deck 6 midship elevators because OQ had too many kids in it so they would sit there and play their gameboys.

We encountered one rude adult as we were doing the Pirate scavenger hunt put together by one of our Disers. One of the items was in the Cove Cafe and as we were walking through, very quickly I may add, one adult yelled out rudely that kids are not to be there and to get out. Now they weren't alone as I was with them but I didn't want to stoop to her level so I ignored it

It was very nice to meet you as well, before the show, and I am sorry your kids experienced the same issues as mine, particularly DS, with the bullying in the Goofy pool.

Kid behavior? Some of the worst I've seen.
I guess it's not surprising when you consider some of the adult behavior. When Tony was at the pirate party, he was standing up on a platform with several other people. There literally wasn't room for another body, yet a guy came up and literally PUSHED a woman out of the way! Actually put his hands on her! He told her that she had to give him her place because he was videotaping. Her husband saw what happened and hustled over. Words were exchanged, and security actually had to be called. At first the guy was playing the poor, wronged soul and the security person who came told the woman she should have given him her place! But the bystanders all stuck up for her and said what really happened. He was removed from the area, and a guard stayed behind to make sure he didn't return.

With adults like that, no wonder their kidlets are out of control too. We were very lucky not to see too much of the crazy kid behavior.

We did see some rude behaviour from some kids but it was far and few between as far as we experienced. Honestly with the exception of one incident in the goofy pool, bullying here too, I was suprised that we didn't encounter more. We did see kids hanging out both tweens and teens but they were in a group and just, well, hanging out. Not doing anything disruptive

My kids found most of the offerings in the stack and OQ to be lame so they didn't participate in much of it. They mostly used it as a place to meet their new found friends

We also did see the kids trying to climb the padded pole by the goofy pool and were amazed too that the parents just sat there and let them.

I think some of the adults were ruder then the kids. Like at the elevators where they wouldn't wait their turn and just jumped in instead of letting the people waiting get on first.

ITA! I was going to respond with this same comment! We were fortunate not to experience any elevator issues with kids but we seldom used the elevators. (We did see some boys get lectured by a counselor for sitting and riding the elevators only because they were the midship elevators and we saw it happened after checking our son into the Club.)

However, the few times we used the elevators (generally when returning from an excursion on Deck 1 or carrying "room service" back to our kids after eating breakfast at Topsiders) the adults behaved much worse than the kids.

Throughout the cruise, we experienced so much politeness and courtesy by other guests except when it came time to catch an elevator. It just seemed to bring out the worst in people as they just had to literally push their way through to catch an elevator even if there were others already waiting. It didn't even matter if you were standing aside to let someone off the elevator before entering.

Ours sons really miss hanging out with your DS!

How long did you wait for the Aly and AJ show? We saw that you were first in line for the late show while we were exiting the early show.

The boys had a great time with your son playing the Desperate Shipmates game even though it was "adults only". They actually solved it! However, when they weren't allowed in the theater for the final show, my DS just sat outside the door and cried! Why put an "adult only" game on the cabin tv's for kids to watch if they aren't allowed to play along. At least they got a free flashlight out of it once we escorted them into the final showing of Desperate Shipmates. They ended up talking to castmember David quite a while about it at Castaway Cay about his role in the show.

Everytime we came across your son and our boys at Deck 6, they were just sitting there peacefully at the little table playing their Nintendo DS's. However, we did ask the boys not to hang out on Deck 6 midship anymore after we saw other boys behaving poorly in the same spot. The other kids would jump into the glass as elevators passed by or were just plain loud and obnoxious. As I said before, it didn't distract from our overall enjoyment, but I think with 7 sea days we just seemed to see a lot more of it than we had on prior cruises.

Awesome picture! I went back to start at the beginning of the thread! There in front (just to the right of center between two poles) you can see our family in their black pirate T-shirts. My middle DS is sitting on the deck in front of my DW. You can barely see his Goofy sailor's hat. My oldest DS is standing next to me and my DW is turned slightly but I see her camera strap and we all have sunglasses. (My youngest got bored and went to play ping pong on the other side of the glass).

We saw the large group on-shore screaming something about taking the Disney Magic home. Was this where you were when you took the picture?
