Here you go....
Day 6 Wednesday 28th June MGM
We were a little sore this morning but DS was fine, after having a cooked breakfast in the food court we soon got ready and walked to the bus stop for about 9.15 am. Soon got through the gates, honestly the security checks took hardly any time Again we went to Star Tours and this time we sat in the front row seats it seemed like a new experience that close up. The motion range seemed bumpier than from the back row on our last encounter, it was still a great ride. There was a mum with three young sons further up the row who looked a little worried about how her boys would react but they loved it too. Then we walked across to the Muppets 3D show and this time it was busier.I used the pre-show time to really get a good look around the room while we waited to go in there's some good props and stuff from the films and the show there. Thinking of our sunburn we opted to go on the Backlot Tour next and strangely some of the effects were not working today in the area where they re-create the Pearl Harbour attack which was a bit disappointing for guests who have never seen it. We love that bit of the tour it gives you an appreciation for the craft of film making and special effects creations. At least the weather was holding up so we went over to the trams and enjoyed the backlot we love the Catastrophe Canyon and all the workings behind the results. It always catches people out who have no idea what's coming
After a brief walk though the exhibits on the way out we realised we didn't have a show schedule how naughty of us to forget one So off I went to find a CM and luckily found one (Elaine) and asked when the next Lights Motors Action show was due to start. She said the first one for the day was in about an hour and gave us a copy of the show schedule. We thanked her and had a look at the rest of the show times and took a couple of photos and then headed in to the Animation show this year it's about Reme and the film Ratatouille.
From there we headed back to LMA There was no seats left on the lower levels and a section was roped off and marked reserved. We had to by-pass it and made our way up to a higher row to find seats. It was very hot up there even with the fans on (in the roof) pointing over the heads of everyone seated it didn't help much. Thank goodness we took bottled water in with us we were melting just sat there before the show began. While we waited we noticed folks walking slowly around at the back of the show area. I wondered what they were doing and then it became apparent they were a private tour group being escorted across. Some of them were very heavy and took ages to get across the stage and up the steps to their seats. Eventually they were sat down and the show began, it was a different crew to the one we had watched on the previous Friday but they put everything into their performances even the girl on the motorbike at the finish was outstanding.
We love the show and always try to see it butI think it's a pity that it took so much space from the Backlot Tour, but hey we can't have everything there's only so much space to use.
Lunch time had passed but we were not hungry our breakfast had filled us up so we decided to have an afternoon snack Mickey Premium Ice Creams for us and an Itsakadoozie for DS. The cart was not far from The Great Movie Ride so we found a shady corner near Brown Derby to eat our ice creams and relax. After a quick break to clean our hands we went into TGMR and waited in line for what seemed like forever but was actually only about 20 mins. DS found someone's glasses on the rope so I hung on to them until we got to a CM when I haded them over and explaied where they had been found no doubt they would be missed. When we finally got on board of the vehicle it broke down and after 3 attempts none of the CMs could get it moving They had to call someone and get it emptied of us guests and they had to push it away!! So there we were still waiting and who walks by but another Dream Squad CM with a full black bag and we were left wondering what was going on. Finally we had another vehicle and boarded and pulled away only to get stopped by the bit with the syncronized swimmers for a while. Then we were away again off to the bit with the gangsters were, we didn't stop until we reached the bank hold-up where I don't recall the bank exploding in flames " honey umm I think we've got version B" I said to DH as our CMs changed over and we carried on. It was still enjoyable just different. Content with that we decided to go into the "Sounds Dangerous" show which DS has never experienced before and we have not done for years. It was nice and cool and very dark in there but a very good show it made us all laugh. We stepped out into the sun again and had a browse through the shops and saw more Dream Squad members about but they did not appear to be doing anything.
Another observation we saw lots of photopass photographers on this trip but not many of them were keen to take photos of people, which is defeating the object of employing them in the first place.
So DH decided to take some more photos and while we were on our way down passed ABC Commissary we noticed Mike and Sully DS wanted his photo with them and so did I so we waited in line. The CM at the front told everyone (I loved this bit) to put their autograph books away they wouldn't get them signed because monsters hate paperwork. You could only get a picture with them. There were a few tantrums ahead of us but everyone accepted it or left. Then Mike and Sully took a quick break to go to the Laugh Floor at MK we were told by the CM and after 5 mins they were back and we soon got our photo done. It was so much quicker than if they were doing autographs as well as photos, the line whizzed along in no time at all.
We had done everything we had planned to do except for our dinner ADR at Sci-Fi Dine-in at 5.15 pm. I thought it might be worth trying to check in early it was 4.45 pm anyway so only half an hour before our slot. So up to the podium I went . They couldn't find our ressie it's just as well I wrote down the numbers when I called Disney Dining weeks ago. Ahhh they said we have your name spelled differently on the computer but yes that's your number alright take a seat we'll call you. So we waited lucky for us we were indoors so we were out of the sun. We sat there for the full half hour all the while other guests tried to get a slot for dinner that night and every single one of them was turned away. They were fully booked up to 10 pm.We were called and seated within a few minutes of our time slot so no complaints from us. the place was very clean and very authentic our servers were Amy and Patrick they were fab We all shared the front seat of the car, another family had the back two rows, Ds was our driver
DH and I slit a starter of onion rings he also had a "Blue Glow-tini" drink and I had a "Space Monkey" both very good drinks DS had a Sprite . Our main courses were a barbeque chicken sandwich no cheese for DH and for me a Caesar Salad with chicken, both were great. DS had the kids hot dog meal with fries and grapes. For dessert we ordered chocolate sundaes DH's was a complimentary one from the staff to celebrate his birthday he also got a card from the servers and we each got a "driving license' too but DS had to promise he would only drive that we were in and no others By then it was getting late and we were very stuffed so we wandered back to the bus stop to get back to our room for a quick cup of hot chocolate and then bed happy and content. Tomorrow still to come MK.
