So after the cars finally picked us up, we took off for the Dessert party. Luckily we had lots of time to get there, because the driver got lost backstage. He could not for the life of him find the UK - even after stopping numerous times for directions, he still took about 15 minutes of driving around to find it. It was quite funny really. I felt bad because none of us had any cash on us for a tip anyways...it was the one thing I forgot all day! I had written myself a list of people to tip, the driver was on it but I just forgot somehow. Had he been a great driver I would have made sure that he got something (I could have called Amy to find out who he was) - but he was not great...he didn't even really bother to congratulate us or anything...very strange...although he was a Mears driver, not Disney.
We got backstage to the UK and our escort was there to walk us through the park. It was so surreal walking through the streets of EPCOT in a wedding dress - a little girl was sitting with her mom who said "Look honey, it's a REAL princess!" The look on that little girl's face was priceless - it was one of those magical moments of the day.
We had some time to kill because we got there early - the guests were taking the bus over so they weren't there yet...we just hung out with the Amys and with Daryn and wandered around a bit. It was beautiful...I'm glad i spent the extra $150 for a bit of decor - the vases looked so pretty, and the guests dug the glow cubes out to take home with them after the party was over (Amy said it was fine as we had definitely paid for them - although I felt like we were stealing...lol)
Before the food came out, Amy (the photographer) came and presented us with one of the prints from our photo shoot in the morning...it was the only shot I asked for, the fun one with his head cut off by Haunted Mansion. I couldn't believe that they took the time out of their day to go and get that print made for me. It's not like it was one of the really easy ones, as it had to be photoshopped and everything. I thought it was such a sweet gesture and it was SO nice to have one print to have to take home with us!!
The food was gorgeous - one of my only regrets is that I didn't really try much of it...I took a nibble of a key lime tart which was gross, and ate a couple of sweet potato buttons after the fireworks were over but didn't have time to eat once things got going!
I got them to take lots of food pics...my menu included sweet potato buttons, key lime tarts, pecan squares, cream horns, fresh fruit, brownies, orange tarts, guava cream cheese pinwheels, and baklava. I'm really glad I didn't skimp on this menu as it was pretty fantastic! I brought gift bags for people to take sweets home with them too.
Food Porn:
Amy started taking pictures before the fireworks started. We tried spelling our names with glow sticks, but it's really hard to write Kelly and Adrian backwards!! It was pretty funny anyways. We got these 2 shots beforehand - I love them as it brings me back to the moment - we were having so much fun!
Here are the fireworks shots - we look kind of like statues in the first one - it's VERY hard to stay still while looking natural in these pics...
These 2 are the money shots - just these 2 shots alone are worth the amount that the photo shoot cost!
After the fireworks were done, the guests hung out for a bit, we socialized for a few minutes, and then we hung out with the Amys for a few more minutes after the guests left...I strongly encouraged them to take home some of the goodies as we really didn't want them.
By this time it was time to go "home" to Boardwalk! One of the great things about having the DP at the UK was being able to walk out of the park easily to get back to our resort - it was super cool...my sisters walked back with us to pick up their stuff and then they headed out.
Hilarious wedding night story...Adrian and I were planning to go for a swim, cause it was such a long day...we got to the resort, and I went to the washroom to change...I came back out and he was passed out on the couch in his swim trunks. I woke him up and asked if he still wanted to go...he mumbled yes, and so I went to put take the ins out of my hair and stuff....came back and he was out like a light. It was pretty adorable all in all...lol I ended up wired because of the adrenaline of the day, so I cleaned out whole room (which was a disaster from getting ready and stuff...I like things all neat and tidy), organized our wedding stuff, etc...didn't go to sleep until 1:30 AM.
What a great day all in all - there is literally nothing I would change about it, I loved every bit of it.
