Gah! I feel like time has really been going fast!
Only 186 days until our sailing and 188 days until our
Castaway Cay Wedding!
Thankfully things have been going smoothly with the planning process.
Don’t get me wrong, there is still a TON of stuff to do but it’s getting done at a good pace!
It’s all thanks to my amazing DF and bridesmaids!
They all have been absolutely incredible and getting things done fast whenever I ask for help.
And one of the things that’s been figured out and off my list of to-do’s is the Bridesmaids dresses!!
Finding the dresses was so much easier than I thought it would be which is so nice!
I made it a whole day event with my maid of honor and one of my bridesmaids.
My other bridesmaid, my sister-to-be, lives in Oklahoma so she obviously couldn’t attend.
And because she lives in a different state,
I made sure to go to stores that she could have easy access to.
So I had scheduled appointments at three different places, the bridal shop that I bought my wedding dress, Nordstrom’s bridal suite and David’s Bridal.
We first went to the bridal shop and we all liked this sparkly gown. The sample was in gold but it also came in a rose gold/copper color which I LOVED!!
I wasn’t completely sure the girls liked the dress though.
They said they loved it but I could tell something was off.
So we went to our Nordstrom appointment.
The experience we had at the Nordstrom Bridal Suite was fantastic!
I didn’t have a set idea or anything in mind going into it.
I just knew I wanted all the girls to feel comfortable and to love whatever they’re wearing.
So the consultants asked a few questions like the feel of the wedding, what the girls liked, what my dress looked like and went to work pulling dresses.
The first dress they tried on was one that I had been eyeing on the Nordstrom Website.
It’s a Adrianna Papell Beaded Chiffon Blouson Dress.
My Maid of Honor tried it on in the Taupe/Pink Color and my Bridesmaid tried on the blush color.
We weren’t fans of the blush color which is why I have no pictures of her in it but the taupe dress was beautiful! I didn’t see any pink in it so I’m not entirely sure why that’s the color name.
But the beading was so detailed and the geometric pattern made my heart skip! I mean, it went with theme!
Now the downside, I could completely tell the girls didn’t like them.
They kept saying they did but I knew they weren’t being honest and I wasn’t about to be that bride that made them wear something they didn’t feel good in! So we put that one in the “maybe” pile and continued to look.
After going through a few dresses that made me want to cry from how much I hated them (!) we finally got to a dress that made EVERYONE squeal! Even the other bride there trying on bridal gowns stopped and awwed!
The dress was the Aidan by Jenny Yoo.
The dress itself is so simple but the detail on the bodice is what really makes the dress special.
And the dress is a convertible dress so they can leave it as a strapless dress or tie it to have a whole different look. Here are the different ways you can change it up..
In the first picture My Maid of Honor has it on in the navy color and my bridesmaid has it on in evening blue. The colors during this phase didn’t matter, we were just trying them on to see the actual dress but we all loved the evening blue! It was a perfect color for Sarah’s skin tone! I actually really loved the navy color as well but I want Travis and the groomsmen to wear navy suits and didn’t want the bridesmaids to match them that closely.
And at this point if you’ve been following along on my planning journey you know I’m not a fan of tradition so I decided that I liked the idea of having the girls wear the same dress but in different colors or have the bridesmaids in evening blue and my maid of honor in a different color.
Obviously I still wanted them all to look good together so my maid of honor tried the charcoal color.
We all loved it! Again, it worked so great for her skin tone!
There was one thing that was missing from the dress that I really wanted though, SPARKLES!
What can I say? I love sparkles and really wanted to incorporate that into the dresses so the consultant ran and grabbed a sparkly belt that made the dress just what I wanted and I could tell the girls loved it!
Before we officially pulled the trigger and bought the dresses, I needed to make sure my sister-to-be liked the dress as well. I sent her a picture of the dress and she loved it!
Unfortunately, Oklahoma doesn’t have a Nordstrom so I went on a hunt to find a shop that carries the designer and the dress! Chelsea, my future sister, was awesome and called the shop I found right away and set up an appointment to try on the dress and see if she likes the evening blue color or if there’s another color she prefers.
Now the only thing I’m on the hunt for is to find the perfect belts for them!
I really liked the belts Nordstrom had but I want to try and find rose gold/copper belts that will go with my theme.
What do you guys think?
Do you like the dresses and do you have any suggestions of where I can find rose gold/copper belts?
Thank you for following along!
