That is just about my GOAL weight! Trade ya!!!So I weighed myself for the first time in weeks/months and I am up to 153.
Today's topic... fats... hmm... they are delicious! I find that just watching my calories has the tragic effect of limiting the fats in my diet... not too many mozzarella sticks fit into a calorie-restricted plan. I find when I'm being good and tracking closely that my fat intake is usually a bit below the recommended daily grams, so yes, I really SHOULD add a fish oil supplement... but my one true vice is diet cola, and OMW, the fish-burps are the WORST!!!
Avocados are delicious, of course, and I like salmon and try to have some whenever I am somewhere where it's on the menu (and not swimming in sauce,) but H *hates* all seafood, like will puke if he smells it *hates,* so it's not something I can cook at home very often now that he is retired. I do/did like the Gortons filets where you just microwaved them for about 5 minutes, about 100 calories for 3ish ounces, lots of protein... but a problem now that he is home so much. I'm also totally on the cheese bandwagon, though! Today I tried Laughing Cow Light spread, and it wasn't awful, but I'm not giving up my Cheddar and Colby for nothin'!!!
And a belated woohoo for yesterday, I *FINALLY* finished up the lap blanket set I've been making and got the whole care package boxed up, addressed, and ready to mail tomorrow. Woohoo! There was just the tiniest little bit of yarn left, so I balled that up tight and doused it in catnip and that's been keeping my usually-outdoorsy-but-it's-been-snowy-here-cat entertained while he spends more time that usual indoors. Oh, and I got my dental work all taken care of. woohoo!
And as for tracking... right now it's the scale until I get going enough that I can actually tell anything is changing. That said, this week the scale was up a little, lots of factors going on there, so I'm not worried about it, but it was a bit disheartening.
I have a new accountability buddy! My 15-year-old, beautiful-as-an-angel daughter was fussy about her "belly flub" the last couple of days and asked me to help her... so I am. And by that I mean I measured her height and weight, plugged it into sparkpeople and proved to her that they recommend she lose ZERO pounds and MAINTAIN her current weight. Then we talked about the difference between "toning" and "dieting" and we tracked everything she had eaten today and planned her dinner accordingly (we actually had to ADD pudding to get her up to her recommended calorie range.) I'm proud of us, because I was experimenting with all sorts of unhealthy options when I was her age (bulimia, dexitrim, anorexia, etc... and like her, I was a healthy weight, but thought I should be skin-and-bones.) I'm glad that she feels comfortable talking to me, and is willing to hear that she is wonderful how she is, and that we certainly CAN target her abs through exercise if that's what she wants, but that skipping meals is absolutely NOT an option. We bought lots of healthy-ish snacks and she divided them all up into 100-calorie portions she can grab for snacktime or lunch boxes (she wants to pack because school meals are gross here, but also it helps with tracking so I know she is getting enough nutrition.) But knowing that I have to kind of keep an eye on her so that she gets enough and doesn't starve herself means that I may as well be good about my own tracking, too...
Meanwhile, DD11 is tiny and at her last visit the doctor recommended adding nutrition shakes for the time being... so here we are... me trying to lose, DD15 trying to maintain-but-tone, and DD11 whining that she has to drink chocolate milk every night before bed. What a crazy bunch we are!!!
