Ordering a la carte

Do most restaurants let you order a la carte? (Excluding buffets of course!) My DD4 eats very little and can usually make a meal out of an order of mashed potatoes and a veggie. She's not a real meat eater. Is it possible to order JUST these items?

Never thought of this, but I don't see why not.
Suggest you look at the menus at allearsnet.com. They should show a breakdown of everything that the restaurants offer.
Your idea is probably better than ordering off the very limited children's menu.
You might also see an appetizer on some of the menus that may be turned into a meal for your daughter.
