So I made a mistake with my application for Schwab Platinum. I added P2 as an authorized user. I have done so many amex biz applications in the past year and always added him for the extra help with MSR, that I just did it out of habit. Now that makes him 5/24! Is there any way to un-do this? On another note I just want to say how awesome this board is. I remember when I first got started reading a post from @Lain about the cash out with Schwab plat to brokerage and thinking wow I'll never get in that deep. Well, almost two years later here I am and I cashed out 500,000+ MRs tonight to my brokerage account at 1.25 ccp. Crazy! Now I'm wondering if I should have done that much at one time- is that a big deal or should I have spread it out? I've been so busy I kept putting it off, but I know it changes to 1.1 on Sept 1st so I wanted to do it before then.

Adding to my last post, I just want to say thanks for all the helpful info everyone! This cash out is going toward our last family-of-4 vacation in January before DS gets married in March. Going to splurge on this one- we have rooms booked at both GF and Poly- not sure which we'll keep. But we've been going to WDW with our kids since they were toddlers (now 22 and 19) and always stayed value or mod, and once off site, and they've always said how cool it would be to stay at a monorail resort. I have lots of memories of them talking about it, especially when they were little, and I always told them it was out of our price range so keep dreaming lol. But now thanks to this "hobby" we're going to take this trip with little to nothing out of pocket and plan to splurge on as many of the things we've always passed up as we can!!

Congratulations! :cheer2:party::cool1:

500k MR for $6,250 is quite an achievement! Don’t second guess your decision at all. You can always earn more MRs, but you won’t be able to cash them out again for 1.25 cpp after today. And don’t worry about Amex — the Invest with Rewards option is there exactly for redemptions like this. And you’re not the only one trying to lock in the higher redemption rate before tomorrow.

Bad news about P2 though. There’s no way to undo the effect on his 5/24. Because the CS Plat is a personal card, it’ll eventually report to his credit reports — in as soon your first statement close. If there’s a Chase card you’ve been eyeing for P2, you may want to sneak it in ASAP before the CS Plat AU goes on his CRs. Even if you remove P2 as an AU, Amex will not remove the fact that he was an AU on your card from his CRs since he’s your spouse, and Chase will continue to count that as a new account until it drops off in 24 months. You may still want to remove P2 as an AU (or at least downgrade his Platinum AU to a “Gold” AU) because an additional Platinum card is $175 (but you can add up to 3 Platinum AUs for that fee). Unfortunately, Platinum AUs don’t each get their own set of the Platinum’s credits other than GE/Precheck (which is available with the free “Gold” AU card, anyway). Platinum AUs do each get their own entry and guest into the Centurion Lounge, which may or may not be useful to you. This kind of stuff happens. There is life after 5/24, especially if he hasn’t hit Amex hard yet.

I could be wrong but my understanding was that P2 would be auto denied from Chase for being over 5/24 but if the P2 is willing to call the recon line, they can explain that one of the 5 cards is an AU card and many times the recon specialist will then be able to override the initial auto denial. Is this no longer the case ?

Chase most likely won't or doesn't know about the AU yet on the Amex card since it won't report on the first statement. Often, you can apply for 1, 2 or even 3 cards before they hit your credit report. I did it in 2018 and have finally got back under 5/24, with my 5th, 6th and 7th card all falling off in the same month in 2020.

Yes, you can still call recon and ask that AU cards not be counted. @Minnie368

For P2, I would remove him as a P2 and then contact the credit bureaus and asked that it be removed from his credit history saying something like it was he was removed from the account and he was and is not responsible for the card. Some of the credit bureaus it is easier than others.

I went through the process when I was initially starting out many years ago.

Just tagging this one in case anybody missed it - this 10% off $500 @ Target deal is pretty awesome!

To access this deal - login to paypal and click on DEALS.
IF you don't see a target deal in your first list (scroll through to the right) I advise you add the Hot Topic deal (might have to click save offer 2-3 times to fully add it). After I did that, the Target offer then appeared!

This expires on 9/1 so if you want to do it... get on it NOW! The way it works is that you go to Target.com, Buy a $500 Disney GC or Target GC, and it only charges your card $450. It was super easy!

I did it with my Discover card and got 5% CashBack with their quarterly Paypal category...
huh I don't have any of these deals on my page....

I used the Target/PayPal deal on Friday to get two $200 eVGC’s and it worked. Sweet deal.

Can anybody tell me what the current situation is with converting VGC and MCGC to serve? Can I do both at FD and VGC only at Walmart (but not MCGC)? I think that was how it was last time I was doing it, but Walmart being iffy at times. I’m done paying on tuition for a couple months and I’ve been out of the loop since last winter.

I haven't ever been able to do MCGC at either here so can't answer what your FD accepts (as of a couple of weeks ago, though still taking VGC). Also, WM became a problem for most of us last fall/winter at least at the money centers. There have been mixed reports of success different places in the country at check out lines still for VGCs. I just do serve/VGC at FD now.

DP if anyone else took an upgrade offer on their Delta Amex for bonus miles. P2, paid prop taxes to finish spend on Thursday. Charge posted Sat. 50k miles and the $200 statement credit posted this morning. And for some odd reason, got an email that the credit line was increased. Wonder if any of that would get him out of pop up jail? My spend isn't quite done yet on mine.

Still nothing on the CIC app from over the weekend.

You can ask but neither Chase nor credit bureaus have to remove/disregard AU. I have been denied by both.
