Purchasing a PE upgrade

sorry to sound a bit thick....but some of you have said that you've had free upgrades....could you please tell me how you were able to get these???

Thanks

Id love to be able to upgrade but there are 6 of us travelling in November so the cost would be too much for us.

Hopefully next year :)

You are not being thick - some airlines insist on special dress code. For example you will only get a free upgrade with Virgin if you check in wearing your pajamas. With BA you must be wearing a superhero outfit, but not Wonder Woman or you'll be escorted from the airport.

I have access to a site which shows loads etc.

You flight is very full.
Only three seats in UC
one seat in PE (apart from VH held back seats)
and only 7 seats in economy, all singles.
Economy have released all seats (aprt from special ones, exits etc) from rows 29 all the way to 64, so you can see its a full flight

Thanks for the info - good to know. Last time I was on the site, I managed to allocate 3 seats together for the family (whether they honor this request is another matter) with no one behind us (i.e. a gap behind us) so we will be able to put our seats back without bothering anyone else.

hi if you dont mind could you check our flight please, 31st october 09 from gatwick vs15, thanks susie

Seat availability on VS15
Economy classes all 9's (wide open)
PE all 9's
UC J3 D3 R2 Z2 so still cheapes seats available

seat plan
UC, all seats from rows 9-12 empty
PE All non VH seats upstairs filled, downstairs seats 82 D E fg free, so I expect that VH have lots of seats free accordinbg to availability
Econ 40% held back released, a few single setas at front of economy, but blocks of seats available from around roww 55 backwards

thanks, after seeing the chart do you think there will be premium economy on offer at the airport, thanks again susie

What does "S" at "9" indicate ?

Like all airlines, Virgin don't just have UC, PE and Economy tickets, but a whole range of fare codes for each class.
"S" is discounted PE Not as good as a K class, but better than a W full fare class. You can use it to upgrade into UC.
"9" is the highest figure shown by Virgin for tickets in a class being available, i.e. between 9 and what ever their max is at that class. AS the seats fill up, then the number reduces to zero.

Hi Obi Wan Kenobi

I'm travelling to Las Vegas in November and was wondering if you could check your site please:

VS043 on 13 Nov
VS044 on 16 Nov

When we went to Spain last month we flew Easyjet and their check in at Gatwick is right next to Virgin's and they've got signs up everywhere saying you can buy extra legroom seats for £30 i think and also emergency exit seats - do you know if this is just on the day or can you prebook? tried searching he net for this info but can't find anything

my last trip on virgin to orlando on 2002 was quick cramped in standard economy seats so i'm not looking forward to the vegas flights. not sure if things have improved since then. my last long haul flight was to cancun 3 years ago but we flew first choice and their economy seats were great

thanks

neil

30 seats and exits only on the day also there are not many, i have a list but cant find it at mo

Neil,
well, its tyhe same planes that fly to Las vegas which also do the Orlando route, 747 400's
VS43 13th Nov
Upper Class only 2 seats booked
PE 6 only booked, wide open
Econ 40 seats booked
the flight is wide open

Vs44 16 nov (you only going for 3 days??)
Zero seats booked in UC
PE only one seat 82C NOT booked
Econ a lot booked
PE is showing "W & S" classes at 9's, "K" Cheapest at zero. so some seats in the VH part still available

obi- can you check out vs27 on 27th aug please? we are using special assistance so hoping to get the front cabin of economy for extra leg room so hoping its not fully booked

Thanks

as i'm a high risk pregnancy and I said I was hoping then yes I do realise that, also having worked for VA I know exactly how they allocate them.

Our booking is under special assistance as its needed to be, I'm not expecting any special treatment because of this.

Hi OT,
Looks very busy. As you know, the front cabin seats up to 29 are blocked up to 24 hours before the flights departure,
the flight looks like this:
UC only two empty seats showing, all classes showing 4 available
PE showing 6 empty seats (3 top deck, three row 82) plus VH blocked allocation, classes showing 9's so plenty of seats available
Economy very full, only 11 empty seats (only 2 together, all others singles) and the 40% held back has been released. Classes showing 1's so very full
Even though the 40% have been released, thats not rows 25-29 and the emergency exit or extra legroom seats.

thanks for checking obi - yes only going for 3 days as it's a mate's stag weekend so no chance of a bump up :rolleyes1

will see how it goes on the day then i guess but it sounds like a full flight on the way home

going again for a week next year for SIL's wedding - the upgrade to pe is approx £350 per leg but not sure it's worth the money to be fair. my wife used to work for virgin and said unless you upgrade to uc it's not really worth the money. we might get lucky and she knows the crew onboard :)
