You know, I was thinking the same thing, but the only way to do that would be to put him in a morning K class. Not sure if that would work because he might be doing the same material twice (morning and then again in afternoon). I plan on talking to his teachers tomorrow and see what they think.

Just be aware that if he does do everything 2x, he may get bored so it may not help too much.

Deb,

My sister is attracted to these same types. Does not matter what you say to her. Does not matter how many of them she has been with or married. She seems to always need a man in her life, and they are always a controlling type. I gave up long ago - after the second divorce. I accepted that I can't change her personality, or her wishes. It is really hard, but what can you do?

I can't imagine what John is going through though - a sister is one thing - a daughter would be even harder. Sorry to hear this.

Thanks John....I see you fully understand and you're right, you just have to accept it. But it's so hard to watch day to day....and I'm sure, even harder for John because it's his daughter.

:sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

So DD Sandi called last night to say that she has an interview on Dec. 28 and that she and the family will not be in PA for Christmas. They will be leaving earlier to go to FL.

I can't help but think that she told Joe everything we said to her and now they don't want to share Christmas and they're leaving early intentionally.

I've got mixed emotions. I'll miss Sandi and the boys terribly. I will be so happy not to have to deal with Joe anymore and not to have to see how he treats Sandi and the boys.

I actually think it might be best for all if they just leave and then I don't have to be an actress in front of Joe. I hate being a hypocrit. I really distain him and I don't feel like that about many people. I always try to find some good in them, but I feel like he's almost "cultist" with her. She will ignore all his shortcomings and make excuses for him. She almost worships him instead of having a healthy partnership. It's 100% his way and she has to do without. Then she tells us she's extremely happy about it. Go figure. Love is blind.

So John and I will go to our hotel on Christmas eve and not rush home in the morning to see them. When we get home we'll do dinner for us and the kid and Ray and open our presents on Christmas Day, which I have never done before.

:hippie: :hippie: :hippie:
Deb, I'm sorry things turned out this way with Sandi and Joe. :sad1: But I think you're right and things will be better this way. You'll have a stress-free Christmas and can completely act yourself and not have to please them. :thumbsup2

Holly,

I can't remember, but is the school of choice a regular public, or a charter school? Have you talked to the school about an IEP (individualized education plan) for Tyler since he is being assessed, and obviously needs some special attention? In a public school, the law would require they come up with an IEP to help him - not just suspend him.

If you want, I can discuss this with some friends who develop IEP's for students in our district and see what their thoughts are - leaving for WDW on Thursday, but I will see what I can find out if you would like.
It's a regular public school. There has been no talk about an IEP. I did provide the school with the detailed report from his neuropsych evaluation that gives lots of info on what he needs and the report even recommends some sort of special education classes. I'm just not sure who to talk to at the school. I guess I'll start with his teacher. I also don't think they should be able to just keep suspending him when they're aware of the steps we're taking to get things figured out. I've kept the teachers and school counselor apprised every step of the way. Thanks for offering. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, but don't go out of your way to try to get answers when I know you have to pack and take care of your own affairs before your vacation. :goodvibes

Very true. :guilty: I only work until 12:30 the rest of the week, so I'm hoping to be able to get an appointment to talk with somebody at school, whoever that may be, if that person has time either tomorrow or Thurs or Fri to talk about what we should do.

what the heck...at Tebow's appt on Friday the dog in front of us had three ticks, ok we were in the same exam room. THe next day, the groomer pulled a tick off Tebow - tonight I noticed what I thought was a clump of hair and pulled it off and it had legs...I am looking up ticks now, but have never ever dealt with ticks nor seen one...he was bleeding so I am assuming it was a tick.
I don't know what to do now.

Believe it or not, I have a school board meeting tomorrow at noon. I'll see if I can get any advice.

Deb and John - I know this hurts, but maybe it's for the best. You are going to be under enough stress with Christmas w/o your mom.....now you have 1 less thing to worry about (acting ok in front of Joe). :grouphug: s to both of you.

Thanks Monica....I know you're right too.....It's definitely for the best! I just can't help but thinking that because Joe can't control us, he wants to keep Sandi away from us. That to me says guilty as accused! What I worry about even more, is that as the kids get older....if he can no longer control them, he will keep Sandi away from them too. And I know she will do it because he will convince her that it's them and not him. He already did this when Tom had to go to boot camp. Joe got up in Tom's face literally while he was sleeping and screamed at him at the top of his lungs and Tom punched him. Joe was wrong for doing this and Tom suffered the consequences. We told Sandi that Joe was wrong and Tom should not have to pay for Joe's actions. She never went against Joe, even for her own kids. That scares me!

Actually, John, I think the way the school can keep suspending him is because the suspension is only from the morning program, which isn't tecnically kindergarten. It's called KAP (kindergarten activities program) and is meant to be more like a free day care type setting with a bit of K learning thrown in.

it is so wild to see 09 threads starting!! So far, I am not going to book. If I win the lotto maybe.

We booked that one.

Woody

OK Woody and Monica....I may have to reconsider. Why did you pick Tortola instead of St. Croix? Just curious. I thought that St. Croix would be bigger and it's part of St. Thomas and St. John, which I love both. I don't know anything about Tortola.

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Oh no! How awful! I'd call the vet in the morning and see what they say. Poor puppy! :sad1:

I've heard really great things about the BVI so figured I'd jump at the chance to see one of those islands. I've been to St Thomas (less than 24hrs) and St John (3 days) so wanted to do BVI.

Get Frontline. You put it on once a month and it really works. Gandlaf and Angel both had ticks....I'm in the woods....and when I keep it on every month of the year....I'll find maybe one tick every Summer. If I don't use it, I get lots of ticks.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
