@geekbri - If properly done, sounds like a TERRIFIC idea!!I thought it would be neat if they were holding something to find a new captain and they were saying "we wants the red head". As in they want her to be their new captain. Keeps the famous line but turns a potential negative into a positive.
"PC" people weren't even complaining about it though. It seems like Disney just decided to change it. Just because people are okay with it doesn't mean you need to insult people who are socially conscious. At this point, how much longer will the PC people allow them to even call it "Pirates" of the Caribbean? Before long it'll be "Nasty Criminals on the High Seas of the Caribbean". It's just getting to be beyond ridiculous.
I raise a toast to your comment be it rum or what ever be your preference.I'll be the first to say that I am getting really tired of all of the PC stuff in this country and the Wuss-ification of America.
But the ride changing will not make me hate it.
If anything it's a new twist that'll make the lines even longer than they already are......argghhh!!!
"I gotta see what this new scene looks like...what's all the fuss about?"
In the end, POTC ride will still smell the same, still have the same feel to it, still be animatronic awesomeness...
So while the PC crap has gotten annoying....I'll still be in line to see one of my favorite rides.
He's not spongin' for rum. It be gold he's after!I raise a toast to your comment be it rum or what ever be your preference.
Hmmm...
Interesting twist popped into my heard here.
Disney never said that it was changing the scene to be politically correct. Instead, it said that they were re-imagining it and "a familiar character is playing a new role." Could it be that the media outlets and fans are making this a PC change? Could Disney just want to expand the storyline a bit with the change?
I think it could be both. Disney had an idea for changing pirates up a bit and this change "killed two birds with one stone". I think this could lead to potential red head merchandise and such since she is in an expanded role.Hmmm...

I think they could expand that even further with this.I already saw some merch for her when I was there two weeks ago. She was in her original form though, not as a pirate.
