Villa booked, now car questions

Hello everyone, we are arriving on a Saturday (3/17/18) and taking the shuttle, how will the traffic be? We are renting a car from Alamo @ Aulani, does anyone know what time they open? Curious, as I'm reading about rush hour starting at 6am, should we consider renting the night before to get an early start? Not worried about parking fee we are DVC members THANK YOU in advance for your recommendation

Have you looked into daily rentals? Just taking it out for one day and then bringing it back so you’re not parking anything overnight.

If the OP rents a car for more than one day in a row (like renting for Sun and Mon returning Tues), they will be charged the parking fee each day. But you are correct in that if they take it out for the day, then have valet return the car, they won't be charged parking. So many guests think they can rent a car for several days in a row and think they can avoid the parking fee if they return it each night.

Wondering why you're not renting a car at the airport (since you don't have to pay for parking)? It's usually cheaper than renting at Aulani (more competition).

Good question; our package includes free transfers from the AP to Aulani and back plus 2 free days of car rental. we are looking at 2 additional days of rental as we're there for 8 days and don't want to have a car every day.

we have looked at daily rentals, but not knowing when they open is the issue? We are very early birds and would like to get out before the rush hour in the morning.

Does this mean you have a cash reservation and not a DVC points reservation? Just want to check because I think the free parking is tied to how you booked it (cash vs points) and not so much the DVC membership itself. For example, someone renting points and not a DVC member would still get the free parking.

They open at 7 am. :) Traffic should be okay on weekends.
