Okay ladies, here is the next item in my Knock-Off Boutique. :rolleyes1 The original was posted by obsessedwiththemouse. I have to give a big thanks to everyone for sharing their ideas and pictures. I'm not very good at coming up with my own designs but that is my next challenge. I plan to brainstorm tomorrow while I tackle that 12 hour shift.

The Minnie ears look a little warped in the picture but that's just how the dress is hanging. I wish I could post pics of DD in the outfit but I've promised DH I would not post pics of the kids anymore.

That is so cute!

I mark half way and quarterway marks on my fabrics that I am joining, that way, they match and the gathers are even. Patterns tell you to make a point on the edges of the fabric; I use a fabric pen. Like a wash-away pen, or a disappearing pen. Good luck!

im still confused. do i pin the two fabrics (that im joining) together at half and quarter marks, then pull the strings to gather?

This is one that I'm working on now too, but I ran out of fusible web and stabilizer, at the same time... So I have to run to my favorite place, :lmao: Walmart :sad2: tomorrow.

That is my favorite! Glad you decided to make another one of these :goodvibes . I will be bidding on it.

dumb computer acting weird! anyway, lady rob-LOVE this outfit!!!!! AWESOME job! and i love the name of your store- knockoff boutique!:rotfl: where did you find the fabric with the flower? i have all of the others (minnie twirl skirt in the works) but i love the flower fabric!

I think it is so funny that this thread is moving so fast. To read here you would think that every kid who goes to Disney has a closet full of custom Disney clothes! I was in Disneyland last week and I did not see one single custom/homemade outfit in the entire 5 days I spent at the parks! I see them at Disneyworld from time to time, but not once in Disneyland. I was really surprised. I was hoping that I would see something that had been posted here so I could ask the mom about it.

Thanks for all the compliments everyone! Now I'm off to see what I can do with this Friends Around the World fabric. Any ideas?

dopeysgirl, the flowers are all appliqued.

We should have a custom/boutique Disers meeting at WDW. We could all plan to meet for a special meal. I'm sure our little ones would get major attention in a group.;)

Dena -

I love your JoJo outfit. Is the top based on a commercial pattern or is it something you created yourself? It looks like a great versatile pattern.

Tammy

Hi Tammy, it is a pretty versatile pattern, unfortunately it is one I sketched out. I am pretty sure there are similar patterns like it out there, I will do a search and post back in a minute!

LadyRob, that Minnie outfit is adorable! I think you did a great job, I like the word Minnie on the top better than the original. No offense to the person who made the original, they are both darling!

Does anyone see any treasure map/pirate themed fabric on hancocks website?

We could get technical and call it a Convention of Custom/Boutique DISers and write off all of our trip expenses!!!

I am officially hooked! I made my first boutique bows tonight and they look AWESOME!!!! Now if I could just learn to applique!:goodvibes

I've never seen anything on Hancock's, but I do know that Joanns has some. My mom found the one in my signature online, and I know that she's making some pirate Mickey outfits and she found another website that carries the fabric. If that's something that you're looking for, let me know, and I can ask her where she got it.

There's some on eBay too.
