Night John!

I'm following your lead....need to leave the house by 730am *ugh*

Meeting up w/ Jackie tomorrow night.

Nite all!

GoodNight John

GoodNight Monica....have a great time with Jackie. Take pics and post. Where's Peg?

:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

OK Woody and Monica....I may have to reconsider. Why did you pick Tortola instead of St. Croix? Just curious. I thought that St. Croix would be bigger and it's part of St. Thomas and St. John, which I love both. I don't know anything about Tortola.
Always wanted to visit the British Virgin Islands.

Not sure if Peg will be there tomorrow night or not...I hope so, but not sure.

I'm really leaving now!!

It's a regular public school. There has been no talk about an IEP. I did provide the school with the detailed report from his neuropsych evaluation that gives lots of info on what he needs and the report even recommends some sort of special education classes. I'm just not sure who to talk to at the school. I guess I'll start with his teacher. I also don't think they should be able to just keep suspending him when they're aware of the steps we're taking to get things figured out. I've kept the teachers and school counselor apprised every step of the way. Thanks for offering. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, but don't go out of your way to try to get answers when I know you have to pack and take care of your own affairs before your vacation. :goodvibes

Thanks Noel! :goodvibes Will definitely check them out tomorrow. Can't keep my eyes open any longer tonight.

Thanks Monica....I know you're right too.....It's definitely for the best! I just can't help but thinking that because Joe can't control us, he wants to keep Sandi away from us. That to me says guilty as accused! What I worry about even more, is that as the kids get older....if he can no longer control them, he will keep Sandi away from them too. And I know she will do it because he will convince her that it's them and not him. He already did this when Tom had to go to boot camp. Joe got up in Tom's face literally while he was sleeping and screamed at him at the top of his lungs and Tom punched him. Joe was wrong for doing this and Tom suffered the consequences. We told Sandi that Joe was wrong and Tom should not have to pay for Joe's actions. She never went against Joe, even for her own kids. That scares me!

Sounds like Sandi may be a victim of domestic abuse if only verbal and emotional. How very, very sad!! We had some of this going on in DH's family at one point. She had stayed with the husband and they have a very disfuctional marriage.

I would call it abuse of a kind because she doesn't have any control over her own life or her kids. What he says - Gos! The saddest part is that she doesn't even see it. She thinks she is happy!

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Deb... sorry you are going through all this during the holidays. Sounds like you and John have a perfect Christmas planned though!

Holly... sorry to hear that Tyler is still having a hard time. I am a bit shocked that no one has mentioned IEP's to you in his school. I regularly help my patients get IEP's going in their schools (getting the district to follow them is a total different story) and it really helps the kids. I would call his doctor (probably the one in your building) to ask where to start.

V....I second Frontline.Works great. I am originally from the town next to Old Lyme, CT where Lyme's Disease got it's name, so ticks were pretty common in my childhood. Frontline is the best for ticks and fleas.

OK Woody and Monica, I'll get an additional quote from DU for Tortola. I have heard many good things about BVI as well. So let's check them out too.....especially if I have friends booked already on that cruise!

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Okay - quick post and I have to go back to voting! My DS is up for Fan of the Month for the San Jose Sharks. If you have a moment, can you check out the site and vote for him? His name is Jack. Do you think it would be tacky to put a post in the main cruise board? Maybe my fellow DISers can help get him voted! Since you can vote multiple times, it might be hard for us to compete with the college age ones. Thanks all,

Thank you! I'll definitely get the ball rolling on something this week since I'm 1/2 days the rest of the week. Plenty of time to bug that school like crazy! :rotfl:

In the meantime, I'll be really upset if they call me tomorrow to come pick him up and they suspend him.

voted....what a cutie! :thumbsup2

Noel, I checked out that link and will be reviewing info there often. I like the sample letters they have. Very handy! All great stuff. From my brief skimming of their info, in my bleary eyed state, it seems to me that since Tyler was already evaluated & assessed (but by the neuropsych, not the school), and her evaluation report has a section with recommendations to the school saying that he would likely benefit from some special ed help, I think all I would need to do is request that the school come up with an IEP. But because I'm half asleep and not thinking clearly, I'll let John clarify that for me tomorrow. :thumbsup2

I LOVE having so many brains to pick here! Everybody has such varied background and experience and education, etc. Very helpful!
