Hello all!

I'm doing some online shopping for comfortable clothes for the park, yet presentable enough to eat at some signature restaurants which we are heading to directly. I will be going in October

I am thinking of wearing skorts with pockets (kind of like a tennis skirt/skort, has anyone tried Halara?) for comfort, moisture-wicking, and in a dark color so it looks "more formal" as well. On more casual days, perhaps comfy leggings/tights like those from GAP or lululemon.

Shoes-wise, I just ordered a pair of Hoka Solimans, which hopefully are comfy, which not having a huge thick rubber outsole. I heard great things about Brooks and On Running as well. What do you wear for those 20k step days?

Finally for a bag, I used to carry crossbodies, but am considering a fanny pack. Does your tummy get sweaty behind the fanny?

Hats are a must I think, I'm thinking of wearing a straw hat with ears. Would you bring a poncho for end of October?

What do you wear to the parks? Is there any item that you swear by?

Thanks for your help!

Last trip I took several linen dresses and loved wearing them, so easy and comfortable. I also wear a lot of All Birds shoes, not a heavy-duty athletic shoe by any means, but enough support to make it thru a full park day.

I was thinking of wearing dresses as well. Does it fly up on any of the rides? Would it work for TRON? That's the main reason I am doing a skort vs. a skirt :P

I bought Skecher sandals (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072T3X3F2/) last fall and used them on 3 trips (November, December & March). They've served me very well and I will definitely use them in August when I go again. They especially came in handy in November when it rained a LOT. It was so nice not to have to walk around in soggy socks & shoes.

I live in t-shirts, skorts, and Tevas in the parks. Though last summer I got Croc scandals that don't look like the clog style at all and those have become my new fave. I switch shoes after our midday breaks. Occasionally I'll wear shorts, but I got a bunch of Athleta skorts on clearance a while back that are really comfy. Moisture wicking and breathable.

I wear Dress Shop dresses as well, with slip shorts underneath. Wore my Maleficent dress on Tron even with no issues--I wear those dresses in the evenings though, when we go back out after the afternoon rain storms.

After years of wearing Crocs sandals (with blisters upon blisters) I switched to the sandals you linked above, after reading recommendations here. Oh am I glad I did!!! Zero blisters (even in the rain) and much happier feet!! One day with those shoes and I never looked back!!! (Well, I tried one day and paid the price)

I highly endorse the sandals linked above!

Tank top or sleeveless maxi dresses and usually Teva Mush and OluKai Paniolo flip flops. My back is a "disaster", my docs word, and I walk in these for hours with no pain.

Usually capris and a t-shirt because I get cold inside, but if it’s going to be really hot then dresses. That’s all I’ve packed for my trip next week. Just comfortable simple dresses that can be dressed up or down depending on accessories. I’ve got a couple of basic cotton maxi style ones from Old Navy and a sleeveless linen one. I love the linen. It’s so light and breezy.

Just wear bike shorts or slip shorts underneath
Yes, this. I wear dresses with biker shorts underneath. Then no worry about blowing up.

Yes, I have these and absolutely love them. They are so comfortable. Definitely recommend. I’m taking mine.

I also have a pair of keen hiking sandals, and they are more comfortable than the Sketchers. Plus, they are made to get soaked where the Sketchers aren’t.

I loved my sandal crocs. They were great for water, but now that I’m older, I just can’t wear them. They tear my feet up.

For the hotter summer visits I'll do a halara style dress but the kind that only the shorts come down for the restroom. If you go with something like that you don't want to have to take the whole dress off, especially if you're sweaty. The moisture wicking fabric is nice and breathable. And dries so fast it's great if you get caught in the rain. The tennis skirts with the shorts/pockets are great. I have the copycat lulu align skirts from amazon and they're really comfortable. I'll do that with a cute align top and I'll also do the lilly lux fabric tennis dresses. Those are really breathable and can be a little dressier. I will do running shorts with built in bottoms on more casual days. Also with the align type tops. It's just nice to not worry about undergarments or anything when you are dressed to work out. Which after all the sweating and steps, you essentially are lol

I'd personally pass on leggings/tights in august but I know some people have to for rashes/sun exposure but the idea of wearing leggings in August sounds brutal. For shoes, I either wear reef flip flops or reef water vistas for something "dressier". They're great for when it rains since they're waterproof, and for me, surprisingly comfortable. The velcro strap is great too so you don't have to worry about losing a shoe. Whatever shoe you end up going with, you just need to wear the heck out of it before you take them to Disney to ensure they're good on your feet. Everyone may swear up and down that a certain shoe or style is comfortable but everyone's feet are totally different. Whatever you do, don't wear anything brand new, that's the kiss of foot death! I have done backbacks and fanny packs. Backpacks can be hot in the summer so I will do a fanny pack and it doesn't get hot at all. I was contemplating some other style dresses for my next visit and really you can't go wrong with most since you can just wear some shorty shorts under anything.

I'm so boring! I live in biker shorts, oversized disney t shirts, sneakers in the park during the day, and then at night (usually if we're headed to a resort restaurant/disney springs) I'll switch to jean shorts and a nicer top or the very rare sundress and sandals.

Oh, forgot about bags. I’ve always done small crossbody bags in the past. I need my hands free and like something I can keep on when I sit to eat or go on rides.

This year I realize I need more space, so I got a sling bag. I’ve been trying it out the last few days, and I think I’m going to really like it. I can pull it around to the side to get in and out of it without having to take it off, and I’m hoping it will work to pull it around on the side to ride as well. I debated a mini backpack, but I don’t want to have to take anything off as I know I’ll loose it eventually that way.

I have a lot of Disney shirts so I pair those with either yoga pants or skorts. I used to wear sandals until one year a big guy stepped on my foot at Disneyland and broke my toe. Lesson learned. No more open toed shoes. I also used to do a crossbody bag. Never did find one I liked and always had a sore shoulder by the end of the day. Now I do a hip bag (alright, a fanny pack lol) and I love that.

My niece calls her bag “my booty bag” 😆

Bike shorts under a dress or with a tank top/tshirt.

Comfortable tennis shoes.

Loungefly or other backpack.

I do want to maybe buy a couple skorts before the next trip just to make my outfits a little cuter. We shall see.

Highly advise a stop by your resort to freshen up. August is beyond brutal, you practically start sweating as soon as you hit the outside. You are gonna want fresh clothes to dine in if going to a signature restaurant at a resort. The great part about resort ADRs is rideshares can drop you off at that resort since you have an ADR- meaning transportation from your resort to that one can be quick (and air conditioned).

While this advice is a 'nice to have' it's in no way a necessity even in August. The option is not always there to return to a resort to change or afford private transportation to an ADR. We have often gone from a park to an ADR many times and been just fine.

OP shared they will be going directly from a park to an ADR.

Start with Body Glide on any skin surface that is subject to rubbing or sweat.

Duluth Trading bottoms - Armachillo boxers and Armachillo 10" cooling shorts. Super lightweight and help keep the swampy feeling down in an area really subject to rubbing. If I go back to the hotel, mid-day change of boxers, but will keep the shorts (unless they are wet).

Duluth Trading sweat-wicking sports bra (sense a trend here?) and one of my Disney t-shirts. I carry a cooling towel to use later in the day for my neck.

I swear by my Brooks sneakers (two pair - I change during the mid-day break) and Bombas socks (also changed during mid-day break). I put athletic tape on any area of the foot that may be subject to rubbing to keep hot spots and blisters at bay.

Yesterday I did a marathon day at Epcot...rope drop to fireworks...so didn't make the mid-day changes, but the gear still worked just great.

Ive never worn sandals at the park. I had this misconception that the straps would dig in after time. Glad to see this as another option!
