Hurricane Irma has passed over the Orlando area, but with less impact than initially feared.
However, winds up to 43 mph and gusts up to 69 mph are still being reported near downtown Orlando. Hurricane force winds still extend outward up to 60 miles from the eye of the storm, with tropical force winds extending up to 415 miles. Irma is expected to be downgraded to a tropical storm this morning.
Nearly 60%, or 6 million, Florida homes and businesses across Florida are without power. In Central Florida, 750,000 were still without power as of this morning. That’s almost half of the homes and business in Central Florida.
A flood watch and curfew are still in effect until Monday event with another 2-4 inches of rain are expected today. Guests staying at Walt Disney World are advised to continue to honor the curfew.
