Universal Hollywood Planning questions

My wife and I are planning to visit Universal Hollywood Dec 24th and 25th before leaving on a cruise on the 26th.

I noticed that Universal doesn't appear to have 2 day tickets anymore, and based on the days that we want to go, it will cost $129/day, and $258 for the two days. Are 2-day tickets available at the park? I couldn't help but notice that a Gold Pass is $279 and that the 24th and 25th aren't blackout dates. I also notice that the Gold pass entitles holders to buy friends and family tickets at a discounted rate. Does anyone have experience doing this? How much would I save per day on her tickets if I bought a Gold pass? Is it possible for a day to become sold out and not eligible for purchase?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
