Rule of 4 Now Applies to the Disney Hotels in California

We've got a preferred studio booked for 4 nights, two weeks from now, and I'm reasonably certain the $63.94 per night in TOT wouldn't get me halfway to anything decent offsite, considering the Motel 6 on Harbor is $150 per night for those dates.
For the recent Moonlight Magic (1/29) we booked a nearby, off-site, 1BR timeshare, as owners, for $80/night. Clean, comfortable, easy walk to DLR.

Edited to add: Sorry, not trying to be argumentative. Just offering a data point. We've stayed VDH three times now on DVC points and are debating the value given the TOT. We've often mentioned, between ourselves, that we are walking a fine line between "just staying off site" given the TOT.
