Stay in La Jolla or Del Mar or Oceanside?

Last summer we did a package through the Grand Pacific Palasaides resort in Carlsbad.

We got 4 legoland tickets and 2 nights at the resort for about $199 a night (considering we'd have spent 200+ on legoland tickets this was great).

The hotel was nice, has a great pool and you can walk to lego land and drive about 5 minutes to the beach.

We did have to commit to the time share stuff...but that only took 5 minutes as they didn't want to mess with people who weren't truly interested. Loved that they had a "kids club" type area for the kids as well.

They also have packages for the hotel and the zoo/sea world etc...

you should check it out--it's their "HOT DEALS" on their website.

Did you stay in a hotel room or in a condo? Did you like your room?

We had a great time. The Sheraton Carlsbad Resort was beautiful and new. Our room was large with a big bathroom -- roomy enough for everyone to get ready in the morning. The fitness room was fabulous with all the newest equipment. The pool and hot tub was nice enough, but for a resort, they really need to put something more there to make the pool more exciting -- maybe a 25-ft slide? Right now, it's really kind of blah. The restaurant is in a word -- EXPENSIVE. We had breakfast there for our first morning out of sheer convenience, but never went there again. It was of good quality food but just not worth the $$$.

Because we were so tired (from our jobs before the trip) and from running around Disneyland all day with the kids, we limited our excursions this year. We just spent a day at Legoland, one day at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, visiting our friends in Carlsbad, shopping at the Carlsbad Premium Outlets, and just vegging poolside at the resort.

Happy to be home...but not happy to go back to work after the weekend :sad1:

Welcome home! Sounds like you really did have an actual vacation, instead of exhausting yourselves. Carlsbad is awesome. We love it here!

Thanks Pumpkin! And thanks for all you fabulous tips for San Diego! :thumbsup2

You are soooo lucky to live in such a beautiful place where so much is available to you. What I love about SoCal is its weather. I have always felt misplaced living in the rainy Pacific Northwest.
