I'm curious if any solo trippers have ever done the behind the scene tours. I've always wanted to do Key to the Kingdom but have yet to do so. My next trip will probably be a solo one so I'm wondering if the tours are still enjoyable on your own.

I have done Keys to the Kingdom, Backstage Magic, the Segway tour, and Undiscovered Future World solo, and I have always enjoyed them. In fact, sometimes it's nice to do them solo because it gives you the opportunity to talk with everyone on the tour than if you were with another person--most people seem to talk to the person they are with, but most couples welcome conversation from a solo person. I also find that the guides tend to be more attentive to the solo guests--they always spend time chatting with me one on one between stops.

So, go ahead and do it, and have fun!

I did the Keys to the Kingdom tour Five years ago .... while my DH took the kids all throughout Fantasyland and the Pool at POFQ......

I really loved this tour. The good thing about being solo, is that I got to ride the rides with the tourguide... he was able to give me little personal tidbits on the rides.
The only part that was hard was lunch..... (we at lunch on our own at Pinocchios... this was before Columbia Harbour House was added).... I just sat at a table alone. The other members of the tour were a family of 9 adults and a party of 4.

I am going this year with just my 10 yr old.... if DH was with us, I would go on a tour again ..... alone... in heartbeat!
Enjoy!

I haven't done a tour YET! But I have booked myself for the KTTK in July, and I'm going solo. I wasn't sure about it either but I decided that if I'm brave enough to travel over to the USA on my own then I can handle a tour :) . I think it'll be a good thing to do as a solo.

Hope you decide to do it, I'm sure you won't regret it.

The only current tour I've done is the "Dolphins in Depth" tour, with my ex-GF. That was a great tour, we both really enjoyed it. For my trip in 11 days I have two tours planned, one is the "Keys to the Kingdom" tour, the other is the "Hidden Treasures of the World Showcase" tour. I'm also doing "Dine with a Disney Imagineer" one day as well.

And for each tour I've found another DISer had posted on the Solo Trip thread that they would be on the tour, so I already know another solo tripper on both tours! :)

ETA: On the same thread again! :)

I've done DiveQuest solo. There were 2 other ppl that were close to me in age, but the rest of the group on the day I did it was a bunch of Sheriff's Rescue Divers, who all knew each other, and pretty much ignored everyone else. I didn't mind, I was there to dive, not to converse.

I've done Keys to the Kingdom, Wild By Design, Backstage Safari, and Hidden WS solo, and they were all great! There has always been either another solo person on the trip that I buddied up with, or in one case, a family who adopted me. For the Keys tour I ended up sitting with the tour guide for lunch, which was great because I got to ask him all sorts of questions, and just chat more than you would normally have time to.

It seems like I've never done anything alone, not even ate in a restaraunt by myself, so when I decided to take the plunge and do a solo trip I decided to do it right. I leave next Friday for WDW and have ALOT of PSs booked, as well as three tours (KTTK 5/14, Backstage Safari 5/16, and Around the World on a Segway 5/18). I'm usually fairly shy, but am really looking forward to all three tours. I'm more concerned about eating alone with some of the PS I've got (Marrakesh, Biergarten, Rose & Crown, Le Cellier, Mama Melrose, Sci Fi, Crystal Palace, Bomas, RainForest, and House of Blues).

I posted the same question some time ago about going on tours as a solo and the responses I got back for the most part said that tours they had gone on usually had solos and that the tour guide paid more attention to solos anyway. KTTK participants have lunch at Columbia House and I was told seating was assigned, so you won't be sitting alone.

I loved my solo trips. Did a tour each time and can't wait to do another.

Had a great time with most PS's. The one I caution you to is Biergarten. It is family style seating and I ended up walking out. They sit unrelated parties together at one table. They seated me in the middle of 2 groups that were more than half way done eating. I had no problem being with others but would have preferred to be on the end. Just don't be afraid to ask for what you want.

Enjoy

I'm doing KTTK on 5/18 at 8:30 and Hidden Treasures of WS on the 19th. I think crcormier is on BOTH of my tours! This is my first solo trip and I have no qualms about doing ANYTHING solo. Well, maybe a bit uneasy about going to Jellyrolls alone, single woman in a bar, ya' know. But I WILL get over it and go!

I have done nine tours, all solo. Time to start repeats, LOL. They are great, I love them. Enjoy.

i did the keys to the kingdom tour solo and loved it!! at lunch time i sat with the guide and one other solo person!!

I didn't do KTTK tour solo Nov. 2004 as my mom was with me but we sat at a table with 2 solo's and enjoyed their company. I have gone solo to WDW and loved every minute of it and certainly look forward to my next solo trip. I will tell you that the KTTK is a freat and informative tour but is very tiring.

I do plan on doing future solo tours especially after seeing others on the one I went on.

To the poster who is nervous about eating by yourself - don't be. Take a small journal or magazine/book to right down your thoughts. I've eaten at several of the restaurants you listed by myself and enjoyed every minute while writing down my thoughts about my day in my journal. Your going to have a great time.

I've done only one tour with friends: Wild By Design

I've done these solo: Backstage Magic (the 'old' version, about 5-6 years ago!), Hidden Treasures of World Showcase (last May), and Segway
(in December).

I had a great time on all my tours, and I think going solo is just as much fun.

I've done KTTK solo, it was very fun, even though I knew like 75% of the info they speiled out during the tour. The tour guide, Matthew (Ft. Wayne,IN) was my ride buddy on some the attractions we went on. Matthew was so nice I even wrote WDW's Guest Communications about him. :)

My bf and I did KTTK in May '04 and when we ate lunch at CHH the seating was assigned. When you get to the restaurant your KTTK pin and a card w/your name on it is already at the table w/your food.

It seems my WDW trips are too short to manage the tours! :( With the time difference, I have difficulty getting moving in the mornings. I'm on holiday and my body does not want to rise and shine at 4 a.m. (body clock time) to arrive at the parks early!

Next trip (December, 2006 if everything goes well), I'm planning the KTTK and Holiday Decorations tours. Can't do Segway (balance issues) and many of the others don't really appeal to me. Besides, with only 6 or 7 full days at WDW, I'm not willing to fill too much park time with tours! :)
