Summer fun. Hopefully

We will be skipping Wonderland this summer. But I will say that we did get a season's pass a couple summer's ago (i.e. 2019 before the pandemic) and went quite often to the waterpark. It's pretty good. With a pass, it was easy to go just for a couple hours on a summer afternoon.

For those going to Wonderland next month, they will most likely be busier then they are now. Going by phase 3 of reopening amusement parks are allowed 75% capacity. Hopefully that means the can fill more seats on rides too.

Am I the only person ok with not filling more seats? I’m not ready yet to sit side by side with total strangers.. we have fastlane but I think the littles and I will be lucky if make it half day if people are acting like they did at calypso yesterday

I think you will be fine. They have done a great job with social distancing at Wonderland.

As far as filling every row, what I think will change is instead of putting people in every 2nd row they will do every row. In each row it will only be your group. Doubtful you would be sitting with strangers.

Just a heads up for those going to Wonderland. I would suggest buying Fastlane. I went Monday and most rides were 2 hour waits. With them cleaning the rides every hour and only half filling them lines move very slowly.

Do you happen to remember what places to eat were open (or which were closed)? And are all the refreshments places where you can use the drink wristbands open?

A lot of the places were closed same with refreshments. They are having a hard time finding enough workers. Its like that every where it seems.

I tried to look at the wait times for Wonderland on the app, but it seems they will only tell you if you're in the park. Are there other sites that accurately post this information as well?

Weekends expect 2 hour waits on the big rides from mid afternoon on. I suggest either buy Fastlane or get there early if possible

Thank you for the info. We're planning to go 1 Friday in July (only managed to get 11am entry) and a few days in August. It's really hard to plan knowing you can only reserve two days at a time. I have 1 day right now reserved in August. As soon as we go in July I'll reserve another. We were hoping to go 3 or four times in the same week for our August vacation, but if the trend continues from what I see in July, there's no way that we will be able to obtain another reservation for the same week as the one we have now 1-3 days out. We'll get Fastlane 1-2 times between however many days we manage to go.

Well, we are back home and here's the rundown:
- Traffic was bad heading over. We come from the east, and they are doing some work at Major Mack and Yonge that slows everything down, so we got to the park around 9:45 for our 9:30 entry. Not a big deal, since the park hadn't opened yet.
- Parking was easy. Same old routine for me - scan the season pass (I have a parking add-on) and go park.
- Only the south end was available. I prefer parking on the north end (closer to Major Mack) but because of the aforementioned construction I decided to take 16th Ave, so it worked out better for me anyway.
- No prescreening, just people making sure you've reserved a park time.
- Entry was faster than in 2019. Less people, of course, and the procedure really hasn't changed from before. All that's changed is the social distancing lines, hand sanitizer and plexiglass

- Normally we hit Thunder Run first. We decided to try Leviathan as we had no idea what was in store for us. Younger one opted out of this.
- App is useless for wait times. Throughout the day it showed The Bat as having a 5 minute wait, which I don't think is ever true, even at rope drop.
- They were running one row per car, which no doubt slowed things down. Took nearly an hour to get on. Never managed to get a good look at the cleaning procedure, but it looks as if they run the cars a certain number of times, then spray them down, and do a riderless run before admitting riders again.
- There's a Fastlane kiosk right outside of Leviathan, and that probably contributed to things being a bit slower, because if you got FastLane+ why wouldn't you hit one of the three "+" rides if it's right there?
- Wilde Beast was next. Younger one rode this. About a 15 minute wait.
- Kids opted to eat Subway after this. Lukewarm take: don't let your kids eat Subway and Canada's Wonderland. I thought the Pizza Pizza markup was ridiculous. I remember the McDonalds and SkyDome markup was ridiculous. But Subway is even worse. $20 for a footlong... yikes.
- Went on the Fly after this. About a 30 minute wait.
- Did Minebuster next. Another 30 minute wait. There was some light rain at this time. Rain and high speed coasters - not a good idea. Feels like needles stabbing your eyes.

- Kids were tired after this (I told them they won't survive WDW with that level of endurance), so we called it a day. It rained hard once we left, so felt ok about leaving.

- Mask report: I would say that the majority of people were wearing masks at all recommended times. Some people were not wearing the masks while walking, and more than a few had the masks off or not covering anything while in a line that didn't wind around. Not ideal, but almost everyone was respecting the distance markers, so not enough reason to raise a fuss imo.

Overall, we did 4 coasters in 4 hours. I think the wait times were longer than what we experienced in 2019, but not so long that you're swearing off going to the park. I will now concede that if you're planning on riding the Big 3, there is value in getting FastLane+. FastLane is a slightly different story as you need to review the rides and determine how many you'd actually go on. I think we tallied 4 or 5 so the value wasn't there for us.

We have Aug 21 booked for SplashWorks. That will most certainly have bigger crowds by then, so we'll see how things work out.

Thanks for all the details. I splurged on the fastlane+ when we go in August, having never been and intending to only do this once I wanted to make sure we could do as much as possible. Kiddo is very excited but I think when he sees some rides in person he may change his mind. We got the meal and drinks for the day, so I am guessing at those prices it will be worth it for us.

Thank you such much for the detailed report. Just a little more than a week until our first trip to Wonderland. Kids are super excited.

I will say that I have noticed that more people are going to regional parks more then before. I belong to a Cedar Point Facebook group and the amount of first timers is amazing. As a guy who loves amusement parks it's great to see so many first timers. I also see a lot of Disney fans giving these parks a chance.

Since we'll be at Wonderland, and staying in Vaghaun (sp?) a couple nights, I think there is a biggish mall there? Anything good? I haven't been to a mall in close to two years now... but since it'll be August that is almost back to school shopping time and might be fun if there are any good stores. Disney fans of course, but also kiddo loves sports so anything that sells Jersey's or really anything like that? I think I saw they have a Disney store (not sure if it's still open?) and a Lids which sells sports stuff.

The Vaughn Mills outlet is literally across the street from Wonderland. We love going there. Definitely check it out, if only for the Disney outlet. There is also a huge Toys R Us and a Lego Discovery Centre. https://www.vaughanmills.com/
